It is getting rather tedious finding an interesting video only to sit through it in complete silence... Except WMG can legally file a lawsuit against YouTube if they don't remove your video that has that 5 seconds of song in it. They have the legal right to do so, for every video with infringing audio.

story: I had a video that had lyrics to a song. Over the course of a year or so I got 30,000 views on it and WMG did nothing about it until it got to about 25,000 views. After 25,000 views, they said it matched third party content. I let it go, and then a month or two later, it got deleted! Then i went straight to a source of a list of bands owned by WMG and guess what????...THE BAND WHO I USED IN THE VIDEO WASN'T EVEN OWNED BY WMG at all! FUCKING JERKS I HOPE THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

People can downvote my comments all they want, but it doesn't change the fact that it is the hard-coded truth. Pretending that you're above the law and refusing to follow them not only makes you look stupid, but it also gets you thrown in jail, or fined.

After reading the comments section Onsube's comments stood out to me. He seems to have the industry's interests at heart, complete with the smugness that comes with knowing they control everything. The music industry on many levels has so much conntrol over what is promoted/visable and the existance of site like YouTube is a threat to that power. That's why the music industry seeks to control YT. Of course, they do it only as it benefits them, so things that they want promoted don't get pulled.
The interest of the industry is not to have totalitarian control over music. It's to make a profit. It doesn't matter if the law is unfair, or if the law is controlling. The law stands. If you want to listen to music, you need to buy music, or listen to a radio station that is licensed to play that music.
If you don't like the law, you can always politely ask your local governor to try and change it. I'm sure he'll listen.
Regardless of whether that's true, copyright infringement is still illegal. Trying to be a rebel and acting tough only gets you in legal trouble; actually working towards getting the law modified is the right thing to do.

The problem is a lack of innovation, Corporate greed and laziness on the part of the music industry they still think we are living in the 70's and dont want to change with the times and find new ways to make money rather than the individual pay as you go program when it comes to music use on the internet..at the heart copyright laws are not the problem
One more thing when a license to use music is purchased most of the time it is by companies who want to use the songs for advertisement to make there own financial gain the case with youtube is very different and should be treated as a different case..and a way to make money for both sides should be thought of and alll music should be under a free use agreement with youtube and music groups..
Not to mention when someone makes a video and uses a song and of course gives the artist credit it is in reality free advertisment to boot the only reason all music is not under some sort of free use agreement is because of lack of imagination and corporate greed and laziness..though a company like google has made an enormous amount of money with out having an individual pay as you go system because it is not practical in this day and age..

Unfortunately for you, any music that is not your creation and which is used in your video is considered "copyright infringement". The big music/media corporations such as UMG, Warner and Viacom don't just "own" their music, they also own the "rights" to them, including how and where "their music" can be publicly presented.
Thus, they are 100% within their rights to claim the music in your video as their own -- especially if you have not paid them for "licensing fees", "distribution rights", "royalties", and/or "expressed written permission" to use and "broadcast" their music on YouTube.
Even if you bought it legally (and can prove it!), that does not entitle you to, in their eyes, "distribute" it illegally for free -- or to have your video potentially come across as though you may be a commercial agent or official representative of theirs. It may not be your intention, but for the copyright owner, you may be involuntarily defaming them, the music or the artist.

Yes, it's copyright infringement if you play the music at that party. If you are not licensed to distribute music and you distribute it, you are breaking US law and the law of other countries as well. This is an -illegal act- and a -crime-, and no amount of your complaining or "WMG SUCKS" videos on Youtube is going to change this.
In order to use the music legally, you need to acquire permission from the people who own the music. Otherwise, it is illegal to distribute the music.

It doesn't matter if it's practical or not, or whether you like it or not. It's still against the law and you can be sued, fined, or go to jail for doing it. This is why YouTube complies with WMG's takedown requests, because they do not want to be sued for "illegal distribution" of their music.

It is getting rather tedious finding an interesting video only to sit through it in complete silence... If WMG want us to ask for permission perhaps several million of us should apply for it.. like all on the same day.. repeatedly... for a few months... at least if they don't allow any permission it'll give them something else to do other than blocking audio from our videos.....

story: I had a video that had lyrics to a song. Over the course of a year or so I got 30,000 views on it and WMG did nothing about it until it got to about 25,000 views. After 25,000 views, they said it matched third party content. I let it go, and then a month or two later, it got deleted! Then i went straight to a source of a list of bands owned by WMG and guess what????...THE BAND WHO I USED IN THE VIDEO WASN'T EVEN OWNED BY WMG at all! The music industry on many levels has so much conntrol over what is promoted/visable and the existance of site like YouTube is a threat to that power. That's why the music industry seeks to control YT. Of course, they do it only as it benefits them, so things that they want promoted don't get pulled.

The interest of the industry is not to have totalitarian control over music. It's to make a profit. It doesn't matter if the law is unfair, or if the law is controlling. The law stands. If you want to listen to music, you need to buy music, or listen to a radio station that is licensed to play that music.
If you don't like the law, you can always politely ask your local governor to try and change it. I'm sure he'll listen.

The big music/media corporations such as UMG, Warner and Viacom don't just "own" their music, they also own the "rights" to them, including how and where "their music" can be publicly presented.

Yes, it's copyright infringement if you play the music at that party. If you are not licensed to distribute music and you distribute it, you are breaking US law and the law of other countries as well. This is an -illegal act- and a -crime-, and no amount of your complaining or "WMG SUCKS" videos on Youtube is going to change this.
In order to use the music legally, you need to acquire permission from the people who own the music. Otherwise, it is illegal to distribute the music.

It doesn't matter if it's practical or not, or whether you like it or not. It's still against the law and you can be sued, fined, or go to jail for doing it. This is why YouTube complies with WMG's takedown requests, because they do not want to be sued for "illegal distribution" of their music.

well its like GTA you do missions, its a sandbox type game you can free roam and do anything that you can do in GTA its pretty fun but TCNY is glitchy, its on PS2 i think xbox and PC not sure i just have the PS2 one.

10 out of my 16 videos got copyrighted and it was f**king stupid. I mean, what the hell were WMG and YouTube thinking? I wish they never did this. :(
