That doesn't make sense..the headphone jack isn't anywhere near the ribbon cable connected to the screen, so it couldn't help or hurt it. All that happened was your Ipod dried out. -_-
Dude this guy is legit. Since I'm a guy, I didn't gave nail polish, I just shoved an alcohol wipe up the headphone jack and squeezed it in there with an auxiliary cord. After about a minute, I plugged it in to iTunes and it came up w/ dead battery sign. I let it charge,restored, and it works fine now!
the water damage sensor is located inside the headphone jack on the i pod touch (red = damage) or i phone so i would recommend making sure that it is red before you jam a wet cue tip down the jack because that would turn the water sensor red whether that was the initial problem or not and when u bring an i pod in to get it fixed or exchanged thats the first thing they check and most cheap warranties/ free ones with the ipod DO NOT COVER H2O DAMAGE !

@ab4fire I had the same problem, try charging it for a while. It's almost like the rice somehow drained the battery. I thought for sure it was dead because the battery was still at about half when I stuck it in the rice but after a 5 minute charge it turned back on again.

There is a methodological flaw there: if the guy waited several hours after putting the acetone, how does one know that just letting time passing is not the reason the Iphone worked again? One may argue that it dries within these hours and this has then nothing to do with acetone.
I'm not saying it does not work, I'm saying there is a covariation of factors making that we can not know if it really works.....

@YURMOM911 yes just put the ipod into dfu mode or hold and press the power and home button until the connect to itunes logo pops up and connect it to itunes simple and you will not have any music or movies anything on ur ipod so be prepared
or you could try putting it in a bag of rice overnight and could fix it that way. Worked for my sisters touch when did the same thing. No problems since then. xD

It is a litmus strip of paper in there that when there is water damage it turns red and your ipod senses that and wont let it start... by covering it up it allows you to start it.... Apple did this on purpose to pay them money...
@messihenry1410 a few ways to do this probally most effective is just taking a cutip with black nail polish and shoving up the audio jack and letting it dry.

AnythingIpodTouch i need ur help REALLY bad. So i dropped my ipod in some water and (being an idiot) i turned it on. The picture was not very clear, but there. Blew some water out and turned it on again. NOW no response. Blow dried it, RESULT extremely dark picture. Now its in a bag with silica gel (which acts like the rice does in that other trick. After leaving it in for about 48 hours i turn it back on to see that the screen is still dark and the touch sensor is working poorly. Can u help???

It is a litmus strip of paper in there that when there is water damage it turns red and your ipod senses that and wont let it start... by covering it up it allows you to start it.... Apple did this on purpose to pay them money...

@messihenry1410 a few ways to do this probally most effective is just taking a cutip with black nail polish and shoving up the audio jack and letting it dry.

It worked, no doubt, just soak the jack 3-4 times and wait for 3-5 mins. Dont be afraid jsut wait

@messihenry1410 no with acetone, but idk my sister on next morning said that it stoped working again and she put her ipod touch in bag of rice. and i cant really recall it but i think its worked, but you have to let it be in the bag for 3 to days and and check and see if the bag gets sweaty i have not seen how that method works.good luck

AnythingIpodTouch i need ur help REALLY bad. So i dropped my ipod in some water and (being an idiot) i turned it on. The picture was not very clear, but there. Blew some water out and turned it on again. NOW no response. Blow dried it, RESULT extremely dark picture. Now its in a bag with silica gel (which acts like the rice does in that other trick. After leaving it in for about 48 hours i turn it back on to see that the screen is still dark and the touch sensor is working poorly. Can u help???
