I think you did very beautifully regarding that you haven't watched the movie.
Even if you'd watch the movie, it would probably be difficult to improve your *great* performance: There is a beautiful sadness in the (original) movie score that I assume is hard to reproduce: People have to believe *you* that *you* understand the pain and the longing that is expressed there. But you are really really close to the original interpretation !

Go and rent the DVD . Believe me you won't regret it. One of the best movies ever made and one of the best musical scores ever written.
