I would think this period had mostly ended in 1966, when the group decided they would no longer tour after their San Francisco, California concert at Candlestick Park.

The wierdest thing is that this whole beatlemania thing took place before the beatles showed their true musical genius. Their early stuff was mainly covers and simple(ish) pop songs. Not to say that their early stuff wasn't good, since it certainy was, but their best music came after their screaming fans went. Maybe it was because they stopped touring? I don't know, but i think we can all agree that the beatles will be remembered for as long as people live, and deservedly so.
