Slavik seems to be blissfully unaware that, while he may be amazing technically, that level of arrogance is anything but hot. But ignoring the 2 mins of nauseating strutting at the end - I LOVE this! Karina's body movements are amazing - can't take my eyes off her. Favourite cha cha routine ever:-D!!

@ilove2boogie At the end he is strutting around giving her time to change costume. Your comment about arrogance and strutting goes right along with what the cha cha is about. Cha cha is all about the man strutting and showing off to the woman. This Cha cha is one of the best in show of all the dancers I ever watched. I will give you the fact is that Slavik is an arrogant prick and that is why he can't keep a partner.

@janarosem More of a club dancer really. I spent allot of time in Latin America at seedy bars where the beer was hot and the women hotter. The type of dancing I do is not fit for ballroom but I can still do a cha cha that will heat the blood. I been a fan of ballroom ever since I saw it first on PBS as a kid.and I do go to competitions as a spectator. I have seen Slavik and Karina on several occasions and they never failed to please an audience and puts on great shows. To bad she retired.

well I understand all the work behind these competitions, but I don´t like how they dance. They are all much too agressive. the gesture are agressive, the hands and everything is so plastik and doesen´t look like they are really having fun, but just want to swirl their hips all the time. I don´t like this competition aestetics.

Alexus, I wondered (and posted earlier) about Max and Yulia. I thought they were married or engaged. Then they split and I saw Yulia with two partners (which doesn't mean anything), and Max is her/their choreographer. They just announced in 2008 they're "splitting." What that means, who knows.

I figured out what's slowing me down to Karina. Her leg movement (to me) doesn't appear as smooth or graceful. What am I missing, help me to see what you see!

Okay, you brought up an EXCELLENT point. While I'm hooked on Yulia, one thing I did notice is there's little to no variation in her routines and that gets kind of boring. It could be because I watch her so much I'm familiar with her moves, and I've yet to do with with Karina. As you said, there's a whole lot of dances I've yet to watch of Karina, so I can't make an informed opinion. I've seen more of Yulia.

This is a message to Alexus. If you ever get this. I have watched four videos with Karina and Slavik, and well, I guess we have to agree to disagree, because I still favor Yulia. Yes with Ricarrdo (he lifts her easier, with more grace, and doesn't get out of breath), and try as I may, I just can't get into Max. If Ricarrdo is arrogant, they play off each other well (him and Yulia). I'm not giving up though, I'll keep checking out Karina,...for you.

okaaaay :-)...still not part of the converted, but i'll keep working on ya!!! i think the thing about yulia that hasn't quite won me over just yet is that all her faster latin dances (i,e...cha cha, samba) seem to encompass the same dance...there's no degree of variation...with all due respect she's masterful & stunning, but karina (for me) is/was the epitome of ballroom...forgot to ask you earlier, are max and yulia engaged/married...my final ranking: karina, yulia, joanna :)

Max and Yulia do have a personal relationship, the whole Yulia not having variation is really only the fact that yes she has some of the same moves in a lot of her dances, but so does Karina, both of them have always been my favorite female dancers and i have watched both of them so much, as much as i love Karina, Yulia is just in her own league physically she is a more capable and talented dancer, but they both just bring their own thing to the floor.

Without a doubt the best cha cha I've ever seen. You can see that he has a near perfect connection to the floor, his weight is low (which gives him his hip actions) and his actions are swift. Lets hope that he dances this way on Mustang Sally (with Hannah) too :).
