I can understand the Tanner family advising us to put safety glass in our windows and everything, (props to them for that,) but what if there were a fire in your house, you had safety glass on all the windows, and going out a window was your only chance to escape. Would you be able to do it?

Yes. Safety glass still breaks, it just breaks into tiny pieces so that you don't get large dangerous shards (which are what cause all the glass injuries on Rescue 911).

You are correct, it was paired with "Phoenix Flood II", but it was only the mother in the car; the daughter wasn't with her. Both segments were part of Episode 406, so they didn't really split them for syndication, they just took the third and fourth segments of that episode.

It usually happens from a puncture/laceration wound. A puncture stabs straight in and the laceration tears the wound open, which allows the organ to escape through the hole. The wound is called an evisceration injury.

Incidentally, you have to cut more than 2 inches through the skin to get through the 3 muscles layers that protect the abdominal cavity. Going through the back to expose the colon is a deeper wound. It's an extremely severe laceration.

The rolling motion of the chair combined with gravitational pull caused the cut to be so deep. In Paramedic training, that's called Method Of Injury.

Shows why you need safety glass, which is shatter resistant. Injuries like that are uncommon with safety glass, but ALL glass should still be treated as a potential danger. The chairs and table should have NEVER been in front of the door.

There's a lot of clips of someone somehow getting cut by a window or door on this show. There's the little 5yr old who ran through the door, the teenager who fell through the window and nearly severed her arms and a lot more. Those things are really dangerous. From this clip I learned to NEVER let a child play by glass even if its in a chair near a window.

The part of this video that really got to me was when the little girl told her mom that she loved her and her mom was thinking that was the last time they'd ever say that to each other. First time I saw that, I cried my eyes out, and it stayed with me for the rest of the day. I was so glad that the girl survived.

omg this one had me in tears because i was baby sittig a kid once who fell through the window by rocking on his chair... he was fine only a few minor cuts but all it takes is for you to take your eyes off of them for a second and thats when it happens.
