  • I only hope to Hand that, after all these years, they don't screw up with Creatures 4...

  • @LilDruid There won't be a Creatures 4 - since the company (Creature Labs) intended to exploit the idea and mastermind of the porject (Steve Grand), for commercial purposes.

He left the company in 1999.

He's working on new stuff though, his current project is called "Grandroids" and are supposed to be the first artificial intelligences which can imagine or dream.

The Norns in Creatures could only react to events, but not think for themselves.

If it succeeds it surely will be a breaktrough.

  • @xSakijix

Look up Creatures 4 here on youtube. it is indeed coming out.

Also I'm very much looking forward to Grandroids.

  • They should make Creatures 4 in 3D.Like That giant ship in C3 after 2000 years crashed on other planet.

  • @LegoTeletubbie No. 3D would ruin the concept.

  • Rofl, I never got this intro to work when I used to play this game. First time seeing it. XD

  • This was one of the first pc games i ever played. And you know what, probably the best one i ever played. Sadly i dont have the game anymore but i'll always have fond memories of the game.

  • i think i liked this so much when i was about 12 ,just because of the sheer imagination

  • Still got the original game. I'm a little shocked it still works mostly perfect on Vista. Even shows up in the Vista games list complete with ESRB rating.

  • wow, reminds me of Myst

  • @Piccadillyo The intro here is a bit misleading, to be honest. The game isn't really anything like Myst. In fact, the game takes place on a 2D sidescrolling world that loops when you go far enough around it. (Most of the background is actually photos of this really neat model someone built for the company) As for the gameplay, you're raising, teaching, and breeding these little creatures called Norns.

  • @Glitchfinder lol yeah I've played Creatures 2 and 3 :) I actually prefer it to games like Myst, even though it does just feel cripplingly pointless after a while

  • Just awesome and beutifull ^.^

I allways love this intro and the music allways sooth me :3

Going allways to remind me of how I became a creature fan,as well a creature breed developer I am today XD

  • This game was an enormous part of my childhood, and I still miss it terribly.

  • The butterfly has spoken, you are the next Norn Breeder! Shepard these experiments well!

  • This was the most amazing game and the first serious game I ever played. Also, the music in this introduction sets the mood perfectly.

    Ahh, memories ^^

  • butterfly effect

  • @dbin42 So true. Literal as that may be, this game is rather unpredictable, to say the least.

  • Creatures 1, my favorite episode of the saga.

  • i think they worked the hardest on creatures one.man i wish they still played music when you pushed on the icons for exsample breeders kit!i love the music!

  • 13 year old Artificial Intelligence still destroys most of 2009's. The game was sheer brilliance and will never be topped.

  • Agreed. I miss this game so much. I really think it was a masterpiece that had so much time and effort put into it.

  • I'm trying to get this to work on XP, not much luck, I have done it before though.

  • Rare is the day that passes when I don't wish the CC was alive again.

  • The CC is alive, though not at it's sparkling best. Check out Creaturetopia. or Creatures Caves.

  • I've been to Creatures Caves before, but I haven't heard of Creaturetopia before now. Do any of you still update the wiki?

  • I'm sure someone does. Check the CCSF 2009 content, there's been some really cool releases, like the Docking Station splicer!

  • I'd join that, but looking back on CAOS, it's amazing how stifling that set of commands really is. I've gotten used to actual programming languages at this point. It would take a while to get used to that again. But yeah, you're right. There are some pretty cool releases in there.

  • Come to think of it, I once made a completely immortal norn in C1. Nothing could kill it, because everything, from poisons to food, went to its supply of energy. (Suddenly, I've forgotten what they actually named the chemical that the norns used to survive, and that they died when they ran out of. The one the deathcap mushroom's toxin eats away at)

  • @Glitchfinder I've kinda moved on to running wikifur.com, but I drop back there now and again. We really need to move it off Wikia, though - the ads are getting truly oppressive.

  • This is a game and its series will remain popular for a long time. They should make a new game though.

  • It doesn't look like they plan to. They even shut down the official store, which had some cool stuff that you can't really find any more.

  • I know, but I am saying that if the creatures fans would donate to and support Creatures more, then maybe they would make a new one.

  • That's the thing. Creatures has changed hands several times, and it looks like the current company is not nearly as interested in making a profit off of it as previous ones. Especially since they released a good number of the premium downloads for free, like the Genetics kits.

  • One of my favourite games ever. Even after 13 years it's still great.
