He was a songwriter and singer before all other things, he just wrote and performed songs-and the songs of the Christian period-were great songs with a lot of heart. It is unfortunate you can't hear the music because you're blind from your own resentment towards whatever Bob was experiencing privately.
@SalParadise26 I enjoy Dylan's music throughout his career. In your criticism of me you have been judgemental/presumptive. I'm aware there are many bright people who believe in God. I admire many, but the born again christian faze that began in America in the 80s has continued is not the kind of religious path I would expect from a man like Dylan, and, in response to SalParadise26, I think intelligence, in terms of the evidence and outlook on life has everything to do with religious convictions.
I think it was a shame when he went born again christian. It surprises me that such an intelligent man can do that. But the 80s were an awful decade in general: greed, bad music, Thatcher, Reagan, etc.
@lamlyn. Your entire statement is judgmental and disgusting. It's a shame that people today can't realize that one's propensity to adopt a religion is not proportional to their intelligence level; and that condemnation of religion is a negation of the very progressive values that people who speak against religion claim to possess.
