it does sound good... that small click just before the boom is the sound of the pin hitting the primer. the boom afterwords is the bullet breaking mach1... if subsonic rounds were available than the only thing you would hear is the bullet making contact. obviously a recording is different than being there in person but it seems like it was most quiet about half way through the mag... warm-up period?
@jayjohnson1207 it's a suppressor, not a silencer. It suppresses the sound, not silence it. I could be wrong, but i think Silencer is a brand of suppressors.
@jayjohnson1207 The noise really depends on the type of ammunition used. A silencer used with supersonic ammunition, while suppressing the noise, will not be able to remove the distinctive 'crack' of supersonic ammo.
The use of subsonic ammo combined with a silencer is much quieter, though not silent by any means, but results in an inferior ballistic trajectory.
I believe a glock 34 has a supersonic muzzle velocity, and supersonic ammo appears to have been used here.
When you hear a gunshot, you hear two things. The explosion that pushes the bullet out of the barrel, and the loud "CRACK" as it breaks the sound barrier.
The only way to get the neutered "ptew" that you hear in call of duty is to use a suppressor AND sub-sonic ammunition.
sounds good dave. what did this turn out to be? patriot?
sounds fine to me, looks like some of the posters here need to understand the physics of how a sound suppressor works before they say this wonderful thing isnt working.
@ALomovica its working to a degree, imagine if you can the full audibility of a stock 9mm. The sound in the video is greatly suppressed. The problem is everyone is looking for the low frequency chirp seen in the James Bond movies! lol
No, it's working exactly as it's supposed to. There may not be much of a difference in the noise level in a quiet area, but outdoors where there's more background noise, it actually makes a large difference. The purpose is to help mask the origin of the shot. It's still loud enough to damage your hearing if you're close enough to it, though.
it'd pretty quiet at the gun. I can hear the supersonic crack echoing downrange making more noise than the gun itself. subsonic 147grain rnds would be really quiet. but i bet you could plink all day with 125/115gr without hearing protection too.
@twatonastick999 -Sensitive for being reminded about self-loathing inadequates? (sub literate Londoner, loves Japanese cars, fails at dating -needs advice!) Must have got here by accident (I mean silencer videos, but also in the broader sense...)

Try 147 or 158 grain "subsonic" if available. "Subsonic" rounds might be restricted for sale to "law enforcement personnel only" even if your state has no (state) law against silencers.
@nickyepyep First of all...it's inbred. Second...we're not all rednecks. Redneck has an actual meaning coming from the migrant workers of Ireland. Due to their white and intolerant skin, they got burned on their neck pretty easy from the collar up. Thus, they had a red neck. Thanks for hanging out for the history lesson. It's a compliment being called a redneck. It means you work for your money and don't count on the state. Have a good day.............mate.

