Actually aside from teaching the dog bad habits, the problem could be that it can cause problems with such a young dog's jaw. Obviously you didn't find this. But just wanted to point it out for anyone else watching.
@louiseogbourne i know that itay991's commenrt is 2 years old but still he is right, you shouldn't put yourself in an advisareal position with the puppy it's ok to do so once in a while and when it is of an older age but you should never let them win "tug of war"
What are you doing? this kind of "game" teaching the dog to fight you, than you let her win ! You should never gaver her to win because its means she is the leader of the group. When she will be old and bigger, she fight you on shirts, food, games. a puppy is dont a baby- they not seems to understand in some day that it was just a game. Play with a ball !
I'm sorry I don't agree with your comment. For one it is ok to let them win sometimes, also she is now older and by no means thinks she is the leader. I think you can read too much into dog psychology! She is a lovely dog with a calm, friendly and loving temprament. She doesn't like playing with balls, doesn't have the instinct to chase.
I wouldn't play tug of war with a baby either. They don't have the teeth for it.
@louiseogbourne yes, my cavalier is a male dog and as you know they are supposed to be more "dominant". but we have always played games like this and he is absolutely fantastic dog with no "dominant problems" today (he is 1 year old). I got to him early on the command "drop" so if you say it sometimes during the play you still show who's the boss. itay991 seems to have watched to much Ceasar-telly, and have never had a dog on their own? I hate people who will comment on how others should behave!

@skatersrule155 You are entitled to your opinion. I don't agree with it though. Tilly is now 3 years old and as soft as muck.

We just got an 8 week old Blenheim Cavalier for Christmas - and we've called her Tilly too!!! (good taste!)
She's so beautiful.....and it's reassuring to hear your Tilly make that same noise.....thought she was possessed!
