this is a ruger ranch rifle derived from a m14 223 about the only difference is the scope mount built into the receiver and the spent cartridges eject out to the side instead of over the top
I carried an M 16 A1 in the Army...never liked it...never felt comfortable with it..years later I bought a Mini 14...and from that day forward I never could understand why the military didn't buy this rifle by the train loads..vastly superior in operation, accuracy and not nearly as hard to keep clean..never..NEVER jams..I would go anywhere with it against any enemy....anytime...Ruger builds the best firearms in the world...I'll argue that till hell freezes!!!
I have a first generation mini 14 that I had taken out and was plugging a 2 foot diameter flat rock in a river out 400 plus yards( steep hill sides out in the middle of nowhere so dont give me crap about firing at water!, hit it all day long off hand, Ruger doesnt make shit period. I guess what I am saying is I wasnt even trying that hard, mine at least is very accurate. I love the full wood stock, excallent grain. I when I buy weapons typical switch to synthetic stocks, not this one.
The gun isn't mine, it belongs to a friend ogf mine who's in apprenticeship to become a gunsmith. He still isn't satisfied with the final result, so I can't really quote a price on it. BTW, he's done some impressive work on the trigger module as well, and it now breaks crisply at 1560g (about3.5lbs)
I wouldn't say these are bad guns and there not a great gun but they are 1000 time better than any AK
What can be done to a mini 14 or 30 if you want to spend the money is make them a real accurate shooter .
I owned 4 Mini 14's all of then shot terrible for my liking so I studied how to build AR's, now I build my own AR's from parts then I get a rifle that is a super accurate rifle from the start .
You must not know much about firearms. Mini 14s are infamous for being one of the most unreliable and inaccurate rifles ever made. And Ruger's QC is just as bad. I think recent production mini14s are a little better than they used to be, but they still suck. I shot a 6" group at 50 yards with a mini14, then I shot a 1.5 inch group with my mosin nagant at 100 yards. I also know a man who worked for Ruger. So, I speak from experience; it's a shit gun from a shit company.
@KommandoOver9000 I have owned several of the rifles so I actually do speak from experience. If you were shooting 6" groups with it at 50 yards there was something wrong with yours. I'm not saying the thing is a match rifle, but it is a solid firearm.
@KommandoOver9000 You must just suck with a mini 14, the Ruger mini 14 and 10/22 are some of the most reliable guns ever made and the new minis are not a little better, they are alot better. Accuracy is very good, I know I own one.
@KommandoOver9000 two things i noticed on your ever so informative post...the "i think" and the "I also know a man who worked for Ruger. So, I speak from experience"
i dont care what you think, and you arent speaking from PERSONAL experience so STFU
fuck yeah, thats gonna be a sick gone, boy would i love to have that, purchasing my second mini next month, Gonna be badass. Coyotes cringe over the mini
But as far as I remember, the magazine and maybe the bolt and extractor are modified Mini 30 parts.
BTW he's working on the gas system to make it more flexible with regards to load levels. More videos coming up in the near future, hopefully including testfiring with subsonic loads.
how expensive it's the .458 round ?

That's a 7.62x39 round not a .223.
stchman 1 year ago
@stchman, if you read the description, you'll see it's neither, it's a .458 SOCOM round.
hpjorgensen 1 year ago 20
@stchman LOL Even the mini 14s fire .223.

Why the hell would you covert such a shit gun?
KommandoOver9000 1 year ago
@KommandoOver9000 Have you ever fired one? They are plenty accurate and completely reliable. I wouldn't classify a Mini 14 as a "shit gun."

So you admit the old ones were "a lot" worse than the new ones. Case and point.

@KommandoOver9000 Yes I do agree with you about that, just not the "little" part.

@hpjorgensen I've been wanting someone to make a mini 14 in .450 bushmaster. You should run it by him.
