Krewe Du Vieux is the smartest, earliest and most satiric of all the parades during Mardi Gras. The Krewe names are plays on names: Spermes(Hermes), Hermaphrodite(Aphrodite) and of course the Krewe Du Jieux. It's a walking parade; the only one that runs a French Quarter route. Mules pull the floats because tractors are too much for the narrow streets of the Vieux Carre.
