They just this idea also in an episode of Supernatural where Dean and Sam weren't hunters en there mother and Sam's girlfriend were still alive.
Sam and Dean weren't friends and the people they saved were actually dead because they weren't hunters. Al this happen't because Dean was captured by a Demon and was in a dream world, Love The Buffy episode and haven't seen the Charmed episode yet.
I havent seen this episode yet but i read it up on wikipedia and i had to read it twice as it was so confusing, im looking foward to seeing this episode!
I cant deal with the possibility that the show takes place in her head. So lets just say the end was just the hallucinogen leaving her system, kthxbye
The 2003 Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic book Slayer, Interrupted
(based of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer 6th Season episode normal again) picks up where Viva Las Buffy (published in 2002) and The Origin (published in 1999) left off and right before A Stake to the Heart (published in 2004) which takes place in the summer of 1996 prior to the events in Welcome to the Hellmouth and buffy was sent to the mental institution before she moved to sunnydale
I think Brain Drain (Charmed) and Normal Again (Buffy) are stories from completely different shows. It's true that the storyline of each episode is similar, I agree, but Brain Drain was release on November 2001 and Normal Again was on March 2002. I love Buffy but we must to realize who did show this idea at first. Anyway, I think it doesn't matter who wrote it first, because both are great episodes, and they will use this idea again in another show because that's how TV works. Recycling.
Normal again has always been in my top ten Buffy episodes. I love and hate it equally. I thought the premise was brilliant but i find it hard to watch. It squeezes my heart.
This episode still blows my mind. I legitimately cannot think about it. I can't think that there's even a possibility that vampire slayers aren't real.
@cho474chang oh Giles, what a big penis u have.it was like in ur mother's womb there was no room for ur body because ur penis took it all up and ur mother inflated with huge Giles Penis.his body grew 6 months after he was born. Oh wuch a large dick he has but the problm is that it wont fit in my mouth. He can push and pull as much as he wants but there will never be any room for it. So he has to put it in my butt, but then I poop all over his cock and it smells bad and the cum doesnt taste good
I think Buffy could totally be in a mental institution and the entire series is a mental patient's psycho universe. I looove it. Angel wouldn't really be a series though if that we true, but still!
This episode ended though with the suggestion that her stay in the asylum could possibly be real and that what the doctors told her all along was in fact the truth. It was one of those episodes that could be taken either way, you could believe it or just sum it up to the venom from the demon making her think she was in an asylum or she really was crazy for the last 6 years of her life.
"There's something I've noticed: this Buffy episode is a lot like the Smallville episode "Labyrinth."
For those of you wondering how, think about it: both Buffy and Clark were drugged/brainwashed by their enemies into believing that they were in a mental hospital and that their superhero lives were nothing but insane fantasies. Of course, the main difference is that Clark believed that he was in the asylum the whole time, while Buffy only flashed back and forth."
@Nintendoman01 it's not a coincidence...the episode is actually the same...the same guy wrote it or something...only buffy used it first...then charmed...don't know about the third show...watched only buffy and charmed...
@dagnyjetties "After being poisoned by a demon, Buffy comes to believe that she is confined to a mental hospital, her mother is alive, her parents are still together, and that her life as a Slayer has all been an hallucination for the past six years.Piper is told that Prue is still alive and has already been released from the hospital. As stated in an issue of Charmed Magazine, the reason for this is because the episode writer offered similar scripts to both shows, with Buffy using the idea first
@lukarekalic I've seen the episodes from both show. I was just confused as to the the different writers. I disagree that the episodes are the same. I think one of the most poignant differences between these episodes is the lack of resolution regarding the validity of Buffy's hallucinations, where as the viewers of Charmed are given no room for doubt that Pipe'sr mind was being controlled. This makes them completely different in my mind.
@dagnyjetties yeah maybe...but they can't make a totally same episode...they had to change it a lil bit...and buffy gave it it's own twist...but the idea is the same...all in all both are great episodes...especially the buffy one...the ending is just mindblowing...really good episode...
@lukarekalic I have no idea what you are talking about. Normal Again was written by Diego Gutierrez and the Charmed episode I think you are talking about (called 'Brain Drain') was written by Curtis Kheel. The two episodes are completely different. The only thing they have in common is a mental institution.
@Surviveandcharm In that Charmed episode, "Brain Drain," only Piper was tricked into thinking she was in a mental institution. Phoebe and Paige weren't really there, Piper just thought they were. That was a good episode, though, and I love Holly Marie Combs' (Piper) acting skills. However, I totally liked this Buffy episode, "Normal Again," too, and I actually liked the way the story went better in this one than in the Charmed one.
@Nintendoman01 yes, but in smallville you actually found out that it was the enemies but in buffy if you really think about it. Either one could have been the reality.

@Nintendoman01 its also similar to an episode of charmed where the 3 witches in the show wake up in a mental institution...
funnily enough.. this buiffy epiosde came before both smallville and charmed episodes

@Surviveandcharm Huh. Three former WB shows where the heroes are tricked into believing they're nuts. Coincidence?
