@benpatry13 I have met people from Quebec in Texas, Colorado, South Carolina, and now in the last few weeks in Cape Cod Massachusetts and its always the same thing, speak french, expect others to speak it, and be rude rude and rude. When I say hello to them (at my work) they just look at me. When they want something, they don't ask, the talk down to people and they demand. They love to argue with people who serve them. I absolutely adore Quebec. I spent a week there with a group of French students from all over my state and stayed at Universite de Laval. It was an amazing experience I will never forget.

Ville de Quebec is the best place on Earth IMO. I am only part French and cant speak it at all but I had a wonderful time there and was treated like a king. I would love to move there if I could afford the taxes.

Thanks for the video. After 18 years, I spent a weekend in Quebec City just before Christmas. It is possibly the most charming city I've ever seen, and I've seen most of the great European cities. The headwaitor at Cafe de la Paix reminded me not to wait another 18 years before I come again. A deliver boy half an hour later repeated the same. I surely won't. And yes, I will start learning French.

Le Vieux Québec est magnifique, mais on se lasse vite de ce village de 500 000 habitants dispersé sur une superficie étalée. Alors que Montréal est riche des 80 ethnies qui la compose, Québec manque cruellement de couleurs culturelles. La mentalité locale d'ouverture sur le reste du monde laisse beaucoup à désirer (très matérialiste, superficielle et axé sur le paraître). Immigrés, ne pas s'attendre à avoir un bon emploie même si vous êtes plus qualifiés qu'un québécois.

The English Speaking Populaiton being 1.5% of Quebec City's populaiton is a MAJOR DISGRACE. In 1910 the English Speaking Populaiton was 10% of Quebec City's Population. I believe that it's time for more English Speakers to move to Quebec City and restore the English Speaking Populaiton back to being 10% of it's populaiton. Quebec City should be come a Bilingual City like Montreal and not a Unilingual City like it is now. More English should be spoken in Quebec City and it's a shame that it's not

I dont care if Quebec City is the last French City in North America, the fact is that the the Anglo-Quebecers who left Quebec City in the 20th Century should never have in the first place and instead should have stayed. The Province of Quebec is no differant then the other Provinces of Canada in my oppion. You Language and Culture suvived because the British and Canada tollerated you and should have listend to Lord Durham's advice on assimiliation. Time to restore English in Quebec City ASAP.

I think it's great if Quebec City is bilingual - so at least they can preserve their French identity and speak English at the same time. Every community has their own cultural identity and has the right to retain without others forcing them to assimilate to another and abandon their own identity.
First of all, Quebec already had been integrated into the nation Canada, which had been an independent country during the Second World War. So, Quebec wasn't really a British colony by then. Well, if it wasn't a British colony, it could've been a separate French nation like Haiti and it never had been under German rule. During the Second World War, Haven't you thought of that? The Province of Quebec is NOT a French dominated State in the Dominion of Canada no matter what Fascist Laws as Bill 22, Bill 101, Bill 104 and Bill 178 say. The Province of Quebec is defined as an English-French Bilingual Province under the Constittuion Act of 1867 which declared both English and French Languages as Official Languages of both the Dominion of Canada and it's Province of Quebec. Quebec is surposed to be an English-French Bilingual Province and not a French Unilingual Province.

The British were the ones who transformed Quebec City from a large trading post to a grand, rich and powerful City of the British Empire and the World. Great Britiah did more to improve and enpower Quebec City then France ever did. It's only our right to restore the Anglo-Quebec populaiton from 1.5% back to being 31.5% of the City's populaiton. Quebec City should be a Bilingual City just like Montreal. English and French should be the Official Languages of Quebec City just like Montreal.
Quebec City needs more English Speakers badly. The current population of Anglo-Quebecers living in Quebec City is just appaling at only 2% of the City's Population. Canada must restore the Anglophone Population of Quebec City back to it's 1842 demographic of 40%. The English Language and Anglo-Canadian Culture in Quebec City must be protected and expanded. We were foolish to allow the population of English Speakers to dwindle from 40% in 1842 to only just 2% of Today and we should be ashamed.

I am very willing to learn French and will speak it. I have an English-French Rossetta Stone and will open it and learn the French Language when the English Language is restored as a rightfull Co-Official Language of the Province of Quebec with the same rights and privileges as the French Language. I will gladly learn French and speak it when all of Quebec's Unjust and Unfair Language Laws like Bill 22, Bill 101, Bill 104 and Bill 178 are abolished and when Quebec returns to being 100% Bilingual

The British Empire and Canada built some of the best landmarks of Quebec City. The Chateau Frotenac was opend in 1893 and was designed by American Bruce Price for the Canadian Pacific Railway (Fairmont Hotels) and the Citadelle of Quebec was built by the British between 1820-131 by Lieutenant Colonel Elias Walker Durnford of the Royal Enginers. It was the British and Canada that beautified and made Quebec City what it is today and not the Quebecois.
I live near Philadelphia, Pa. You should see what's left of old Philadelphia, America's great city of it's day. They've built contemporary housing within the old district. It will never make UNESCO's list.

The French Language will disapear in the Province of Quebec. You can tell when a language is dying is when they make such fascist language laws like Bill 101 and Bill 22 in order to preserve it and a Language Police (OLF) to enforce them. These laws and the OLF will not save the French Language in Quebec but will slow it's misserable death. Quebecois are terrified of the English Language because they know that their language is dying and their descendents will be speaking English.
With in a century the French Language will be dead in the Province of Quebec.
French Canadians will be assimilated from uncivilised French Canadians into civilised Anglo-Canadians.
In 1 Century the Province of Quebec will be no differant from such provinces as Albeta and Ontario because English will be the sole language in Quebec and French would have died out.

