  • You are right, Zac, this is a white squirrel, not an albino. I wasn't aware that there was such a thing until i saw this video, and did a little research on my own. The white squirrel, as you said, is different from the albino in that the white has black eyes, and the albino has pinkish or red eyes. Really neat, thanks for posting!

  • Thats not a squirrel thats a large rat with a big fluffy tail. They're vermin, should shoot it

  • i like you... but you are a HORRIBLE camera man... lol seriously.

  • you don't see obino's often, whats just as rare is the opposite of obino with is when the color gene is too active making it black, i don't remember what it is called. the only squirrel i see is when they tease my cat, they litterly stand on the window ledge shaking their butts teasing my cat, its funny.

  • i hike in lake tahoe califonia many times and never seen one in my life that is pretty cool.

  • Yep, white squirrel, not albino. but yes rare, we used to have a couple by my house in PA, but cars hit one, and then haven't seen any more in a while.

  • The city of Olney,Illinois is the white squirrel capital of the world. If anyone is caught killing one, they will go to jail. They are rare, but if you go there, as we do often on our way to Lawrenceville,IL, you will probably see one at this old park on the edge of town. We just saw one 2 days ago. Didn't take too long to spot it either.

  • @carverdavet Olney, Illinois is the "Home of the White Squirrel"

  • Where I live there are two area nearby that you can be guarenteed to see white squirrels. Black squirrels actually come in every shade from black to white. Most grey squirrels are actually black squirrels. Clinton Ontario Canada has many as does Windsor Ontario, Canada. White squirrels are completely common and normal in both of those locations, they are not albino.

    Have fun looking

  • Is he a bit scratched?

  • Hey Great to see you back.

Hope you will not abandon us again for such a long time,

    Keep making these great videos

  • I live near Brevard, NC and they have a White Squirrel festival because there are quite a few white squirrels here

  • Nice. Yes it is extremely rare for one (albino or white) to survive in nature. Very beautiful. Thanks for sharing as I have never seen an albino or white before.

  • Amazing!

  • OMG....THAT IS DEFINTELY AN ALBINO SQUIRREL..ur soooo lucky to have seen that...:D

  • @sushigirlkrs A pokemon. It's like a serpenty dragony thing.

  • Wow amazing. I have seen albino squerrels. They are beautiful creatures. So are albino Deer. Great video zak. I miss you and kellys videos!! And I miss seeing your dogs

  • This is a leucistic squirrel. It's rare in the wild, but common in domesticated animals. White cats, piebald horses, etc. We humans love to breed leucistic animals for the aesthetic appeal, but possessing this trait is not in the animal's interest. One of my leucistic cat is congenitally deaf and it's not a coincidence. These animals are also at high risk of skin cancer as their white coat's don't adequately protect them from the sun. Hope the little guy in your vid sticks to the shade.

  • its not albino, there's just a defect in the dna strand that made it white. its eyes would have to be pinkish red for it to be albino, but it is rare for u to see a white squirrel just like seeing an albino. glad u caught it on camera :)

  • Very Cool! At our local beach, there are lots of Black Squirrels running around. The white squirrel you saw, does look like an albino squirrel. I read about albino squirrels in an animal magazine. Great job on catching it on tape!!!

  • Maybe it has been the same squirrel twice?

Agree with you on the eyes.. not red/ pink enough.

  • my first time seeing a white squirrel! cool ! once i saw a really light grey silver squirrel before with a yellowish belly... years ago

  • Nice catch Zak! I've never seen one of these before. Very cool!

Around where I live we have a huge population of a particular color of squirrel. Give me a day or two and i'll post a vid for ya.

  • you ever notice how white squirrels walk like this .... and dark squirrels walk like THIS? and what's with these airplane peanuts?

... beautiful squirrel, though. The squirrels at my university were fat and dirty.

