No, this isn't even close to Kemp's best "ownage" dunk. I can name two or three other dunks by Kemp that top this one, including the "Lister Blister", which is one the sickest dunks ever executed on a basketball court.
it's still so emotional watching that high energy dunks of shawn... will there ever be another reignman to electrify the croud as he did??? i wished so....
No doubt-Lister Blister was one of his best dunks-that joint was so good it was on the cut screens for the old NBA Jam video game-along with the one when he penetrated through the lane and did a backwards jam on the entire Knicks team.
I wish the NBA would get rid of that touting foul non sense. This actually made the game fun for viewers like it was in the 90's. If a grown man gets dunked on and cant take the touting kick him out the NBA. Just like when Mutombo wagged his finger to the player he just blocked... Classic NBA stuff!
This video is not the greatest quality, but i was watching that game back then and i had to rewind it so many times..anotoine carr was trying to stand in his way..kemp was by far the dunker who would make you put your head down after a play
Kemp was the greatest power dunker ever. Has anyone ever seen the dunk that Kemp and Payton tried agaist the Sacramento King's where Payton alley ooped it off the window in traffic and Kemp took off on both feet from just inside the foul line? He missed and Karl benched them both, it was almost the best dunk of all time. Still looking for it.
It may have been against the Lakers actually in '95. I found a reference to an article in the LA Times which mentioned a missed dunk by Kemp from an alley oop off the glass from Payton. Maybe that was what I saw.
I think it was a regular season game. The article said it ended in a 1 point loss for the Sonics and it was at the Forum. When I looked for a game that matched the only one I could find was December 29, 1994 not 95 but it was in the 94-95 season. I heard Karl benched them for the play but I couldn't find any reference to a benching. Maybe I'll check the archives of the Seattle papers.
man, just go look at vince carter 100 dunks on youtube and you will see. stiff, i bet if i gave you a 7ft rim you probably could do most of shawn kemps dunks but maybe only 1 of vince carters because the degree of difficulty of carters dunks are much harder than kemps.
Kemp's dunks are harder than Carter because the Motion, Plasticity, hang-time and POWER than Kemp has, Carter cannot even dream in his sleep.
Carter goes up high doing great stuff but goes up and comes down like a heavy body, he hits the floor heavily like a rock while Kemp was landing with grace stepping like a cat.
first of all do you see how vince can get up, second vince jumped over a guy that was 7ft plus. no one has done that and no one will. players like shaq and kobe have said that vince is the best dunker of all time so that means alot because they have seen alot of dunks in games. to me theres no comparison, i mean compare thier dunk contest, vince dunks were great.shawn kemps were ok
NEVER compare dunk contests in order to judge 2 dunkers. Compare in-traffic slams. And in-traffic slams Kemp was Superior to Carter.
Regarding somebody jumping over somebody else and dunk, Carter was not the first one. Shaq has done it when he was in NCAA, seek the video, it is even on youtube.
The way Kemp floated in the air, Carter is not even close. Carter will never do a dunk like the "Lister Blister" in his life. Ever.
LeBron is DA GOAT. I like him far more than Carter or Bryant. LeBron belongs to the off-one-foot dunkers, ie he dunks more off one foot than off two.
He is pretty stiff in the air like Vince, and not flexible like Wade, Kemp or Bryant etc, but he is so quick and strong like a super-sonic craft, he is like superhuman, he belongs to the next generation of dunkers.
We would like to see him in a dunk contest but he didn't want to participate unfortunately...
How can you say Lebron is the GOAT when that areal artistry and flexibility is what makes dunking great! He's not the next generation, go watch some Dominique Wilkins...he was stiff as well....all it boils down to is...Kemps style and the in your face taunts and the end are better than Lebrons soaring (kemp soars too) power jamming any day of week....as far as skill other than dunking Lebron may be better.
I'm pretty sure judges don't score on power alone although it helps....being high in the air doesn't make you goat dunker....I like kemp...I used to like him even when my lakers when up against him...jordan is up there to but not no.1 dunking...

Carter is just a hair off Kemp's balls.

so whoever is not flexible cannot be a goat dunker???
Nique was stiff too, also 2-feet, his style sometimes reminded of Kemp as well.
There have been many great dunkers, from today I like J-Rich a lot. He is sooo flexible.
But I think the greatest of all has been Kemp. He had something in his movement that nobody else has had and I don't think will have.
Who do you think is the all-time greatest?
