I just got an 85 fourtrax as well and same thing carb is a little diff there are two lines one left one right and drain on the bottom. As far as the left and right lines I am unsure if they should be connected. But the issue is the same as you guys the bike will run great and until its ran a while gear it bogs out have checked the float and all seems ok cleaned but no change. It will Run great then after a short time will bog out in higher gears then has to sit a while will also overflow.
I have a 1985 my carb is a little different it doesnt have that line that goes across the top but i was riding mine the other day and i hit a bump pretty hard and all of a sudded it acted like it wanted to shut off or something when i pushed on the gas so i took the carb off and cleaned it out and i noticed there is a line that goes off of the left of the carb and one to the right and they both rotted off and i cant figure out where they go now it acts like it has the choke on can anyone help

The first thing the Service Tech @ Honda told me was to check the air/overflow lines and see if the were blocked or cracked.
