Kara Walker, in my opinion, is the best artist of the 21st century and her work is so packed with history, fiction, and everything in between that whole books could be written about it. In fact, there have been full books about it! When art students only have five words to say about a Kara Walker piece... a sad day, in my opinion.

I think the video is about how to quote a racist concept. I use quote in the sense that the artist would not want to act like the image portrays. The image is hardcore racist ideology. In the U.S. the impact is greater because sex is taboo subject to discourse about. Showing a more historical image of black workers on plantations with white overseers in the scene. Showing an image like that shows 'racism' too, but the quoting context is clear.

I like this film because it puts me in the classroom, asking myself the questions the teacher is asking the students. The movie could be expanded to include interviews with students who had extreme reactions, (comments longer than two or three words)--students who might be able to expound on their outrage.
