So i dont know how youtube led me here but it happened. And just after one song im in love! lol If you ever come to Canada, British Colombia. You should play at the streaming Cafe in kelowna!! Perfect set for you [: Plus i would love to hear you.
This is such beautiful work Lauren. I know both Bill and Hazel would be proud to hear what you have done. Your a great musician and i hope u reach far.
Love the mad Dr. Frankenstein in the lab at 4 a.m. vibe. After a couple dozen listens (to gain my composure a bit): the instrumentals are just good, fun, genius-girl-in-the basement stuff, but I think the vocal is truly something... sublime. Puts me in mind of Cobain singing "In the Pines."
hi, i really like your version. could you please tell me what the chords are to this song? i cant find them, and, im not too good at guessing by ear. thanks
sdlkfjasldkfjslkdfj you are the coolest. This video, The Way I Feel Inside, your hilarious REM cover with Julia Nunes, and many more plus your originals I Belong To You and The Daylight Here are some of my favourite YouTube videos ever. You have this amazing ability to take a decent song and bring out the magic of it, the essence of it, until it has six more dimensions than it did before. I love your voice, I love your songs, your song choices....don't ever stop making music, not that you would.
I'm fairly certain I know all the words to your original songs and I love your covers too. Your lyrics are very soothing to the soul. I can't wait for your new album!
I should tell you, I dated a nice girl for awhile, and our song was I Belong To You. And now that we've broken up, I'm listening to this a good bit. All too fitting. Thanks for writing music to go along with my life, Lauren. Cheers! -jack
Someone was so awed with this song that they had a sudden eargasm that twitched their finger to accidentally push the dislike button. let this be a warning to everyone, push the like button AFTER the eargasm. nameste
Curious... if you'll indulge a fellow musician... if you handle all the song production yourself, and about what frame time does it take for you to complete a piece such as this... thanks... -JB
@jfknb Hey JB. It depends, and it's sort of hard to add up. The combined hours in the studio probably on this one probably don't add up to more than 30 (including mixing, excluding video editing), but I always give myself a fair amount of time to walk away from projects and come back, if I'm the only one working on it. I think I did this over the course of like 2-3 weeks.
@pesterseagles Percussion. Even if my first shot at drums (or stomping, or whatever) isn't exactly what I want for the song, I think it's important to at least nail down the feel of it before recording anything else.
Lauren, finding there is a new video from you is always like discovering a small treasure. Your covers always offer an interesting and unique take on the material, and your originals are very strong. Please keep writing and recording. Back here in Wormtown (just South of Fitchburg) we are loving what you do.
I've been racking my peanut trying to figure out who you sound like in this song. I finally asked my granny...she nodded knowingly and got the Led out...you sound like a young Robert Plant!...
My grandfather died last night. He was the best one, 'cause he tought me everything about life... This is my Soundtrack! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this! Thank you!
got to listen to you first time last week and I dont know how you did it, but listening to you has become an addiction the first time I heard your voice.
From O Death to Diamonds & Gold to Holy Roller Novacaine to this - I love your choice of material & how you perform it (oh yeah, & white noise & daylight here & trying to break your heart & cetera). Really great stuff Lauren.
How about covering Bob Dylan's "Man In The Long Black Coat"? I first heard this song when Joan Osborne covered it on her "Relish" album. It's one of my favorites.
Bill Monroe lived just down the road from me over in Bean Blossom, IN, home of the Bill Monroe Bean Blossom Jamboree. Never got a chance to meet me though. Unfortunate.
Miss, I played this out loud, and my mom came in and asked who this was. I told her about you, and she said she loved it. She HATES anything not Indian or Bengali. Making that mean something. You are LSKJDFALSKDFJ SO AMAZING. >.<