shut the hell up about the bullets he used and t;he stance he is using if you have a problem with it make your own video where your putting the pistol in your mouth
Eh. It sort of defeats the purpose of a suppressor if the damn thing can still be heard for miles....I don't know. It doesn't sound like the movies. Although I worked with some special force types that explained to me that the suppressors they used sounded like someone clicking their fingers. I heard stories of how they would do raids and kill a guy in one room and the other guys in the other room next door didn't know anything about it after they got busted. Crazy stuff.
yes, its not actually the gun... all bullets make that noise. If you've ever heard a sniper rifle fire at you from long range. You can hear the noise much louder, and then you begin to hear the noise of a bell coming straight towards you lol.
@randallcaster Sonic is over 1100 feet per second. While bigger rounds like .45 typically are slower (which you want to hit hard) 9mm are typically fast and will penetrate through because of their speed. I could give you several loads for 9mm that puts it over sonic. I could also load .45 a little hot and get it over sonic.
@randallcaster not all pistol rounds are subsonic, and generally since the 80's is deemed standard velocity to be above or on par with "SOS velocity" (speed of sound, which is variable dependant on air temparature), if not supersonic. stop trying to sound like a know it all, you only make yourself look like a COD "armchair" warrior.
eh no offense but that doesnt sound much quieter than my bersa 9mm compact, might just be the camera picking up the echo/sonic boom a bit more than what you actually hear in person.
@702decatur Do you hear the sound of the slide drop before he begins shooting? Notice the angle..Then listen..Your hearing the impact of the bullet down a hill. This video was made over 2 years ago. Audio wasn't exactly up to par then. That is Dave Saylors..Very likely the most talented silencer designer that has ever lived..The humming of the camera running is louder than the can..Oh wait you have no silencer videos up. Haven't done it yourself yet..Why do I waste my time with internet morons..
@702decatur Some guns can't function properly when using subsonics (I doubt a pistol would have this problem) but many rifles with heavy bolts do... so something quite that brunt wouldn't really be the greatest thing to say
@AngeredKabar Well retard you can obviously hear the echo but I guess that doesn't count as sound. Maybe you should learn how sound is produced before you open your hole again.
@USA3333 it can be. alot of guns that come from the factory with threaded barrel have elevated sights. you can also buy aftermarket elevated sights to see over the sup.
It's too bad our army doesn't use 19th century firearms anymore. They wouldn't jam as much as our crappy M16 or M60. I'd rather have a 1873 Winchester Repeating Rifle or Model 1887 Shotgun. At least my guns won't jam every 5 seconds or won't jam when there's a little dust in the air.
How do you know those didn't jam in their day too? Black powder is pretty messy & sooty you know. Everyone always seems to think that older technology is better. U.S. train travel in the 1800's had many more derailments than today, but people will watch a western movie and think it was better.
I don't know if "AKs jam", but I have to assume that even those commie wonders do at times. If you build a firearm with tolerances that are so sloppy that you can barely hit the broadside of a barn from the inside, then yes, you will have fewer jamming problems.
Ok AK47's may be reliable, but have you ever tried shooting one? They are incredibly inaccurate, and even if they were accurate, the recoil is so terrible that you can't hold on your target for multiple shot bursts. As far as black powder- if hardly any moisture found its way into the powder, the weapon would not fire. Would you want to spend 60 seconds loading one shot just to have your enemy hear an echoing "CLICK"?
i notice when it comes to gun videos on the internet, everyone who has played mw2 thinks they are an expert, makes people like me look like chumps, we do our homework and know what we are talking about! im not trying to be preachy, but if he didnt hurt himself, he did fine, no use yellin at him. not the stance i would have done but what evs
@JUMBOpin actually, it is a correct stance. it is called the "original isosceles" stance. not everyone blades into a weaver. In fact weaver is incompatible with men with big chests and broad shoulders like myself. i am a large guy and i also shoot with this stance. i've also one 2 local charity matches. in fact many accomplished (i am certainly not accomplished) long range pistol shooters like Todd Jerrett use that stance. so talk about what you know, or you just make yourself look ignorant
@AlienZygote010 I think his is a bad adaptation of the original isosceles. Reality is that recoil has to go through you - and his weight appears to be on his heals and he looks like he is leaning backwards. If you were to walk up and push him he looks as though he would easily be knocked off balance which is a bad stance.
i agree that his weight displacement is incorrect. but i think that is because he is not used to firing with a suppressor, and he is more worried about the function of his weapon than his stance. it seems like everyone is jumping on me because i showed up a video game trash talker. i am sick of those "expert" kids
@Kinkajou01 more than you. i compete under the name of my company in PPC shooting. I have won two. there are many different stances. i invented my own that works best for me, similar to this one. I call it the modified isosceles. if you are on here talking shit, i will let you know that i have logged in tens of thousands of rounds. i shoot about 3k per year, more than you will ever shoot in your whole shit talking know it all lifetime.
A true professional wouldn't respond to comments on YouTube defending himself. If you're a professional and content with your competitive results, then learn how to ignore people with opinions which don't match reality.
Instead, I see no reason to believe a word you said based on your actions.
i've ignored plenty of comments. i am just sick and damned tired of these fucking teenage know it all shit talkers. you have morons who have never held a weapon other than in a video game and they get on these videos and criticize veterans. it's absurd. sometimes they get the better of me
@Kinkajou01 in other words, go talk your shit to someone with that doesn't have my level of training or experience. you aren't even old enough to buy a pistol.
Hehe. The point of suppressors are to make the gunshot noise sound like something else, instead of actually "silencing" the weapon. Video games tend to "Hollywood it up" when they choose audio tracks for their gunshot sounds, so really, you can't base much of what you know on video games. (Same thing happens to a lot of things. :P)
So a suppressor isn't ment to silence the sound but to make it sound like something else? still sounds lika a gun firing to me. But how about subsonic bullets and stuff like that couldn't that lower the sound a great deal together with a suppressor? I'm honestly confused.
Yep. Suppressors (at least in WWII) were meant to make the gun sound like something else, and it just so happened to make the sound quieter, thus the term "silencer" appeared. Subsonic ammunition DOES make the sound lower (e.g. since .45ACP's are already subsonic as they are, 9mm's are tend to be harder to suppress than .45's, as this video might prove). You have every right to be confused. Suppressors are a confusing thing to understand as a beginner. (I was lost in my first days, too.) =]
is that a ported barrel with a suppressor?

