Super:

@whyeff21 Judging by Corrina's criteria, lard doesn't really belong in the junk food column. It is neither high glycemic nor is it processed. It also fills you up quicker which means you'll eat less.
@Altois Ya, I just junked lard because it would block your arteries and kill you. I never cook with it despite it being tasty. Not as nutritious for what it it's worth either. So It's a junk food to me personally.
junk is anything deep fried, soft drinks, sugar, I hate term superfood as if that food is a cure, but still for me these are spinach, avacadoes, seaweed
Junk you don't really realize: Cheese, white bread, french fries, CHEESE(of any kind! it's not healthy at all, but many think of it that way), Cereals(same as with cheese), the worst stuff is SODA and also to some extrent fruit juices and of course Smoothies.
I lost 20kg(google the lbs to it I wont :P) by just cutting that stuff out and drinking no calories at all(by drinking water ;)) and eating whole meal bread instead of white.
This girl is really good, she clearly knows her stuff and can help. Very informative and thanks for explaining it all in a manner that i can understand.

...also, along with cooking "methods", could you discuss what "materials" to use and avoid? For example, does the smoke that comes from Grilling outside have major health consequences compared to "electric grilling"? Do Teflon coated pans leak (as opposed to when you obviously scratch the surface) chemicals into your Food? or, what's the best material to use for a Water Bottle? Food Grade Stainless Steel vs. non-BPA plastics? Thanks!
Thanks for the refresher Corrina - great Vid!! I feel like I've got a good handle on what Foods to eat, and what Foods to avoid, but now I'm wondering how to best (nutritionally) prepare/cook them.
For example, if I make a fruit smoothie, am I destroying/changing the nutrition profile of a Food when I blend it up? Same goes for cooking: how does Steaming vs. Low Temp Slow Cooking vs. High Temp Fast Cooking affect nutrition profiles? Is this a topic you could readily cover in a Video?
crap foods....twinkies, bigmacs and sausage.....superfood...fried twinkies....double bigmacs....sausage, egg and cheese...am i close? didnt think so, that's why i need some help, or i am going to die..already had 3 stents put in last year and still eating horribly...someone that could please give me tips to start enjoying healthier foods would be awesome.
@AgApE010 There is no top ten. In fact, making a list of top 100 is probably hard. Actually, just forget about superfoods. Eat various kinds of healthy whole foods is enough.
u do a great job of explaining things. i am up to 4 days a week exercising 3 days not. with eating i feel like u do, just more natural fresh food and less junk food. like going to local burger place and paying extra getting a fresh burger with organic meat and produce, etc. it not only is good for u but just tastes better. its hard not to snack. everyone likes sweets. but the big things: don't smoke, keep drinking in line, exercise some, eat fresh alive food, minimum soda, etc
fantastic video! seriously already showing this on google +
my biggest question at the moment is I have a friend who's 22 who's already on blood-pressure medication (probably a statin) she SWEARS its genetic, that her fathers side is just stress prone and there is nothing nutritonally she can do about it. I suggested 5htp, and some other anti-oxidants but she'd resistant. any ideas?
Sticking to this basic formula helped me lose a lot a weight and lower all my cholesterol and triglycerides numbers when training for the National Guard!
@WTFworldusuck You stupid fucking cunt....nobody wants to know this you disgusting prick. i hope your wife is hit by a fucking car and your kids all get aids. Fucking filthy bastard.
I bet blueberries are in the superfoods category. Perhaps strawberries as well (fairly low in calories for all of their nutritional value). Lots of junk foods, not sure which are the worst though. French fries, twinkies, donuts . . . hard to tell.
After watching Sugar:The Bitter Truth and The Sugar Daddy Movie (both on youtube) I appreciate this video greatly now that I have to re-educate myself on sugar and the fact that it is not a nutrient (which the sugar industry does not confirm BUT they do a good job at strong implications that it is a nutrient). Our bodies can actually take the necessary sugar (glucose) from the essential foods, anything else is added and not necessary. I'm from Jamaica where sugarcane is as normal as grass.
Corrina, I like everything you appear in. I like your face, your voice, and even your crooked nose. In fact, your nose is your personal symbol. I hope you never change it. Anyway, I could listen to you read the phone book and still keep interest. By the way, what happend to your breast massage video?
There is quite a lot of misinformation in this video. There is no research that shows Fat is bad for you, to the contrary, there are a lot of research being done that proves High fat, high protein, low carb life styles are healthier.
Anyone looking for good food advice with real research backing it up might want to look up Andreas Eenfeldt, Robert Lustig or Gary Taubes. Carbs and sugars are the devil. It pisses me off to see all this Bad Science still being passed around.
@alkemus I didn't say that fat is bad for you, and you're right that fat in general is vital to our health. The problem is when a food contains considerably more fat than nutrition or if the fat is unhealthy fat (like hydrogenated and processed oils.) I am in no way trying to tell people to avoid eating fats, just to opt for healthy fats like avocados and coconut oil.
