  • there is such an easier way to use the pen tool

  • I'm asking myself if these auto-generated captions are helping anyone not understanding or hearing the audio... ;-) Examples:

27:24 "[...] it will really help you own a little bit money because your images will be abused [...]"

18:53 "just the zoomed ke tusi in Palestinian reading fall" (???)

20:24 "practice, because if you don't in Haiti painful, if you do you can learn to love the painful music"

Nonetheless: Thanks for the great tutorials!

  • DUDE your awesome this is a great way to TEACH- Im totally impressed.

  • Agree this is the best tutorial of pen tool I've ever seen. Extremely clear.

  • I cannot figure out how to get the same pen tool style as used in the pen tool explanation. Mine just fills in the shape completely. I would like to use one like that, which just creates a stroke of a few pixels. Any help?

  • @Claggy When you are using the Pen Tool make sure you're in "Shape Layers" mode (it's in the options at the top - I turned it off when I made the hat on Stunt Pig). Then change the style (also in the options toolbar). Play with the styles till you find one that has a stroke with no fill. I think it looks like a gray square, usually in the lower left of the drop down. To make your clipping path make sure you switch back to "Paths" (Like I did after making the hat on Stunt Pig).

  • @snapfactory Yup, I was on Shape Layers and found that same style you speak of, but it is only a 1px stroke. I am wondering how I can have a style that is the same thing, but with more like a 6px stroke instead (like the style you used above at 13:35 - 20:30 )

  • @Claggy Here's the trick. Do the same as you've been doing, but after you draw a shape click over to your Layers palette, you'll see a new shape layer. In the shape layer you should see "Effects" and under effects you'll see "Stroke". Double click "Stroke" and you can change the width of the stroke. Any new shapes you draw will have the new stroke width. You can also save this as a new style for future use.

  • @snapfactory Perfect, that did the trick. Thank you!

  • 21:53 is where I switched between "Shape Layers" to "Paths".

  • stunt pig ftw!

  • mark, do a tutorial on edge refine and hair extracting pls.

  • Thanks Mark, the best part for me was the shortcuts for the pen tool.

  • That was helpful, thanks a lot!

  • Hi Mark.

  • This is perfect! I was actually asked to add clipping paths to a few of my stock shots. Only down side is I'm still working with PS Elements 9. I may have to bite the bullet and get CS5. Thank you Mark!

  • @jondafurb if you are a student and have a valid school ID you can buy photoshop extended version for $200 vs $1000

  • @c1rcu1tn3rd

I was a student... about 12 years ago lol. I'll probably wind up getting it some day.