i lived in ga for awhile, cops were always tracking us into the woods to make sure we knew that we were supposed to be 500 ft from the road.
different states, different rules.
you definitely don't want to be doing the wrong thing during hunting season.
problems will come at you from all different directions.

Retard should use subsonic when doing a supression demo.
702decatur 2 years ago 35
@702decatur Do you hear the sound of the slide drop before he begins shooting? Notice the angle..Then listen..Your hearing the impact of the bullet down a hill. This video was made over 2 years ago. Audio wasn't exactly up to par then. That is Dave Saylors..Very likely the most talented silencer designer that has ever lived..The humming of the camera running is louder than the can..Oh wait you have no silencer videos up. Haven't done it yourself yet..Why do I waste my time with internet morons..
MrChondro 1 year ago 2
@702decatur Some guns can't function properly when using subsonics (I doubt a pistol would have this problem) but many rifles with heavy bolts do... so something quite that brunt wouldn't really be the greatest thing to say

@702decatur Sounds pretty quiet to me... Perhaps retards should learn a bit more about silencers before they call other people retards.
AngeredKabar 1 year ago
@AngeredKabar Well retard you can obviously hear the echo but I guess that doesn't count as sound. Maybe you should learn how sound is produced before you open your hole again.

is it hard to aim with a suppressor? it seems the iron sights are blocked
USA3333 2 years ago
@USA3333 it can be. alot of guns that come from the factory with threaded barrel have elevated sights. you can also buy aftermarket elevated sights to see over the sup.
WZW1982 2 years ago
Fail.. where is the sub sonics?

Dale Earnhardt can shoot pretty good too!
PUREAAMERICAN 2 years ago
It's too bad our army doesn't use 19th century firearms anymore. They wouldn't jam as much as our crappy M16 or M60. I'd rather have a 1873 Winchester Repeating Rifle or Model 1887 Shotgun. At least my guns won't jam every 5 seconds or won't jam when there's a little dust in the air.
Supergungun 2 years ago
Maintain your rifle and it won't jam.

@Lekotheshaman yeah but not everyone does

@Lekotheshaman
you got that right.
there shouldn't even be any more conversation about that point.
but there was...
tapper45 1 year ago
How do you know those didn't jam in their day too? Black powder is pretty messy & sooty you know. Everyone always seems to think that older technology is better. U.S. train travel in the 1800's had many more derailments than today, but people will watch a western movie and think it was better.
museack 2 years ago
@museack Do AKs jam? Although it isn't a 19th century weapon, its still the epitome of the the point I'm trying to make.
Supergungun 2 years ago
I don't know if "AKs jam", but I have to assume that even those commie wonders do at times. If you build a firearm with tolerances that are so sloppy that you can barely hit the broadside of a barn from the inside, then yes, you will have fewer jamming problems.
museack 2 years ago
@museack Those high tech guns jam more than they work.
Supergungun 2 years ago
Ok AK47's may be reliable, but have you ever tried shooting one? They are incredibly inaccurate, and even if they were accurate, the recoil is so terrible that you can't hold on your target for multiple shot bursts. As far as black powder- if hardly any moisture found its way into the powder, the weapon would not fire. Would you want to spend 60 seconds loading one shot just to have your enemy hear an echoing "CLICK"?
bravo1sgt 1 year ago
@bravo1sgt You could hit them over the head and give them the old One Two.