Read the ingredients of everything you eat! The more complex the vocabulary it is probably less healthy. Anything closer to its raw or natural state is best. A)Ex. Peanut Butter: Peanuts, sugar, sea salt... GOOD B)Ex. Peanut Butter: Peanuts, hydrogenated oil, corn syrup, iodized sodium chloride
I've been hearing and reading all kinds of controversial food advice. Some docs are now saying that vitamins are bad for you. Went to a class today where the instructor says you have to eat 3 meals a day to loose weight, Apple Juice has arsenic in it. Synthetic sugars are nothing but rat poisoning, and according to vegetarians, meat is bad for you. I mean, what is going on, what is a body supposed to do? Which professionals do I listen to?
@007HubbaBubba The way I sorted a lot of that stuff out was just paying attention to how my body feels and reacts to what I eat. For example: Refined sugars make me tired. Fruit makes me feel good and gives me lasting energy. Wheat or Gluten causes inflammation in my body so I don't eat it. I generally feel better when I take vitamins. Eating fast food makes me tired and sometimes gives me a headache because of the MSG. People need different diets, do what works for you.
@psychetruth ...I agree, getting educated by concerned and knowledgeable people such as yourself is good for us cullinary neophytes to learn, and from there just modify one's diet as such. I myself just can't go the bland vegetarian diet, and I got to have my coffee sweet like you, with cream and sometimes cocoa to. And excercise is most important as well as diet. So, carry on and keep on putting out these good videos.
@psychetruth ...about the vitamins, the pundits and pros were talking about supplemental vitamins and herbs, getting to much, minerals mainly I believe.
@007HubbaBubba I've been trying to learn this stuff for years. The best I've learned so far is to eat as much nonprocessed, "real" food as possible. Avoid sugar ... Fats depend on your own body if they are goood or bad... and pay attention to how your body FEELS with differetn foods. For example, bread and cheese makes me bloated.. and soups make me feel happy. Sean Croxton from Underground Wellness ahs helped me a lot though I disagree with some of what he says.. Good luck!!!
In my experience, when vegetarians say "meat is bad for you" they're usually saying it out of ethical concerns, not health ones. When they do speak of health concern, it is usually with reference to eating meats like bacon or high-fat cuts of beef, in which case they're right; those kinds of meat are bad for you.
Personally, my meat intake is primarily chicken, salmon, and turkey. No vegan can tell me my eating meat is unhealthy. :))
@007HubbaBubba Vitamins occur naturally in food but the vitamins in pills are manufactured, synthetic versions of it. They're not "bad" but it's not as recognizable to the body as natural vitamins. The chemicals that make up artificial sweeteners are the same as used in some poisons for pests, so use them sparingly. You shouldn't use a ton of sugar, sweetener, or honey in anything anyway, so it's better to have natural forms of sugar such as what occurs naturally in fruits, not actual sugar.
@007HubbaBubba You should eat when you are hungry, and stop when you are "satisfied" or about 70-80% full (never 100%). Meat is a tough one. The biggest issue with meat (aside from animal rights) is the fact that livestock are injected with antibiotics and stuff and it affects our bodies when we eat that meat. It also takes more energy to digest meat so it can make you tired. (continued)
@007HubbaBubba Also, organic or not, when an animal is about to be slaughtered, the fear and anxiety causes HUGE amounts of adrenaline to rush through the entire body, and is left that way as it's butchered up. Especially if you're a spiritually or emotionally sensitive person, you can really feel yourself get down a bit after eating meat. I still eat meat once in a while so I'm not vegetarian, but that's my main thing - the way it makes me feel dull. Didn't know about apples and arsenic though!
@007HubbaBubba So basically all of the comments I left can be summed up as "Do what feels right and good for your body", but really PAY ATTENTION to how your body feels, and link it to what you're doing - eating, sleeping, how you're sitting, what you're drinking, if you're exercising enough, etc. Your body has it's own way of being wise, so let it show you!
I don't do assignments . To me the junkiest of junk food is anything I like to eat.( in the past).
I have learned so much from psychetruth and changed my diet. Incedible results. More energy, wake up easier ,through the roof sex life, better sleep,
Can you do a video that shows some foods that people generally don't think of as healthy are actually really good for them such as condiments like mustard, black pepper, sauerkraut. It's hard to change peoples diet, but if they can add nutrients to their diet that give them more nutrition while they scarf down the Big Macs. Ever notice that Taco Bell no longer adds Chives to their food, it was too healthy for us.

@psychetruth ...about the vitamins, the pundits and pros were talking about supplemental vitamins and herbs, getting to much, minerals mainly I believe.

@psychetruth So, if sugar makes me feel relaxed and energetic I should treat it as a super food ?
mrdarcyme 2 months ago
@mrdarcyme only if it makes you feel relaxed and energetic for a long time without eating more sugar.

@007HubbaBubba Everybody is different. Like Psychetruth said, watch how your body reacts to what you eat.
