This just sent chills down my spine, especially watching so many people join in. This really is a song that brings hope, joy and pride at being an Australian.
@skittification I forgot about ya tbh, I thought we had stopped talking. Anyway what response? I told you have a bushy was, you sad your somthin, just want someone to talk to? ;)
You initiated this exchange over a comment made 5 months ago.
When you get excited your written English is indecipherable.
If you just want some one to talk to, go out to the sheep fold. You can bleat at them, and they will all bleat right back. That should amuse you for hours.
@skittification Did I? Why did you ask the question again? Why would I get excited talking to you? ;) I'm fine I was watching a doco when you replied. Do you like that wool that you rest your head on every night?
I am from the Confederate states of America (No Yank), I love this song, and when my country falls, I will become and Australian... If you take a Johnny Reb. I will place this song next to Kelly's Irish Brigade or the Bonnie Blue Flag...
@kingbobiii people take this song as being more important than our actual national anthem. countrys from overseas know this song way more than the actual anthem.
this song is beautiful. i am australian but wasnt there when this terrible thing happened, im only 14 and at the time when i found out i was shocked but i didnt cry, when i heard this song i burst out into tears. this is a wonderful song.
this is a very beautiful song. i know people who have been lost in the fire.
this song is very stirring, it gave me goosebumps! i just want to say thank you to every australian out there who has been there for someone in need. our characters and compassion are relly tested in these troubled times.
I lost 4 people to the fires, and when I heard this, I burst into tears. It is such a beautiful song, and the government are idiots for not making this the National Anthem. Advance Australia Fair is based on an old British Navy song. I Am Australian is a much better choice for an anthem, and I agree with NightDweller, I feel proud to be Aussie when I sing this song, but our current Anthem makes me feel like we're always going to be convicts of the British sovereignty
That was beautiful. Whenever i hear the National Anthem i don't feel proud to be Australian, but when i hear this song...i really do. It represents Australia so well - it should the be National Anthem. I was reading the paper the other day and it said the Prime Minister's representative told the media that the matter of I AM AUSTRALIAN of being the anthem is closed for good, and i remember thinking-shouldn't the citizens of Australia decide that???
Beautiful, just beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen Australians as willing to stand for our National Anthem as they were for this moment. How proud of my homeland I am. Love to all Vics.
Very moving kyrics like "We are one; we are many" confirm my belief that Australians are folks who come together as one, because they are that already. God Bless your country and those "lost" loved one's from the fires.
They are, from aloft, looking down at their Country folk with pride knowing that 'that undefineable' Australian character will endure. Though their lives were taken, they know that, deep in the hearts of fellow Country-folk, their dreams, ambitions and ideals are "alive".
Even though I'm Dutch, my heart belongs to Australia. This song is on my iPod and I choke up everytime I hear it. This version sung by the writer, his daughter and Kinglake survivors is absolutely amazing. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
I sat down and whtched this on t.v and cryed the hole time. my heart gose out to the victorian people, the people who have lost loved one's and the onse who have lost houses and belonging, i'm going to be honest i can not imagin how hard it is for you all, even those who havn't been near the fiers, just knowing how distructive fiers can be. Australia will satnd behind you in surport, i'm from W.A and i know most the schools hear are fund raising, My heart is with you all.
I watched the 1st half of the service on TV and managed to pick the second half of it up on radio. This song made the hairs on my neck stand up I had it up so loud n i sang it so loud with so much pride you could of heard it in on the other side of the world. We are the lucky country times are tough we stick together. To all those who lost there lives you will never be forgotten and all those who helped THANK YOU. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE
Fires have started up in other areas too now and my daughter can see the flames coming over the Dandenong ranges. I am only a few klm away from there, more houses have gone up. They have over 700 fire trucks fighting just one blaze, damn, Melbourne city and surrounds will be all thats left of this beautiful state the way its going.
Thank you for reminding me how proud I am for being an AUSTRALIAN....... bless those who are rebuilding their lives may their lives be richly blessed with love and hope for a better future.
Now is the time. Although a telco and a politician used or attempted to use the song for their own personal gain, the memorial singing of this song purified it of any taint. it may have had.
Now is the time for national campaign to have this as our National Anthem.
