@dragonflyinhaven no, if a horse is just exited or wants to '' play '' then its is NOT called a piaffe, piaffe needs more work, not that a horse will do it by himself .
@jessielovesmonty I am not saying that..? I wasn't but here in holland the first lesson you get is to not pull in the horses mouth. kinda obvious? I just think it's sad for the animal ..
@1002Lollipop sorry my cousin posted that and she thinks she knows everything! haha it kind of loks like it at first but yeah the horse moves around a lot
He tries to open mouth. If there was no noseband, he would succeed. All he can do is pull chin to chest which is also unpleasant and it all sums up in being "excited".
@03firefly If you put a strap around a mandibula and maxilla and fasten it I see no other function. Take off the noseband and the rider looses "control" or "contact". Fig. speaking horse tells us: "It's painful" by opening mouth. With noseband the horse is mute.
@Sarma1188 Yes, types of nosebands can be used to control the mouth. But where this noseband is placed is merely cosmetic - for show. It has no "mouth controlling" Purpose, but is just there to look good... so yeah, I guess they could take it off, but that wouldn't have changed anything about this video. I've seen plenty of horses with this style of noseband yawn, graze, and neigh without any signs of discomfort.
@Sarma1188 I haven't seen any rider letting noseband hang loose. It is always tightened. If you want it "cute" then there is no need for a buckle to hold it. Modern "dressage" and other pain-based practises would fall apart without nosebands and double bridles.
@Sarma1188 I don't actually understand my pony opens and closes her mouth with the noseband done up it doesn't stop them doing that, Unless you have like a flash noseband or something added to it.
@x48beckstar48x It depends on how you tighten it. But there is always some degree of restriction of mouth movement if it is used. Usually horses move aorund with mouth shut. The fact that horse moves with mouth opened means there is some kind of discomfort involved, something that doesn't let keep the mouth closed. It is impossible to find a free and healthy horse running in liberty with opened mouth.
@spoie2222 she is only pulling alot cos clearly is she relaxes the horse will just go and she is trying to get it to stand! and if you are a proper horse rider you will have been in that situation before and understand it
Beautiful horse!
