hi justin, im doing a project on the beatles music and how there guitars effected it, in your opinion what the difference between the sound of the hofner and the sound of the rickenbacker
@beatlefan247 the hofner is more thumpy sounding. the ric has more tone controls so you can get a variety of sounds from it..from thumpy, muddy sounds to crisp and crunchy sounds and everything in between. also keep in mind that macca was very good at manipulating controls to get different tones so he could get various tones out of both basses. There is a lot of controversy on songs like come together as to which bass he really used
Very nice job, Justin. I like the fact that you got the second bridge ("she was a day tripper, one way...") differently from the first one, just as is in the original... most people just repeat the parts over and over.
I disagree with some of the notes, but I think the overall is awesome.
nice to see you recorded this with a toaster;)

is this the bass paul used on day tripper or was it his hofner?
BandOnTheRun87 2 years ago
pretty sure it was the ric
Justin2129 2 years ago
I don't think Paul started using a Rickenbacker bass until the Abbey Road phase.
MyBumIsOnTheSwedish 2 years ago
@MyBumIsOnTheSwedish nooo I think he went back to his Hofner on Abbey Road and Let It Be I may be wrong though
rockerr12595 1 year ago
the first use of the ric was on think for yourself, which was recorded after day tripper.
jimmy3284 2 years ago
it had to have been the ric on day tripper, bc it's played so far up the neck. The hofner had intonation problems
Justin2129 2 years ago
You are left handed just like Paul McCartney.

what notes do you disagree with? i'm always looking to improve
Justin2129 2 years ago
I think the second bridge notes are the same as in the first bridge (F#-Bb-C#-E-Eb-F#), just the *timing* of the said notes are different.
Rock on!
