It definitely sounds much more aggressive with the Bastuck on, a very nice tone to it. If you were only looking to change the sound of the car, the Bastuck is a pretty good first step. Congrats on getting the exhaust!

@shake4300 The front lip is from the BMW Aero Kit, the side skirts are from the BMW M-Tech kit, and the rear is a custom diffusor from Bastuck to fit the quad-exhaust that I had molded to the rear bumper so now it is all one piece.

Oh, my bad. Well, to be honest the M3 wasn't even at dealerships when the 2007 model year 335i's were.

I bought the first 335i to come on to the lot. Sure, I've probably spent well more than enough to have bought an M3, but personally I prefer the low-end torque of the twin-turbo I6 as opposed to the somewhat anemic torque delivery on the N/A V8 in the M3.

To each his own.

and the more important question - did you have to replace any other parts, ie. clutch or transmission etc for the car to handle the upgraded bhp and torque.

I am looking at 07 2nd hand 335i for my next car... and interested in remapping the ecu for extra performance.

Have you upgraded the air-intake (is that even needed in this car?).

Hey strath,

I'm guessing the car is around 360bhp, but my guess is meaningless until I can get it on a dyno. I haven't changed any of the internals of the engine, I think the stock engine is capable of handling quite a bit more power though.

As far as the intake goes, I just changed the stock filter for a K&N filter because I've read that many of the aftermarket intakes don't make much of a difference, and in some cases even cause a loss of power.

The M3 is supposed to be better in every imaginable performance category vs its mainstream BMW 3 Series brothers although its not limited to just speed. The M3 was designed to deliver an extreme yet civil, overly focused, tactile driving experience while providing all around different drivetrain characteristics which of course bests the 335's. That said, there is no surprise in the M3's domination.

I think a stock 335i would spank a 370Z. The Z is a fine car, but the 335i is better in almost every respect. Better interior, better engine, better looks, and with a little suspension upgrade you'll walk any Z.

This Saturn Sky had 260 hp and he was manual and I am automatic....

Thanks for the compliment. In my opinion the disparity in horsepower between the two is a negligible difference. I've owned a VQ engine and it's not that great of an engine in my opinion. I would have to say that the 330hp mark is probably the best the VQ can do from the factory. The N54 in the 335i, however, is capable of doing well over 400hp without replacing any stock internals. Also, there is the case of FI vs. NA, and for that reason alone I give the advantage to the BMW in a race.

It is actually a mix of pieces. The front is the BMW Aero lip, not from the M-Kit. The side skirts are from the M-kit. The rear bumper is stock, but I had a rear-valence piece molded to the bumper to accommodate the quad-exhaust from Bastuck.
