also, what do you use to get to the drain plug? a socket is too big to fit in there with the kick stand assebley right across from it. do I need an open end wrench?
I ended up getting a new 09 650 classic. What oil do you use in yours? The dealer wants me to bring it in for a 600 mile service but they want like $150 to do it. Don't know why I can't change the oil and filter and gear oil in my own garage. Do you do this yourself and is it pretty simple? Any help would be appreciated, the dealers charge way too much.
I love it when people get a bike then the pay money to put all kinds of shit to make it look and sound like a Harley. Just buy a real bike! Grow a fucking pair and do it!
If you add a bigger exhaust, and more air with a hypercharger then you will need to re-jet the bike! or the bike will be getting more air and the same fuel and will make it lean and run hot.. I am re-jetting my 04 650 V-star now, with V&H Exhaust and Hypercharger... I bought it and someone put bigger jets in it(122.5) and that is all they did? no resetting the mix at 3.5 or no shims for more air. and it has ran rich from the day i got it.I will be going down to a 117.5 jet so it won't be rich
This video is old. I have since added a Twin-V and rejetted with 122.5, 3.25 pms, 2 shims on the needles. Total difference now. Improved gas mileage also. I avg 50-55 mpg when I'm not riding it like I stole and then 45-50
They sound really good. Thanks for posting the vid. I have an '09 650 silverado and been thinking about buying the V&N Cruzers or Shortshots. Both sound good, but concerned the shortshots will hurt the saddlebags. Any reason to rejet you think?
what is re jeting?

Are these 650's any good for the higway? Can they handle 70+ and not vibrate you off. Thinking of getting one but the 650cc is scaring me away.
sonicbeerman 1 year ago
@sonicbeerman The V Star 650 can easily handle hwy speeds. I cruise at 70+ all the time....but it does have some vibiration in it.
If I did hwy riding a lot I would go wth a bigger bike.

How much difference did you get from stock jet to rejetting ? is it good enuf without the jet kit ?
jonwayne89 3 years ago
Ran fine without rejet.
pwrboter 3 years ago
No Rejet, What did that do to gas mileage and is it running lean or rich now?
summerg71105 3 years ago
I was getting 50mpg. It may have been a little lean. I've since installed a Kuryakyn TV+ rejetted and still getting 50mpg.

I like the fat black on your round air intake. Is it aftermarket? If it is where can I find it
tg2el6ue 4 years ago
tg2el6ue: that intake is stock. Next step, replace with a hypercharger.

Cruzers are cool. I've got the same ones on my Volusia. Take a look and listen.
