In this case, its actually not the government. The manufacturers of printers did it VOLUNTARILY on a global level without any government forcing them to do it. In the free world you can easily buy your printer anonymously, just go to an electronics store and pay with cash. These spineless printer companies just want to have it in place so that corrupt, totalitarian regimes will choose their printers.

@pixelr0 because linux magically cloaks all your communications, modifies your printer hardware and defeats SOPA/PIPA? Linux would not prevent ANYTHING he talked about in this video. Spend some time investigating computer security, you'll find that Linux is very easy to hack. Browse a hacking forum for a while and see the various exploits which exist. Linux isn't a magical answer to our political apathy.
