the alien was played by the late Simon Okland, a very good character actor. He played Steve Mcqueen"s boss in Bullet and was also played the sailor Steve clocked in the bar in The Sand Pebbles>
Unreal. I remember watching Panic In Year Zero. This was very much a real paranoia that existed . It ebbed for a period of time, but returned in the 80s (Day After, Threads, Testament)
The Outer Limits episodes were hard pressed for a budget. They couldnt afford the special effects, but still needed the monster per week for ratings. The better episodes were less dependent on scary masks that looked like Mardi Gras rejects
But they were all very effective in that time. I saw them all when they came out originally and was impressed and fascinated by all, it was a far more innocent time back then and audiences were more impressed by any special effects, they lacked the cynicism and sophistication of audiences in 2009.
Agreed. It was more based in imagination and the performance of the actors making the emotions of dealing with the unkown so real. Outer Limits were really about moral questions in the face of advancing technology , with a little cold war paranoia thrown in.
Exactly, a perfect representation of the times we lived in then, I remember being taken out of L.A. during the Bay of Pigs because we had no idea what was going to happen so we headed (literally) for the hills to stay in a 2 bedroom cabin and there were 8 of us, LOL!
please. i don't know what this is , but i know it's real.
lol, i'm going to use that.
