I must say that Moriadin's comments hit me hard. It's obvious that a man (woman? hermaphrodite?) of his level and range of expression, as evidenced here and with other posts, must be somebody one would want to impress.
This is a complete blasphemy! Play Moonlight Sonata the way it was writen instead of taking yourself for some "professional" of classical music. This is full of bullshit!
These guys are pretty funny (intentionally, I'm sure). I especially like when the camera pans over to the window looking (unsuccessfully) for the moonlight.
Oookay. I expected you to actually "play" the composition and not talk during the entire session. Moreover I do so agree with the unseen gentleman that you sound extremely mechanical. In fact, "mechanical" does not truly define the way you performed the composition, plastic would be more appropriate. The simple fact that you moved your body, does not mean the composition itself expressed any emotion. It was like mixing white paint with a wooden ladel.
Mad..thats all I can say..the next thing you will be telling us that the notes resemble the facial features of Leonardo da Vinci!!!...But fair play for thinking outside the box.Thats how we evolve and the mind allows us all to do these things.
The original title for the 'Moonlight' Sonata is 'Quasi una Fantasia' meaning 'almost a fantasy'.
The name 'Moonlight' Sonata was coined some years following Beethoven's death. In the 1830s, German poet and music critic Heinrich Friedich Ludwig Rellstab thought that the song reminded him of how the moonlight reflected off the waters of Lake Lucerne, in Switzerland. 'Moonlight' Sonata has since been the 'official unofficial' name.
thanks for posting. It's awesome that you visualize the piece with mechanical analogies. I hear music frequently in terms of water and nature - or physics. Check out the moonlight I posted. I played the consistentcy you're talking about at the beginning, but more with only the bottom note

This guy is a brilliant pianist with extraordinary imagination and an incredible sense of humour.
Perhaps he will now favour us with a rendition of the 3rd Movement (presto agitato) and an insight into Mr Beethoven's motives when writing it ?

Dear Mr Mattoid,
There's no point in posting two contradictory messages. Either you agree with the pianist or you don't. Make your mind up.
Concertpianist1978 4 years ago
I'm so sorry. Prevarication is one of my hobbies, so making my mind up is anathema.

Congradulations on your highly creative imagination. As you continue to re-invent your own wheel, prepare yourself for adversity.
