Thanks for uploading this. Aiptek always gets such a bashing by reviewers but with it's capabilities(and maybe a few programs to go along with it) I had a feeling it would be perfect for what I'll need it for. I'm picking one up this Friday evening and cannot wait.
My pleasure. Looks great in High Quality, doesn't it? The newest one at aiptek(dot)com is about $250, but has optical zoom, 1080p, 30 & 60 fps and a mic input for an external mic which synchs automatically with the video. The 720p, my camera, is still pretty cool and of course you can record video to it, which is then upconverted. I have recorded old video tapes on it and it they look surprisingly good once my camera is done with them.
Honestly, it's my pleasure. I love helping people with stuff like this and anytime I can help people do something like this on the cheap, I'm delighted. Best of luck with your camera; if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Yeah, I do like the camera; in fact, there are better models with higher speeds for smoother video than the one I have and they're only a little more money. Yeah, it works with iMovie; H264 is saved as .mov by your computer.
I have the same camera..are there any video editing softwares available that supports .mov input? coz I cant edit mine using pinnacle or wmm..I dont want to convert it because it will lower the quality :(
I'm afraid that that's the limitation of this camera. Sony's Vegas will do it, but it won't recognize the sound codec. Final Cut of course will--I think that's what Macs come with. I hear that Corel will. Movie Maker definitely will not. If you get a converter and convert it straight to DVD, edit on Movie Maker and then re-render it, I don't think it turns out that badly. This was done on Movie Maker and re-rendered at only 3.1Mbps--not even close to highest quality. You can go up to 7.1Mbps.
None, except the other aipteks. Go to aiptek(dot)com and look at the other models--then go get one at Wally-World, Target or someplace like that where they'll be cheaper, especially this holiday season. No one else makes affordable HD cameras. Next up is Canon HF100, which is 600 bucks.
thanks bro that was really helpful, and your shot is a good one! another question if you dont mind... about sony vegas, will I be able to input my video and put mp3's together with it? because its ok if I dont hear my videos audio as long as I will be able to put music together with it.. =)
Oh, yeah, of course. You can put mp3s with crappy little Windows Movie Maker, which is what I use because it's free:) Vegas is fine, if you don't mind the fact that you'll always have to dub the sound. Oh, and the files are huge, because it allows you to encode surround sound (no, not exaggerating). Unless you can find a torrent and a key generator, it'll be pricey; Vegas is $110-ish, although they do give a 30-free trial you can download. I'd honestly get the free converter and WMM to start.
Always go to the free solutions first; you can always burn the .mov files to DVD and keep them as computer files so you won't lose them. Try Movie Maker at its highest bitrate when you publish it and see if that's enough. You'll be surprised with the quality. Then, you can burn it on DVD and check out how good it's gonna look on your TV, because that's the real litmus test of video quality--it's hard to tell you YT because even at high quality, it's degraded here and this is only a 3.1Mbps file.
the shit is the NO stablisher.
