hi im just new to robotics and i have a question how do you connect both servos onto one toggle stick on the remote and also can you do the same with more than 2 servos
@theaustralianis the nose cone I used had a clamping washer type design, the shaft of the motor had no threads...just the beam. the cone assembly should contain 3 pieces
I just had the best idea ever. someone should use this as a prank, like put it in a cupboard and when someone goes to pick it up you could shread there hand to peices with it.
Wow, that's amazing. and all in less than 30 mins. I'm impressed. :) Keep it up, good sir! I hope you can build some other types of battle bots. It's hard to find a good robot tutorial even on google, but you... you've made my day. :D
You would have to enter a lighter weight class. I tend to build 150g UK ants for many years and the most I have spent is $60 (roughly £30). If you keep your design simple and try to keep a tight budget then I don't see why not.
@uppercutter450 hi where did you get stuff in UK ? i live in uk but i couldnt find any electronic store if you know any internet shops please tell me the name of it
@kuba651 I live in Plymouth and mostly use parts from three places, all internet shops:
1. Sussex model center (batteries, servos, radio gear ect.)
2. Technobots (speed controllers)
3. Precision microdrives (motors)
However, the best advice for any new builder is to join a forum (the robot wars 101 forum for ants) there is the best advice from builders even more experienced then me, or even more cost cutting measures such as borrowing transmitters during events, which can save you £50-100.
may i suggest better teeth, get 1-2mm steel sheet and bend it at about 70degrees, cut a tooth shape at the horizontal part with ur dremel and bolt the almost-vertical part to your shell. it is 'almost' bent 90degrees coz ur shell is on an angle.
How much does making this all cost? you might of said it in one of the videos but i just scimmed through them cause i dont wanna start without knowing how much ill have to spend
I had most of these components just laying around the house, so it only cost me the price of the pan. But if you were to buy all this new, it can easily cost up into the thousands for the higher quality setup. This robot should only cost about $300-$400 without the radio possibly less if you do some hunting and find some good deals.
The bed is actually an old air hockey table that does not work. Yeah thinking about it, there is a competition coming up next summer in SF CA. Not sure of the weight class, I've modified it a few times since this vid and the weight has nearly doubled.
Transmitters, if you are going to use metal, I recommend 2.4Ghz, like the Spektrum. They have far less problems with interference and better reception even in metal casings.
It depends on how much of the robot you would want. The electronics are not cheap, just the blue motor and speed controller that power the weapon would cost more than $100. The radio system I need for my other Planes and Bots. Tell me how much of it you would want and I'll give you a price.
Are you serious? The brushless (blue) motor and speed controller cost over 100 dollars the servos are probably 20 dollars a piece and the radio system probably costs 150+ dollars...
I'm not really sure, right now I am in the process of building another robot. If you would like I can post a vid of it throwing around some cans and bottles.
Could you please post a video of it tearing up styrofoam cups and plastic bottles (glass bottles would be cool, too).
If you want to test it against another robot's armor try using small pieces of polycarbonate, wood, and thin aluminum (or any metal laying around the house that is thin).
cool design you should try and make another type

@rctennisbum to make that robot look awsome you should extend the side spinning spikes/ paint it/ and polish it
travey10 1 year ago
you should instal a light on the botom so that you can tell where the front is.

Thats a great idea, I think I will.

You don't even need a light, just a piece of something sticking out from under the top.

How does it balance on two wheels on its own or is it just a third wheel under

You going to enter it into any events? I looks like it might be competitive. What weight class is this???