Its a beautiful city. I was there at the weekend, and as a european who lives in mind numbing , overrated USA, i miss it already. Quebec is a perfect example of how you can make money and have a real culture at the same time.

Thanks for the video. After 18 years, I spent a weekend in Quebec City just before Christmas. It is possibly the most charming city I've ever seen, and I've seen most of the great European cities. The headwaitor at Cafe de la Paix reminded me not to wait another 18 years before I come again. A deliver boy half an hour later repeated the same. I surely won't. And yes, I will start learning French.

Le Vieux Québec est magnifique, mais on se lasse vite de ce village de 500 000 habitants dispersé sur une superficie étalée. Alors que Montréal est riche des 80 ethnies qui la compose, Québec manque cruellement de couleurs culturelles. La mentalité locale d'ouverture sur le reste du monde laisse beaucoup à désirer (très matérialiste, superficielle et axé sur le paraître). Immigrés, ne pas s'attendre à avoir un bon emploie même si vous êtes plus qualifiés qu'un québécois.

The English Speaking Populaiton being 1.5% of Quebec City's populaiton is a MAJOR DISGRACE. In 1910 the English Speaking Populaiton was 10% of Quebec City's Population. I believe that it's time for more English Speakers to move to Quebec City and restore the English Speaking Populaiton back to being 10% of it's populaiton. Quebec City should be come a Bilingual City like Montreal and not a Unilingual City like it is now. More English should be spoken in Quebec City and it's a shame that it's not

I dont care if Quebec City is the last French City in North America, the fact is that the the Anglo-Quebecers who left Quebec City in the 20th Century should never have in the first place and instead should have stayed. The Province of Quebec is no differant then the other Provinces of Canada in my oppion. You Language and Culture suvived because the British and Canada tollerated you and should have listend to Lord Durham's advice on assimiliation. Time to restore English in Quebec City ASAP.

The Province of Quebec is NOT a French dominated State in the Dominion of Canada no matter what Fascist Laws as Bill 22, Bill 101, Bill 104 and Bill 178 say. The Province of Quebec is defined as an English-French Bilingual Province under the Constittuion Act of 1867 which declared both English and French Languages as Official Languages of both the Dominion of Canada and it's Province of Quebec. Quebec is surposed to be an English-French Bilingual Province and not a French Unilingual Province.

The British were the ones who transformed Quebec City from a large trading post to a grand, rich and powerful City of the British Empire and the World. Great Britiah did more to improve and enpower Quebec City then France ever did. It's only our right to restore the Anglo-Quebec populaiton from 1.5% back to being 31.5% of the City's populaiton. Quebec City should be a Bilingual City just like Montreal. English and French should be the Official Languages of Quebec City just like Montreal.

Canada must restore the Anglophone Population of Quebec City back to it's 1842 demographic of 40%. The English Language and Anglo-Canadian Culture in Quebec City must be protected and expanded. We were foolish to allow the population of English Speakers to dwindle from 40% in 1842 to only just 2% of Today and we should be ashamed.

Are you nuts? Why not protect it's environment instead of assimilation? We all know that English will not be THE language anymore, it will soon be Mandarin, I suggest you protect your English in the west instead. Leave it as it is and let the Quebecers speak French if they want. If you want to do what you say, become Quebec's prime minister and change bill 101! my friends and i visited quebec last summer,and we were at mcdonalds,,we talked so loud and the girl there told us to be quiet and we thought that quebec people only speak french..so for all of the people who's afraid to go in quebec city,,dont be..coz they really do.....

about the noise,i found that most english canadian city they talk louder , instead in quebec its more quiet then if u r noisy , the people around u they see it as agressive :)

if u make the effort to learn french u wont regret it . In quebec we do have an amazing huge culture for stand up comedian and comedy etc.. the only problem is u need to master well your french :) hope to see u here soon

I am very willing to learn French and will speak it. I have an English-French Rossetta Stone and will open it and learn the French Language when the English Language is restored as a rightfull Co-Official Language of the Province of Quebec with the same rights and privileges as the French Language. I will gladly learn French and speak it when all of Quebec's Unjust and Unfair Language Laws like Bill 22, Bill 101, Bill 104 and Bill 178 are abolished and when Quebec returns to being 100% Bilingual

The British Empire and Canada built some of the best landmarks of Quebec City. The Chateau Frotenac was opend in 1893 and was designed by American Bruce Price for the Canadian Pacific Railway (Fairmont Hotels) and the Citadelle of Quebec was built by the British between 1820-131 by Lieutenant Colonel Elias Walker Durnford of the Royal Enginers. It was the British and Canada that beautified and made Quebec City what it is today and not the Quebecois.

I live near Philadelphia, Pa. You should see what's left of old Philadelphia, America's great city of it's day. They've built contemporary housing within the old district. It will never make UNESCO's list.
May the french language continue in Quebec! Viva Francais. Viva Quebec. I grew up in northern Maine, about 170 miles east of Quebec city, and it's like Quebec and Maine have never heard of each other. No roads go east/west, and so i never got to QC.

The French Language will disapear in the Province of Quebec. You can tell when a language is dying is when they make such fascist language laws like Bill 101 and Bill 22 in order to preserve it and a Language Police (OLF) to enforce them. These laws and the OLF will not save the French Language in Quebec but will slow it's misserable death. Quebecois are terrified of the English Language because they know that their language is dying and their descendents will be speaking English.
