@Maroons1p We found out early on in our tour that we were doing the halftime. I could not wait to get to Miami. We had a lot of field practice. What a rush! The crowds, the noise, the scale of everything! Standing/dancing on that field was amazing. They shot the movie,"Black Sunday" that day. Yes, we had on field bleacher seats, and one of our guys caught a football! He still has it. We also sang the national anthem with Tommy Sullivan. I will never forget this lifetime experience.
@kknotes How did you feel when you first found out that you would be featured in front of millions of television viewers during halftime of Super Bowl X? Did they give you enough time to practice? I noticed that you all sat on bleachers at one endzone. What else do you remember from that day?
Gawd I miss the Seventies.... when I die, I want my afterlife to be an eternity of THIS, the seventies. Things were so different back then. Less jaded and angry and hopeless. Super Bowls in the early afternoon in Miami, played by teams that didn't film the other side practicing beforehand and didn't include diva superstars who need to be carted off after getting a hangnail.
At 2:01, perhaps the only Super Bowl half time broadcast mention of "cole slaw" in the illustrious game's history. I think this spectacle was the inspiration for the Simpsons Super Bowl episode half-time show: "People of Earth, we've come millions of miles to bring you this message: One o'clock, two o'clock, three o'clock rock!...."

Couldn't Bruce Dern have crashed the blimp at THIS point, and not during the actual game?

This seems light years away from the half-time shows of today. What we have here is the gae of innocence.
