  • Its not from being kicked. It broke much lower than his foot position when he was swinging... It was probably overstressed prior to that jump.

  • i think he kicked it

  • he probably needed a bigger pole even if he kicked it

  • damaged. it wouldnt have broken in two peices if it was overstressed. and it wouldnt have broken so high

  • it was stressed, in order to swing he sat on it and sank bending it more than it should have

  • 2 pieces is good but sometimes means spiked 3 pieces mean u sat and 4 means u blew the sail piece out

  • this hurts soo much. only those who have done this know how much this hurts, all that force being ripped out of your left hand. its like in that movie black hawk down, when that one dude has his gun shot out of his hand and hes missing some fingers. not the same results lol but you can still break your hand

  • yea it looks like a combo of the 3

  • I think this break is a combination of damage and sitting on the pole. He sat on it no doubt but the pole shouldve broken in 3 if that was the only reason.

  • It doesnt matter if you break a stupid pole :\ Just matters if your safe and not hurt.

  • @LyricalMusicxx poles are expensive

  • Ouch! Makes my hands hurt just thinking about it.

  • right at the sailpiece, normal break.

  • I like the old dude in the back. he doesn't even flinch. nice.

  • smakd him in the head

  • looks like it hit him multiple times and it looks overstressed but i could be wrong it just looks like it bends way too much

  • um...he sat on it...end of story

  • dude same thing happened to me cept i was attempting 12 haha....raped my left elbow and welt down my back!

  • I HAVE DONE THAT BEFORE!!!! hahahahahah

  • funny as

  • he definitely kicked it you can see, plus it would of broke more towards the middle if it was from stress.

  • No he didn't,, his toe is over the pole when he break it.. its a normal pole break

  • the right toe is over the pole but it looks like the left one kicks it, I could be wrong but watch again.

  • no kick, i dont believe, it appears the left goes past the pole as well (0:17). id say it was overstressed.

  • i mixed up my left and right.. i meant right foot because he is on the left side of the poll

  • Typically, even with a slightly damaged pole, it will not break with a good vault. Im not saying hes a bad vaulter (dont even know who it is) but he didnt have a great jumpup, tucked, and went right to his back. You can also see him pulling down on the pole as he swings up, instead of continually pushing up with extended arms.

Ive vaulted for about 9 years now and have never broken a pole. People who break poles often (you know who you are) have bad technique and lose height, along with cash.

  • still, you can break a pole just if it's slightly damaged and you have bad luck.

And if you have lots of bad luck, you can break lots of poles! :D

  • he crushed the pole

  • No way is that kyle Gann

  • is that mike's voice in the background?? haha

  • mike from vertical assault? lol sounds like him

  • YEA!! hahaha who is this?? maybe i'll see you up there! haha

  • im adam but i'm not part of the club. i did VA over the summer and i've been to a few clinics w/ mike so his voice stands out lol

  • haha its definately mike....joe, you go to vertical assault?

  • betcha he saw parts of his body he doesnt want to see again lol

  • Thats so true i know his life flashed b4 his eyes

  • Who was that? Kyle Gann?

  • ya it was him i don't think he kicked it though. You can see his toe slightly pass the pole and it didn't break at the point that he would have touched it, it broke above it. Just a guess though i could very well be wrong about it.

  • no i agree it definately wasn't because he kicked it.. plus... that would had to be a really strong swing in order to kick it hard enough to break it..

  • you can see his toe is past it but i dont really think it takes a lot to break a bent pole with spikes, i was vaulting last saturday and barely came down on the BAR and that thing snapped so fast

  • bars and poles are very different. you can't break a pole by kicking it mid-vault. i've done it alot. but if the pole had already been spiked then there's a good chance that it could snap. also happened to me. lol.

  • looks like he kicked it

  • i think so too

  • @4metergirl no i dont think so, his foot went past the pole if you pause it
