"Ludzie potrzebują pracować, zarabiać pieniądze i coraz lepiej żyć. Wychować i wykształcić dzieci (najlepiej w dobrych szkołach), mieszkać we własnym mieszkaniu (z czasem w domku z ogródkiem), mieć samochód (z czasem lepszy), może domek letniskowy (jak się da), założyć własny interes (dlaczego nie), pojeździć po kraju, potem po świecie. To są wielkie cele zwykłych ludzi, których jest 99%".
Those were the crazy days. When i first ran into this song and video back in 90's, it blew my mind. I still remember all those insane parties and this song playing loud at the background. Oddly...i'm still alive.
I have to say this song defined my 20s. I saw them play in at Glastonbury in 1992. As they took to the stage, it was empty, I looked back after the gig and there must have been 5 thousand people stood watching. Awesome awesome awesome, I miss those guys and I miss those days. Hedonism and drugs, fun times. RIP Liam.
@eastchristopher Spot on brother, I miss it also but Im 43 and I cannae do comedowns now, plus the drugs are shite.......... you will never get another dunt like you used to of doves or snowballs. Hedonism indeed, all the best pal.

this video was a seminal moment in everyones lives in the 90s .loved evry minute of the life god bless liam and the flowered up.go out have a good time what else can you say.
I adored this tune when it was released. Didn't do my brain any good. In fact I'm headshot, but I wouldn't have exchanged those days for the world. Loved every minute of it, and thanks to Flowered Up, I'm borderline psycho. God bless Liam, it's your fault I'm crazy. Ha ha ha ha ha he he he ho ha ha he. Thank you Flowered Up, and many thanks for posting a classic.
Damn, what's that? I came here coincidentally. After watching a New Fads video I thought let's check out 'Weekender'. And now I'm reading this very sad news. My thoughts go out to his loved ones. Remember, your dad was loved, even in Holland!
R.I.P LIAM MAHER.weekender fantastic track.f.u should have been massive.Reminds me of the great times drinking around warren street and camden. the camden stores and dublin castle pubs in the 90s.I attended st aloysuis school in somers town. And this was a fantastic london band.god bless and stay strong in these dark times.
Fuck me I'm a muppet. I had their album "A Life with Brian" in 91 and loved it, then I kind of moved on and forgot about Flowered Up, so I never even heard this single. But man, I wish I had back then 'cos it's fucking awesome!
Wee mate, God bless - saw your Dad's band in Belfast in about '92, they were great, really good memories for me. I'm so sorry you've lost him.. I'm almost 40 and still miss my Mum 3 years later - remember the happy times and take care, do good things - make him proud x
Hope today was good for you, it's hard on special days but like I said, think about the happy times and concentrate on being what your Dad would've wanted you to be.
And stay off the drugs too odyjames - trust me, I did them all but I hate the thought of my kids getting into it, I'm sure your Dad would say the same thing, be good!
god bless my friend, your dads memory lives on, weekender gives me joy and happiness during theses dark times, you and your family are in my prayers, R.I.P Liam

I have just read this guys obituary and decided to listen having never done so before, being a massive fan of the Mondays and Stone Roses, and being from Madchester! Its sad news that he has died so young but i must say that this song is pretty awful! Its just a copy of what those great bands did, but done in a less musically coherent way. Sorry, but i am not a fan at all.
Weekender is easily one of the best tracks of the 1990s. A lamentation of the empty chemical hedonistic vacuum of rave culture, by kids who had lived it. It's madchester's come down. You need to listen to it again.
Actually no, I'm quite intelligent. I like to act like an idiot and while some people may believe that I fit into the "stupid American" stereotype that would be an immensely incorrect assumption. I'm most certainly not a dumbass.
RIP Liam. Music and bands mean what they do to the individual and Flowered Up meant a lot to me. Great days and great times, a pity they couldn't take it further, but then again, how do you top this tune!
We never heard this here in the states, let alone saw the film. It is about the final straw in the Madchester camel's back, might have redeemed it all with us Colonials. Brilliant upload, cheers!

Saw Flowered Up a couple of years back at Clapham Common, along with Happy Mondays, The Farm et al.
Great to see them all with their families, kids, etc. and of course still urinating all over the crap that passes as popular music these days.
Had tickets to see FU earlier this year, but the gig got cancelled. Didn't realise then, how "late in the day" it was...

Reminds me of what weekends used to be like.
Understated classic - here's hoping the next generation resurrect it.
