It wasn't consistent, it was gritty, grungy and full of soul. Start Something is a close second, because it was what FSOP would have been had they had the studio time/budget then. Last Train Home was the beginning of the end for them. I was on set for the video and even I knew it was just over. They didn't have to sell out to be mainstream, but they did.

Saw them two times already, one time in Hamburg and one time in Cologne - Prefered cologne, Live Music Hall is a great place to rock, not too big, still personal...
Although in Hamburg, Ian 'fell' (he did stagediving and they just dropped him... :D ) into the crowd which was pretty amazing. Security was like @*#+ü'+@!!!!! and he was like shaking hands and asking everybody how they were doing :D :D

This is... different. I'm still deciding whether I love it or not. I don't like the verses but I like the general direction. Sounds like they're taking an agrier approach at their roots but not quite The Betrayed. I'm excited, nonetheless. I'm feeling a good vibe.
Wow, this really is a great blend of pretty much all their phases over the years. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the album when it comes out in 2014 (only true fans will get that joke).

I think this new side of them is awesome. I have always liked their music and i still do i think this tune is really cool, if you were a fan to begin with i think u should be able to enjoy this with no problem. Lostprophets are still going strong if u ask me even stronger.
I can understand how people aren't impressed by this. It still sounds weird to me and I have listened to it numerous times since it was released. It's a bold move, that's for sure. I doubt the rest of the album will be similar though.

@ROBOOT103 Surely if you were such a huge Lostprophets fan you'd realise that bands have to change, to keep up with the other bands, and not lose money. You'd do the same. Yeah it does sound a bit samey, but there a few elements of A Fake Sound of Progress and Start Something in this song alone, the more manly sound, combined with the heavy guitar strums. It's rather impressiv,e I think you're trying to be bit too hipster with this comment.
As much as I liked The Betrayed, I was seriously hoping for more stuff like Start Something... Less dark. Oh well. It's not gonna stop me being a fan.
I don't understand all the hate for The betrayed. I thought it was a superb album. I admire them changing their style of music constantly. It's way better than being a one-dimensional band. Trying new things is always a good thing.
Maybe, just maybe this is Lostprophets returning to their bigger, heavier past!
If 'Weapons' includes the track 'Weapon' (have a look for it on youtube, a demo exists from the very early Betrayed sessions), then we might see something as groundbreaking as Fake Sound of Progress & Start Something.
They are amazing when they play heavy because Ians vocals are so naturally catchy and so are the harmonies, so it always balances out better when they write heavier stuff.
Can't wait for this album defiantly going to watch these guys live again so good best band I've seen live and they are just amazing Ian sound perfect as always

@ROBOOT103 Surely if you were such a huge Lostprophets fan you'd realise that bands have to change, to keep up with the other bands, and not lose money. You'd do the same. Yeah it does sound a bit samey, but there a few elements of A Fake Sound of Progress and Start Something in this song alone, the more manly sound, combined with the heavy guitar strums. It's rather impressiv,e I think you're trying to be bit too hipster with this comment.

I don't understand all the hate for The betrayed. I thought it was a superb album. I admire them changing their style of music constantly. It's way better than being a one-dimensional band. Trying new things is always a good thing.

Maybe, just maybe this is Lostprophets returning to their bigger, heavier past!
If 'Weapons' includes the track 'Weapon' (have a look for it on youtube, a demo exists from the very early Betrayed sessions), then we might see something as groundbreaking as Fake Sound of Progress & Start Something.
They are amazing when they play heavy because Ians vocals are so naturally catchy and so are the harmonies, so it always balances out better when they write heavier stuff.