  • I miss your daily vlogs SOOOO much!! I really REALLY hope you will consider making them again :) We all miss Nova's beautiful face :D

  • omgggg. its so cute! ive never seen one like that, but it really makes me want a white chocolate reeses peanut butter cup....im just saying

  • I agree, WOW! But it doesnt look albino to me, if you look at albino rabbits or albino rats you see that the eyes is really really red. I've never seen anything like that so thanks for sharing! :D Ive seen an albino human (we get really really blue eyes like albino horses instead of red) and ive seen an albino rat, rabbit, ferret and a reindeer that i dont know if it was white or albino. Probably just white :)

  • Oh i forgot, ive seen an albino hedgehog aswell :)

  • I never saw one before

  • It's a white Squirrel, not an albino.

  • @patryric red eyes indicate albino.

  • I saw one many times in London at the west Norwood Park!!! I was amazed too ;)

  • Thats really cool! Ive never seen an albino squirrel!

  • I have seen a white squirrel once in Washington DC. Where I am from black squirrels are very popular, but the gray ones still are the dominant color.

  • god horrible filming bro!!! but nice spotting!

  • That is so awesome! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!

  • I have seen one before Zak and it is very rare to my understanding. Great footage

  • NEVER seen one!! That is sooo cool!!! :)

YOu're lucky that you got to see one!!

  • Nope, never seen a white/albino squirrel. Maybe this is the same squirrel that you've seen before. Then you would have seen the same squirrel twice now!

  • You say they are extremely rare but you've seen them a couple of times in your area. Maybe on both occasions it was the same squirrel you saw? lol Ive never seen one in person but ive seen pictures and they are amazing creatures.

  • I didn't even know they existed.

Zak, you need to post more random videos like this.. even on your Twitter! We miss your videos. TU if you agree. :-)

  • i saw a black one with a half white tail, and one with just a little white tail tip. it was kind of exciting.

  • Yes, this is just a white squirrel. Albino animals have red eyes. I used to think the same thing but then I found out that albinos have to have red eyes as well as be white. lol But this is still a SUPER rare squirrel. I haven't finished watchin this vid yet so you way have already discovered this. Let me keep watching....MISSED YOUR VIDS!!!

  • thanks for sharing! that was the first time I saw an albino squirrel lol i didn't know they existed

  • @calligrapen09 i think there is an albino everything

  • Wow that looks so awesome. Great find!

  • Are you here in Ga.? I saw at Georgia Tech administration building once! Can you imagine how difficult it has been for this little precious squirrel to have survived thus far...? And they all have such cute personalities!

  • no i have never seen a white squirrel! that's so rare! it's like catching a shiny garados from pokemon gold

  • @sparty007 Or heartgold and soulsilver :)

  • @sparty007 haha so true.

  • @sparty007 well in pokemon soul silver u can get one freely from the raging lake.

  • Wow that is great!! I have never seen one.

  • LOL I have a laser in my hand and my dogs going off the walls almost literally

  • like how the squirrel move his tails!!!so cute XD missed your training videos!!!

  • It's probably a leucistic gene, and not albino. The leucistic ones can have black, grey or blue eyes. But I don't know though, might be an albino.. Doesn't matter, it's really awesome either way!

  • cool! first timne i've heard of the species. :o

OMG IM THE 666th viewer D:

    this is baaaaddd.....

  • yeah we have them all over columbus, ohio where im from

  • Don't your dogs help to control the squirrel population in your backyard? Mine are pretty good at controlling the squirrel population even on lead.

But yep, cool find and thanks for sharing.

  • i get amazed to when i see stuff like this

  • I've seen a normal brown squirrel with an albino tail! Very odd!

  • no. its albino cuz i swear i SAW pink eyes.

  • thats badass

  • cooool!!

  • why do you look so tired?

  • white squirrels are kinda common but albinos are extremely rare.

  • If you have a backyard, why do you go to the park every day to train your dogs? Wouldn't it be more convenient to just to go behind the house instead of driving all the way to the park? Just asking. =P

  • The inside of the ears look reddish too which could be a sign! Very cool

  • SUPER CUTE!!

i once had someone trying to get me to believe a weasel was a white squirrel. they were hunters and had found the little guy in one of their traps and saved it to show me, as i was the "local animal expert" i took one look at it and said "thats a weasel" they kept insisting it was a squirrel, so i pointed out the fact that weasels have sharp canine teeth whereas squirrels do not have canines at all. they should have known better, they just wanted it to be a white squirrel.

