ive got a 1992 eddie bower 5.8l efi bronco, it came from the factory in that exact color with those exact wheels. over the years its been painted black and got larger tires but still the same truck, i love the sound with that cam! gotta get me one of those
@xacdcx7 Auto Anything...I bought the kind for a '95 because they don't make them for a '96. Up through '95, factory pipe had 1 sensor at the junction of the Y. '96, with Mass Air Flow system, had a sensor for each back of cyl. I had a mechanic weld up the single sensor port in the Bassani pipe and add 2 bungs in roughly the same position as stock. Works like a charm! No MIL lights on in the dash :-)
@uoweme50 The previous owner had the cam put in, so I can't give you an "A-to-B" comparison, but with this set-up I get over 16 mpg on the highway at 65-70 mph, if I don't have a heavy foot. My best around town is just over 10 mpg (a LOT of stop-n-go), but usually it's 9 or so.
@ottergt 9-10 could be better even on a bronco at least I hope. Is the cam the previous owner added worse for mpg? Im planning on my own bronco and id love to know so I was glad to see this bit on here , thanks
That a really nice bronco, and I'm loving the sound. I've got a 96 F150 Eddie Bauer Edition thats the same colors as yours and also has the e303 cam, got a video of it on my page. Been looking for something to replace my raspy/cackely glasspacks, think i may give something similar to your setup a try, yours sounds awesome.
@xacdcx7 I don't remember the part number, but it's the 3" center inlet / 3" center outlet, stainless steel. The stainless is significantly more expensive than the aluminized, but I needed it with living in the Rust Belt. Too bad Hooker thinks they need to have highly polished stainless, which is probably why it's so expensive.
@punchmaster123 Any engine's efficiency will increase when it can "breathe" better. Better efficiency = better mileage. Think of it as trying to run a marathon while inhaling and exhaling through a straw :-) You can go TOO far, and actually decrease your power and efficiency though.
Nice Bronco! I'm a big fan of the Aerochamber too....I have them on both my Tbird and my Dakota. I have a short clip here of the Tbird if you want to check it out.
Too lopey for CA, they'll fail it with that kind of idle. I went with a camresearch corp custom roller grind. I do like the resonance of the areochamber muffler though.
@Spadadiforza dude how can they fail it if the e303 cam is C.A.R.B legal? if you have the carb number somewhere in the engine bay they shouldnt fail you
@mirc225 If the Ford racing cam is CARB legal then the sticker FRPP provides should get you through. The bessani Y pipe is iffy though....Bassani stopped making them because getting the CARB EO # on them would drive the cost skyward.
If it passes.....then that is one awesome Bronco. I'm about to give up on mine and sell it. I'm getting the build fatigue.
how do you like the e303 so far with mass air and obdII? do you know how much power you gained? im currently shopping for a cam for my 96 5.8... sounds great btw!
No drivability issues at all with the E303, it works very well, especially since the new exhaust has opened up the midrange/top end. No dyno numbers, but I'd guess maybe 20+ HP from the old restrictive dual exhaust and cat+low end torque. The only thing w/ the cam is cold start after a heat soak (driving at temp, shutting off, then restarting after 30 minutes or more)...it cranks a while before starting. Cold start in the morning, and restarting within 10-15 of shutoff, fires up instantly.
The Aero Chamber isn't perfect, but it is an overall improvement over the 40 Series (Which I still like, btw!). I think you'll like it way better than the glass packs!
@DansonShoes Thanks!!! I had a Flowmaster 40 series Delta Flow on there before...it also sounded great, but there was a lot of drone, all the time. With the Aero Chamber, the drone is mostly gone (still a little bit, but drastically less than the Flowmaster). It actually cruises pretty quietly. BUT!!! at 2,000-2,300 rpm under acceleration load, there is a drone that is literally almost painful. It's not there at cruise at 2,000ish, so it's pretty easy to drive around.
@ottergt I know the drone of the 40s very well. I've got one on my '85 Blazer. That's why I was looking at the Aeros, I've heard they have significantly less drone. I'm still undecided on what I want to put on my Mach. Kinda want to put a pair of Thrust stainless glass packs on it but I don't know. It has some old glass packs on it now and sounds great, but they are pretty loud.
Damn that just got me hard

This is the best sounding 5.8 351w exhaust set up. Definitley bitting this set up real soon.

@ltdyfz99 I had true duals running Cherrys and this sounds way better.

can you tell me where the MAF sensor is on those because my 96 f250 has a 351 and id like to do the same cam as that and idk if its maf or not
PS3FORDRACER 1 month ago
@PS3FORDRACER Don't know about the F250, but usually the MAF is in the air inlet tube at the air cleaner.

i want a cam in my bronco with a 351, can you just throw one in or do you have to change springs and lifters too??

@badassflatbed It's recommended to change lifters with cam swap.
