the key to being a pro driver is looking over your truck front to back at the start and end of every shift, notice changes. i don't care what kind of truck, or how many gears it has, if they do not take the time get a bit dirty they are dangerous.
@samayoachristian5 I think it's best to enroll in a program where you get some real world experience, the 'theory' is only a small part of the education in my opinion.
I used to work at Kenworth Montreal and I got to see those trucks up close on a daily basis and they're extremely impressive with the hood opened. I also saw the Paccar factory (the company that makes the Kenworth trucks) and that was quite cool as well
Now this is what i'm talking about, I'm a technician at a kenworth dealer. These old trucks are the best minus the autoshift garbadge. how do you like that clutch pedal on an auto? lol
@EricTheCarGuy alot of the eaton autoshifts have clutch pedals used only when stopped and starting out, I just saw a pedal there and thought it was the same deal. I just finished putting in spring pins today on a heavy hauler, they suck on those trucks because the leaf springs are so heavy!
every trucking application requires a setup, what is this rig with its tag axel, small bunk and auto used for? a older truck like this would be great for road work, but is where are the cup holders now? anyone who has used a otr rig to pull a parade float would give their left leg to borrow it for a day
is a 1/2-Inch Impact Wrench with 230 Ft/Lbs good i enough for professional shop purposes? I guess i mean is it enough torque to take off lug nuts and things like that?
I don't give a damn about how people look but your breathing gets heavier and louder at each episode. You might run around the shop for 10 mins whenever you have the chance.
@backwoodsctryboy I don't have one on the jake brake but I'll have a longer more in depth video for you Monday on this truck. Trucks are cool. Nice to see you in the comments man.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Is almost like you read my mind. I am a diesel Mechanic and for those who still think that diesels are easier to work on, they need to look into the DPF and DEF injection engines.
@MoneyMarcMes I have a 'walk around' video that I'll be giving you for Monday's video. I might have some future repair videos as I seem to be getting a lot of positive feedback on this truck.
Automatic Semi-Truck? Lazy Americans! lol EricTheDieselGuy? No. We already have EricTheCarGuy, thanks. Tell EricTheDieselGuy that he's a cheap lame rip off of ETCG. lol Just messing with you, bud. So, how are you? You are looking well fed lately. Some of your older videos had you looking pale/grey skinned and you looked like you hadn't eaten properly. It's good to see you're healthy, Eric. How is life treating you, in general? I don't want to pry, just checking in. Oh, why's the KW in your shop?
@JTheGuitarPlayer Honestly I'm pretty tired these days, it's a lot of work doing what I do, as for how I look the lighting in this shop is way better. As for the auto diesel this truck is set up to haul very heavy loads so the automatic actually helps with that, I'll have a more detailed video for you Monday. Good to see you in the comments man, I hope YOU are doing well.
@EricTheCarGuy Ready to Graduate WyoTech Dec 21!! Going home to WA state to beg GM for an apprenticeship. Totally PsYcHeD about that! In my final class, we just wrapped up the Allison 1000 Tranny rebuild. (DirtyMax trans) We did Rebuildable TQ Converters used in Allison 2000 & 2400 also the Allison WT (World Transmission) series. Wish I coulda done a Vid dedicated to ETCG. And we didn't disassemble the C1 & C2 rotating input assembly clutches. See a YT Vid for more info. Best of luck to ya, Eric
@EricTheCarGuy Thanks Eric for the reply. As always keep up the great videos. Btw, how'd manage to earn a collapsed lung? Did a car slip off it's jack stands while you were under it or something?
Well that's one good reason of going with a huge shop. Now you can work on semi-trucks. Why do they call them semi-trucks anyway... pretty sure they are full sized. :P
@DJDevon3 The term semi does relate to the trailer. It stems from "semi-trailer", called thus because the trailer only has wheels on the back half. Therefore, a semi-trailer truck, referring to the tractor portion, is a tractor that pulls a semi-trailer.
@oldtime40s Yeah they are out of the on highway engine business. The emissions standards killed them. I believe they sold the rights for their C15 block to Navistar who made it part of the Maxxforce15. They partnered with Navistar to build their new on highway vocational truck. The engine in that truck is not much more than a yellow Maxxforce 15.
@Hemihappy the emissions didnt kill them. they didnt want to be part of the minority. when Cat took all the emissions BS off of their engines they gained overt 200 hp and over 500 foot pounds of torque. thats why they backed out.not only that but it killed mileage. but like i said to the other guy its ok... they built their own truck :D
@EricTheCarGuy Trucks are just like cars, but in much bigger scale. Maybe you can do lecture how air brakes work and repair on a flatbed trailer for exampel.