  • reaaally shakey. but i never knew such squirrels exist!

  • im mad at you!!

  • i havent seen one

  • The eyes looked reddish to me. Hope you can get better footage of it next time (have tripod ready).

  • wow, so pretty. I have never seen a white squirrel before.

  • I haven't seen one. They are just as cute as the brown ones!! :-D

  • cool never seen a white one a wonder how he or she got his or her color

  • There's one of these that live in the park outside my house. ^^ He comes around a lot. What is suprising is, we've been seeing him for 7 years... I don't think squirrels live that long, do they? Maybe they're breeding! :o

  • i love guys who love animals(:

  • ive seen them like 6 times.

  • I think it's just a white squirrel, albino's have red or light blue eyes.

  • AGHHH!!! SOOOO happy u updated me and my best friend have been bummed out and kept looking at youtube and twitter for some hope xD lol and omg he's so cute! :o he's one of a kind <3 :D i've nvr seen an albino squirrel b4 i want to tho :o btw my sis bought me an autographed frisbee for my bday this saturday im SOOOO excited! im gonna bring it to school when i get it and make my friend jealous xD lol

  • white rat!!!!!!!!!!

  • the gene is called leucistic and it is more rare than albino. they are both receive traits and both parents need to carry the genes for it. and only 1/4 will be the desired trait that you saw. so even if one is leucistic and the other isn't caryng the gene it wont show in the babies but they will be caries. now if a leucistic does breed to one that carys the gene it will be 1/2 of the offspring that are white.

  • im sorry i Unsubscribed

  • paint it white but the tail and it will look like a cute skunk ;)

  • i never saw one waaaaaaaaaaaaaw ^^

  • Omg that's friggen awesome i've never seen a white squirrel either. !

  • wow its gorgeous! thanks for sharing this with us :)

  • Thats AMAZINGLY COOL! I love your show it's awsome!

  • we have a lot of white squirrels were I live I don't think that's what you think it is, however white squirrels are sopose to be some of the meanist squirrels.

  • You should look for post on craigslist... because this could very well be someones pet that got away, maybe you might want to see if there are lost listings for it. But becareful because if people find out they might want to catch it if its wild. But I have seen there sold in exotic pet stores for 200. Especially you've seen it twice and your area isn't common in albino squirrels but then it could be a fluke i just thought I would bring that up from something for you to keep in mind..

  • You should catch it then raise it as your own

  • wow this is amazing... thanks for sharing..

  • I've seen red ones and dwarf. But never white...

  • AWSOME!

  • there are no squirrels in the country where i live so i've never even seen a squirrel in my life ! :P

  • cool...

  • Wah, I never seen one in my life! You're so lucky. Now to see a black squirrel that would be so amazing.

  • o cool, if this was pokemon.. it'd be a shiny one

  • Zak - there is a "family" of white squirrels in the Bowling Green, Ohio area. They are found specifically in the area of the local hospital. It is not uncommon to see three or four of them at a time, playing and feeding on the lawn of the hospital. About 30 miles to the South, in Bluffton, Ohio a "family" of all Black squirrels can be found.

  • This is soo cool! I'm gonna keep a look out! i want to see one in my yard! lol[:

  • I have never seen a white squirrel! The squirrels in my country (Belgium) are a lot smaller than this one as well! Things like this are always fun to watch, thx for sharing!

  • I have never seen this, nor did I know it existed! How amazing! Great job grabbing the camera!

  • Thanks for sharing! I love white animals! So cute.

  • aww how pretty

  • Oh, there actually WAS a white squirrel!

I was sure you were kidding - it just felt like a setup. I was waiting to see someone in a costume, or perhaps a dog that looked like a squirrel. Haha. I is sorry for doubting you. Anyway, cool squirrel. I've never seen a white one.

  • Olney, Illinois, is known for their albino squirrels...

  • cool. never saw that before.