i notice when it comes to gun videos on the internet, everyone who has played mw2 thinks they are an expert, makes people like me look like chumps, we do our homework and know what we are talking about! im not trying to be preachy, but if he didnt hurt himself, he did fine, no use yellin at him. not the stance i would have done but what evs

sweet correct stance...not
JUMBOpin 2 years ago
@JUMBOpin actually, it is a correct stance. it is called the "original isosceles" stance. not everyone blades into a weaver. In fact weaver is incompatible with men with big chests and broad shoulders like myself. i am a large guy and i also shoot with this stance. i've also one 2 local charity matches. in fact many accomplished (i am certainly not accomplished) long range pistol shooters like Todd Jerrett use that stance. so talk about what you know, or you just make yourself look ignorant
AlienZygote010 2 years ago
@AlienZygote010 I think his is a bad adaptation of the original isosceles. Reality is that recoil has to go through you - and his weight appears to be on his heals and he looks like he is leaning backwards. If you were to walk up and push him he looks as though he would easily be knocked off balance which is a bad stance.
Cavediver762 2 years ago
i agree that his weight displacement is incorrect. but i think that is because he is not used to firing with a suppressor, and he is more worried about the function of his weapon than his stance. it seems like everyone is jumping on me because i showed up a video game trash talker. i am sick of those "expert" kids
AlienZygote010 2 years ago 2
How many charity matches have you one? How can this stance be "correct"? After every shot you can see him sway backward.
Kinkajou01 2 years ago 2
@Kinkajou01 more than you. i compete under the name of my company in PPC shooting. I have won two. there are many different stances. i invented my own that works best for me, similar to this one. I call it the modified isosceles. if you are on here talking shit, i will let you know that i have logged in tens of thousands of rounds. i shoot about 3k per year, more than you will ever shoot in your whole shit talking know it all lifetime.
AlienZygote010 2 years ago
A true professional wouldn't respond to comments on YouTube defending himself. If you're a professional and content with your competitive results, then learn how to ignore people with opinions which don't match reality.
Instead, I see no reason to believe a word you said based on your actions.
antiaverage1 2 years ago
i've ignored plenty of comments. i am just sick and damned tired of these fucking teenage know it all shit talkers. you have morons who have never held a weapon other than in a video game and they get on these videos and criticize veterans. it's absurd. sometimes they get the better of me
AlienZygote010 2 years ago 2
@Kinkajou01 in other words, go talk your shit to someone with that doesn't have my level of training or experience. you aren't even old enough to buy a pistol.
AlienZygote010 2 years ago
i'm guessing hes using supersonic ammo which is quite stupid actually. if your gonna use a supressor you might as well use subsonic rounds
mr454casu1l 2 years ago
so many guys that are into guns have them mustaches funny as hell !!
parosite 2 years ago 3
Doesn't sound silent at all but I haven't fired a real gun in my life and can only refer to videogames where the sound is almost non existant XD
FlashySenap 2 years ago
Blemo23 2 years ago
So a suppressor isn't ment to silence the sound but to make it sound like something else? still sounds lika a gun firing to me. But how about subsonic bullets and stuff like that couldn't that lower the sound a great deal together with a suppressor? I'm honestly confused.
FlashySenap 2 years ago
(I was lost in my first days, too.) =]
Blemo23 2 years ago
So why does every game, almost every movie present a suppressor as attachment that will silence the gunshot?
FlashySenap 2 years ago
Good question... I'm glad someone's actually interested in my answers. :P The thing with games is that everything in their world is perfect
