  • Presentation Style = Steve Jobs, he is probably great fan of Steve

  • I never knew the difference between fsx and xp till now!

  • Is this in Lelystad, Netherlands? I am from AMSTERDAM! Awesome I didn't XP was based in Holland.

DEMO

  • @kakajax "X-Plane" or Laminar Research is based in Columbia, South Carolina, USA. This presentation was in Lelystad.

  • FSX is a toy!

  • At least he's utilising multiple CPUs.

  • the first day of xpx was my bday XDDDD

  • what I don't get is why Austins presentation was held in a shitty room with terrible equipment. High school power point presentations look better. If this flight sim weekend event was such a big deal, one would think it would be a little more up scale/ have the nice appearance. Way to go Europe

  • @xplanefan90 Do you not realize that companies such as Microsoft have a major income from other departments such as PC's, and can afford all of that stuff? Austin has one piece of software which is still rising to its peak, while Microsoft has tons of people working on the same thing with much better equipment. I'm guessing that XP11's presentation will be held in a nice room with good equipment, you know why I think that?. Because, XP10 will be flight simulations biggest success so far.

  • What speca would you need to run this at full settings?

    Thanks in advance.

  • I think Austin needs to hire a PR guy to reach out to 'the other people' who are the potential market for X-Plane. The guy who did a fantastic make-over of the X-Plane website comes to mind. It's nice that they've got this video out without 'wasting time' making it look good, but I do hope they see the point in putting together proper 'treated' demo vids on the website. It pains me to see a great product look 'so-so' just because of poor PR.

  • Well actually Austin, getting first beta 18th of November when expecting release in X-mas... is quite a bit late...

  • People are scared of Austin. Look at 3:50. LOL. ; )

  • "Stupid" dutch people walking in front of the camera. Thank you for the movie. Looks good defiantly going to buy it.

  • sorry 20fps is not good compared to fsx

i have an 2 years old i5, te slowes versio and i can run all the addons i can imagine and get over 20fps

with defoult fsx i run at 40+fps

  • @Croasail You fail to see how X-Plane is better than FSX. Your FSX planes are a bunch of flying tables -- they don't interact with their environment much at all. XP planes fly through actual physics and forces acting on each part of the plane -- takes a lot more processing power than the static simulation that FSX uses.

Still though, the coolest thing we XPlane users want to see are wings ripping off and flying out into the distance and things like that... something we don't currently have.

  • @theanimaster i totaly agree that x-plane has better physics and you can make the plane fly realistic but that is coverd with great addons for fsx ( PMDG ) , where fsx is good its at simulating a real world of airlines traffic and with the huge number of scenary addons it just looks superb, much better than autogen

On day when most add-on developers switch then im shour xplane 10 will rock oh and when thy find a way to add realistick Ai traffic with real aircraft number

  • Ok he talks about no frame drops but then he says you need like 20 cpu-s and that on medium settings he gets 20fps ?!??!?!?!?!?

I dont need x-plane for that i have that in fsx

the autogen looks awsom but i dont want autogen , i want photoreal scenary for big airports and that is the point where fsx ruls so ,no changing until it has the same ammount of addonsas fs9 and fsx

  • @Croasail no he did not say that. he said on average computer you get 20fps which is good compared to fsx (they had water cooled computers running on the first presentation)

  • Thank you for uploading these! This is very much appreciated by all the simmers who couldn't make it to FS Weekend.

  • Looks very nice. I have lots of good addons for FSX so I will probably keep flying with it too, but I think that X Plane 10 is future of flight simulators and will buy it. Probably it will be much better than fsx with addons when theres enough good addons for it, will probably take few years.

I hope that area is that good quality or at least near that quality everywhere...

  • @Pvjinflight

Oh no, there will be plenty of add-ons right from the beginning because X-Plane 10 is compatible with the add-ons which run on X-Plane 9.6 or later (not sure for the exact sub-version). So all the airplanes that Carenado, JRollon and other are currently putting on the market during those last month, they will run straight away on X-Plane 10. Aerosoft is currently busy converting lots of add-ons and more and more developers are doing so.

  • @sadickes Ah ok nice. I heard that you can convert FSX sceneries to X plane 9, do those work on X plane 10 too?

  • @Pvjinflight

FSX sceneries can only be converted to version 9 if they are very simple or else they will not look the same. Porting complex airports scenery like the ones from Aerosoft do require more adaptations if you wish that they look as good as in FSX. The conversion of planes is way more complex and time consuming because they mostly have to be redeveloped in respect of the underlying X-Plane technology.

  • thanks for uploading man-

is x plane 10 better than fsx? im wondering if i should buy it for christmas

  • @hairybearz

Out of the box, it will be way better than a out of the box FSX. If you compare it with a pimped FSX with REX, Ultimated Terrain, GEX and plenty of other stuff then the difference will be less important. But each of the sims will hold it's strong points and weaknesses. The autogen in X-Plane is so much better than autogen in FSX. Roads, cars, trucks, houses and streets just look fantastic. Clouds also look more realistic in X-Plane 10.

  • @sadickes thanks for the quick reply!

cant wait for the other parts

    !

  • @hairybearz

I'm currently uploading part 2, but it is more time consuming than I thought because I have to cut the video, edit sound, apply a video noise reduction filter because of the low light. I also tried to correct the faulty colours from the broken projector, but anyway I try I could not fix that part.

  • With the time it takes me, I guess tonight I will only be able to upload part 2 and 3. Part 4 and 5 for Thursday. Part 6 on Friday. During the weekend I will synchronize the presentation in french and in german.

  • @sadickes thanks for the quick reply!

cant wait for the other parts!!

  • stop talking and start flying the 747 on screen.....jeez lol we get its better than FSX, now visually prove it :-P im buying this

  • @captainsmartass123

I´m sending the original raw HD files to Aerosoft tomorrow and they will make a shorter "best of" version out of it where you don´t have to wath the 90 minutes to find the scenes that matter.

I'm personally really exited by the quality of the new X-Plane 10, but this will not let me abandon FSX with my great add-on collection. For me it's not a choice between the one or the other, I'm looking forward to use both.

  • Looks great. Who are the douches that are walking in talking on phones?

  • @irishcurse65

Austin was ready ten minutes early and couldn't really hold back any longer :) just like a kid you was eager to show his new super duper toy to the world. He was really cool and nice, talking very straight forward what he was thinking. So people were poring in continually. The room was meant for 80 people, but after half an hour I guess there where more than 200 people inside and the air became heavy.

  • Austin Meyer is a bloody genius! How he has made this mainly by himself when Microsoft had an entire game studio... just mind-blowing. It is not only getting better than fsx, it is exceeding what fsx can ever do

  • @TheFlightguru

Well, the thing is that it is no more Austin by himself. His team is getting bigger and bigger. Since he had his great success with the mobile version of X-Plane he invested really hard in the making of this new version. And it seams that a big part from the industry is actually betting on X-Plane 10: Aerosoft, Carenado, REX and others are now taking a close look to evaluate their move to X-Plane and those are nothing less than PMDG, ORBX, VoxATC and more ...

  • more more more! cant wait to see the rest D: !!!! Thank youThank youThank youThank youThank youThank youThank youThank youThank youThank youThank youThank you :)

  • good ! i just can't wait to watch them !! :)

  • where are the other parts ?

  • @NicotineParasite

I will upload them during the next 24 hours. There are about 90 minutes of presentation with lots of X-Plane 10 footage.

  • woah

  • Looks epic cant wait.
