Are these JBA Shortys hard to install? i have an 06 dodge dakota 4.7l HO. I dont think the headers have an o2 sensor attached so i assume it would be straight forward, disconnect from the Y Pipe remove the headers remove grit on manifold from original gaskets and install new headers/gaskets?

@mmahousenet No they are not too difficult to install. The headers do not have an o2 sensor attached because the o2 sensors are on the cats. Basically all i had to do was unbolt the 8 bolts on each manifold and the 2 bolts on each flange. Afterwards, its all about putting on the new headers. It took me about an hour to install the headers because the passenger side header was pretty difficult to get to so you will have to take off your intake in order to access the headers.
...This is awful. 0-60 in 7.78 seconds? With all those mods, are you kidding me?
Dakotas are such toys, I'm sorry. A totally stock 05 Ram Crewcab with a 5.7L Hemi with 5 year old tires achieves 0-60 in 7.0 seconds. What is the POINT of a Dakota? It's smaller, weaker, and slower than a proper full size Ram.
The one saving grace is it can manage 115 mph. The Ram is governed at 108, but you can use the ignition key trick and take it up to 120ish.
@MarineHawk117 idk what crack yout smokin you show me a 05 ram hemi that can do 0-60 in 7secs ive got a tacoma that outruns my uncles ram hemi and it can only get 0-60 in mid to high 7s sr5 4.0L of course
There are countless variables that affect a vehicle's performance. Two big ones that I can think of are the mileage and the location. I have 17,000 miles and in South Fla, the elevation is 10 ft. So, given these conditions, with a good launch I get 0-60 in 7 sec. Check out my vid. No launch, just going from brake to gas. 7.2-7.3 ish sec.
... What kind of lame-ass response was that? Generally, people who live in trailer parks don't have $33,000 trucks. "you trailer park"?? I'm beginning to suspect that perhaps you're the one who calls a trailer park "home."
I'm real sorry you not only have a crappy, mini truck, but that it's performance is subpar. That must really suck.
@MarineHawk117 Just because someone has a nice truck or car, doesn't mean they live in a nice house. You should know this. Wow, like always, your intelligence proceeds you.
Well, it's been 5 minutes since I read that, and I am still laughing. Lol, how ironic... I think you're thinking of the word "precedes" not "proceeds" champ. Talking about a lack of intellect... I didn't say having a nice vehicle automatically means you have a nice home. But there's a difference between a modest, normal home... and a trailer park. Just how stupid are you? You DO realize trailer park means living in a TRAILER right? Not a house... dumbass.
well if i have my Superchips Performance tune installed, I average roughly 12-13 city mpgs and 15-16 highway mpgs(terrible i know) whereas when i take long trips i return the tune to stock which gives me around 17-18 city mpgs and 21-22 highway mpg.
@MACbook211 how does returning it to stock give you better gas mileage???... In my experience the superchips tune HELPS mpg not ruins it unless you cant keep your foot out of it!
All i could say is they are all very restricted as far as power and torque. I'll be honest, they are not impressive stock but with a little bit of money and time with your basic bolt-ons, you really start to open up the magnums potential. The 4.7L Magnum in my opinion is built strong (strong enough to run CAI, Headers, Exhaust, Plugs, Tune, and 75 shot nitrous with no problem)
hey nice truck i really like it. i have a 2008 dakota and im looking to do work to it. let me ask u tho what kind of superchip programmer did you use and how much was it?
Im using the Superchips Flashpaq Programmer which ran me around $350 if im not mistaken. Check out my CarDomain page to see my new setup with Nitrous! I'll be sure to make a video running nitrous soon. The link is under my info to the right
Yes and no. The headers gave the exhaust a crisper tone which is REALLY noticeable once you punch it...it sounds awesome under full throttle. The power on the other hand was kind of noticeable but nothing too major, but after i put on the Superchips tune, i could really feel the difference. My advise for anyones first mod would have to be a Superchips tune...it really opened everything up including horsepower and torque.
Im not too sure but its right around 300 all motor but with the nitrous its obviously more :) I'll try and get a new video up with all my new parts soon. I now have 20" Granite Alloy black and chrome rims, 275/45/20 Toyo Proxes ST II, 8000K HID Headlights (Blue), 3000K HID Foglights (Yellow), Zex Nitrous System with a Zex red L.E.D. Purge kit :)
nice truck! i have the same truck in silver. have the K&N cold air intake and will be adding a Flowmaster 50 series single exhaust within the next few weeks. I'll check back in to see the latest.
Thanks man! You should definitely invest in a Superchips programmer as well...it will open up your trucks torque and hp greatly! Be sure to post a video of your exhaust when you get it, i'd like to hear how the 50 sounds on the Dakotas. Have you decided on a setup? You should really consider an exhaust dump before the rear axle, it gives it the best sound in my opinion and you save a lot of money considering you won't need exhaust tips and piping! Goodluck with your investment man!
LMAO @ ur 8 second 0-60 v8!
my stock 4 banger gets like 6 seconds 0-60 LMAO!

@MarineHawk117 And as far as why people just don't buy the Ram. It can be a lot of things; price, size...economy. Its all about preference

@MarineHawk117 7 seconds in a truck is pretty good. Keep in mind slick, its not a 5.7 and these are only BOLT-ONS!!! You my friend, are an idiot.
joshua6200 1 year ago
No, if it had a 5.7L Hemi, I'd possibly be in love with it. "Slick"? Who're you, Tommy Lee Jones?
7 seconds in a truck *IS* good. 6.3 seconds in a Toyota Tundra 5.7L is *pretty good.*
7.8 seconds is lagging.

Well you're starting with an awful gear ratio, and the 05 and up dakotas are also heavier.
The 3.55 gear ratio really makes it feel like a dog.
