1st, Rick's position is a ceremonial position. A Texas governor has few formal powers
2nd, Rick Perry tried to sell our Texas Toll Roads to a European company! Luckily the citizens shot it down before it could get it passed (Why are we driving on Toll Roads if we have 9 billion, hmm)
3rd, According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics we lost 44,700 jobs in August and September alone. 2nd only to NY and MORE losses than California @ 303,000 total.
@xetlive yeah right, if his position is just ceremonial to you and has few formal powers then get off his nuts because everything you just mentioned now is meaningless to your argument.
Good try trying to use one set of numbers without reasoning behind the numbers. Look at Forbes' website, the top cities that are recession proof, TX claims the most and it goes on to praise the TX economy over the rest! But go on, keep lying to yourself.
Not only that, Rick Perry has time and time again said to everyone that is smart enough to listen that if you have a better way of building roads and paying for them with less burden on the taxpayers, then tell him. No one has a better way, including you! You think you know how to do it better, why don't you present solutions rather than bitch about something YOU think is a problem.
And "selling TX with toll roads" as you say, not happening. Period.
1,000+ ppl moving to Texas a day, not only that but 500 Texans born each day as well, so we don't pay much in taxes. We have a $9 Billion dollar surplus. We are the number 1 exporting state for 7 years (that means people WANT our products, more jobs for Texans), more fortune 500 companies are in Texas, 80% of jobs created in '08 were in TX, he has signed two pieces of legislation to relieve property taxes. Oh theres more, if you can handle it
Sure, lets go, I can handle it! :P

Rick Perry has hired two lobbyists to serve as his chief-of-staff.
Under Perry, taxes have gone up by nearly $1.6 billion.
Under Perry, the state debt has doubled.
Under Perry, state spending has increased by almost 50%.
Under Perry, Texas has the highest property taxes in the nation.
Under Perry, Texas has added some 30,000 new bureaucrats to the state payroll.
Perry has introduced and supported scores of new taxes including a massive new tax on businesses.
I rest my case.
