  • Guys, this car is pretty old. Give it a chance.

  • crrrrrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuunch

  • did they have a crash dummy with out a seat belt and did it went out the window

  • we should all drive bumper cars!!!!!!!

  • One way to maximize safety for all drivers on the road is to set some standards for weight and height of vehicles on the road. Why does anybody need a 6000 lbs. truck to go to the supermarket. Some might say we have to right to in America. Yeah, but if your neighbor wanted drive around in an armed tank and keep a dozen tigers as pets on a street full children, should he be allowed to? Set weight and height vehicle standards and you'll still be able to drive what you want. Within reason of course

  • @1986celica The issue here would be the huge number of new and old vehicles already on the road that weigh 5000 lb+. No one wants their 2 year old Suburban condemned by the government, so no one would go for it.

  • @kovu159 cars that were manufactured before the law would be grandfathered in. they would still be legal, but you may need a special license to drive a vehicle over 5000 lbs, just like a truck driver. i personally don't feel safe knowing there are 16 year olds texting while driving their dad's international cxt.

  • You are just as safe in a Honda as you are in ANY car! These safety tests are completely standard and anyone that thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. If you want better safety, you need to drive a bigger car or truck that's not a secret.

  • range rover only has 3 safety stars. that means it's not so good as a honda...

  • If you ever get into an accident I only pray that you are lucky enough to live. 3 stars, 5 stars or 10 stars, it means NOTHING in the real world. These are just ratings because people like to compete and say their product is better than your product. If a car was unsafe it could NOT be sold.

  • Well, I think you would fair MUCH better in this Honda than you would in some Russian car I saw. The thing crumpled up until the trunk! There was NOTHING left to the interior.

  • Where's the video of the Russian car? Do they even sell it here in North America? We have minimum standards that all cars must meet. I agree you would fair in this Honda Accord than in the Honda Fit/Jazz. Bigger is better.

  • It's called " The Worst Car Ever Fails Its Crash Test Miserably", but if you type in "worst crash test" in the search box, the video at the top is the one. The screensot is of a yellow chunk of metal with a wheel worked into the mess.

  • LOL, but a real person inside would actually re-inforce the structure (with their bones!).

Ok, that car is just designed for the wife!

Seriously though, you can't compare that joke to any real car. I wonder if they actually built any for sale? scarey!

  • I think I've become dumber by reading this exchange.

  • that is not a crash test - that vehicle was going at about 3 times crash test speed. none of today's vehicles would survive that kind of impact.

  • yes it is its only at 35mph!!!! I imagine most cars would be 5 star at a 10mph crash

  • bigger vehicles are not necessarily safer: the 2008 hummer h3 gets a lower rating than the 2008 honda civic in the iihs front offset crash test.

  • Ok, let's play a little road chicken!

I'll drive the Hummer and smash you in your Civic and then we'll see who's the stronger!

Again, these crash tests are biased and rigged. There is NO way a small car can out perform a larger truck sized vehicle. It's basic physics.

  • Nope, sorry. IIHS and EuroNCAP tests are not rigged. They are the same for all vehicles. And a heavier vehicle will do worse than a lighter, smaller one as it has the higher mass, thus it has more momentum. Basic physics. And look at the crash test of a 2003 Dodge Ram crashing into a 2003 Honda Accord. The Accord does pretty good.

  • You are right, it will have more momentum, which is a GOOD thing. Because the vehicle will have more momentum, it will not de-accellerate as fast as a small car. This means YOU don't get bashed around as hard.

I saw statistics which show twice the number of deaths of people driving smaller cars than large american cars or trucks/suv's.

You are right that it's basic physics, too bad you aren't applying it correctly.

  • But many new small vehicles are getting high crash test scores and big vehicles are not good as they make it worse for smaller vehicles when they collide with them. Imagine a Smart colliding with a Cadillac Escalade. What will be to the poor Smart? Big vehicles make the roads more dangerous for small ones. And more momentum means that the vehicle will take longer to stop. I agree that having a longer crumple zone helps, but big vehicles are not necessarily safer.

  • Yes, they do make it more dangerous for small cars, that is why I would never buy a Smart Car or a Honda Civic. Regardless of the crash tests, they are unsafe in the REAL world where big trucks and big cars drive.

You are right that it will take the vehicle longer to stop, I really don't care so long as I am alive. I don't care about the extra gas either, my family is worth it.

  • You know what? Whatever. There really is no point in arguing with you.

  • do you know why russian cars suck in crash tests? because they are really cars based on 45 year old fiat platforms. in those days, barely anybody thought about vehicle safety. i saw a crash test of a new, redesigned lada, if the euroncap rating system was used, it would have gotten 3 stars.

  • 10 stars? WTF

  • bravo

  • hey PPL what are these circles, yellow and black at the head of the dummie and all over???Allways wanted to know!!

  • the yellow and black circles are used as reference points in slow-motion replays of crashes.

  • what is the speed of this car when it crashed?¿? tell me please

  • 35 mph...

  • no 40...

  • I own a Honda Accord 96 and got into a crash last week. I was going 50mph, the car crash as bad as in the vid (a little lesser I guess, the crashdeep not pass the front wheel) but it was total lost. The airbag worked good. Honda is fine!

  • sorry about the crash :(

  • you are retarded

  • I agree he is

  • Lol

  • alright smart one,LOL go buy that chinese brilliance thing, if you live to see another day after getting into a crash with that car.. ill pay you 100 bucks. crash tests are real, i mean, why spend sooo much money on something fake.?

  • yeah, that shit sucks. it is important to buy a vehicle with extensive safety features and good crash test scores.

  • you've got to be joking! lol! no seriously???? you joking right?

  • lol.honda are good cars. i wonder if does the engine still start up?

  • how high is the speed of the car , when it splash into the wall ?

  • It "splashed" into the wall? Lol. Cars are usually tested at 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour)

  • it looked like 5 miles per hour. that guy was just coming out of a parking lot.

  • you retard, it's slow mo...

  • you deserve to crash

  • Man, you gotta hand it to Honda. Extremely good performance. The airbag deployed a bit early though.

  • DEATH to Honda

  • That area is supposed to deform in a crash.

  • too bad it's crap this car(built for americans). the european version is way better and i know cuz i drove em both

  • i agree

  • because is factory built by americans...

  • Yeah, that's because the European Accord is the American Acura TSX, a bit unfair in comparison don't you think?

  • It's unfair because the TSX drives much better than any Accord. I know a lot of people say that the TSX is a glorified Accord but it's not. It is true that the engine DNA is very much like the US Accord, the TSX's engine has higher compression ratio (vs. 4cyl. Accord) and the suspension is stiffer; suspension alone will make the car feel much different.

  • the acura TSX is only called that in america, everywhere else they call it the accord. the US accord has a bouncy suspension, much softer power steering and overall has a much more cheap feel to it(typical for american cars)

  • yeah but even so the structure that was left after the crash wasn't even split. which was pretty impressive but what do you expect it's honda japanese.

  • 35 mph is in-town driving, you tool.

  • 35 mph is hardly realistic. 70-80mph would be - either motorway speed to standstill or combined velocity of two cars on a B-road...still safer than most though.

  • Its actually 40mph. Its designed for highway crashes. Because when you are doing 70-80mph, and a second later before hitting someone, assuming you know how to use the brakes you are doing 35-40mph. Thats for good cars.

  • what speed was that at?

  • excellent crash performance.

  • shit i needed that car

  • They make plenty Accords.

  • Thats amazing. No structural damage at all
