@agallo17 sims 2 have more expansions, and you can get the entire sims 2 games (base game + expansions) for less than the sims 3 base game, I suppose there are more custom content for sims 2.

But that's about it, sims 3 have much better graphics, real lighting and shadow following the movement of the sun compared to sims 2's fake ones. There's no loading screen when you switch environments, and there's bound to be more expansion packs for sims 3, as well as more custom contents.
