i have both those sets and lots more and i really like them theyre fun to build and do what ever your imagination takes you to do with them

But I have to say that the more things change, the more they stay the same, a lot of the same pieces from 18 years ago are still used today and are still compatible which is brilliant, (found out that pieces made in the late 1940s still work with todays pieces). But the level of detail in todays sets is very noticeable as there are more specialised parts which causes problems is individual pieces go missing, although I will admit they do look great. I recently got my nephew a fire brigade pick-up truck (No.7942) and noticed that the doors don't open, they did on my old set why not on these new ones? What happened to this simple and practical feature?? The police car you have reviewed looks a bit odd; because of the wheels its more of a 4x4 than a car, its not symmetrical and its a bit ugly. If they had a police pick-up truck or a jeep I would understand but it just looks wrong. (continued)
