To those bringing up the previous persecution of Christians... two wrongs don't make a right. By your acceptance of persecution BY Christians, you appear to suggest the behavior is perfectly alright.

The fact that Christians persecuted others shows that Christians didn't accept the words of Jesus. If you know anything about the USA today, with its teabag party, evangelists, and religious bigots, you'll see the loudest proponents of Christianity don't understand the teachings of Jesus. Shame.

I'm saying that a Roman emperor declaring the empire to suddenly be Christian does not make the people in the empire Christian. Constantine was co-opting Christianity because Rome could not stamp it out. Becoming a Christian happens through the grace of the new birth, not by Roman decree.

Show me the passage in scripture that says an emperor can make anyone a Christian.

Constantine allegedly discontinued it in 337 ce, Theodosius II legally prohibited it in 438 ce, yet Christians still used crucifixion as late as 582 ce. There is evidence that it continued into the middle ages even modern times as "strappado" or "palestinian hanging." The Inquisition were known to crucify people upside-down. Impalement is another method of crucifixion and was practiced in the 1600s in Holland.

Just goes to show, there is no morality in Christianity.
