  • By far the best HDR step through tutorial using Photomatix on YouTube. Thanks a lot for posting it, and I think the car pic is great. I like that you kept it more realistic looking although I like both effects depending on the circumstances.

I do agree with a previous poster that you need to label your videos part 1, part 2 etc.

You have a new subscriber...keep these vids coming!

  • i hope u also have tutorials for dave hill effect...thnx for this tutorial!!!

  • It's a good idea to label the vids when you have several parts.

  • Great video, thanks.

Now...how does one do tonemapping in photoshop? I don't have this program you mentioned.

  • change your photo from 32bit to 24 bit, this function will pop up right after the change

  • Thanks! I'll try it out.

  • Thanks for this !

You convinced me of spening the $99 on photomatix.

So it's best to shoot in RAW format ?

  • diolch fawr iawn

  • Great stuff mr Photowalkpro..... thanks for your candid assesment of the key issues to consider when using HDR, wonderfully explained.

  • Enjoyed this tutorial. In response to your wondering why hdr's can be so noisy. It's my understanding that when Photomatix is evaluating images during conversion it can mistakenly consider noise as a "significant" detail in the image and decide to retain it for the hdr file. It's a tradeoff--if Photomatix finds noise in one of the exposures it's likely to think that you want to keep this detail that was only captured in one file so it actually "overvalues" it.
