  • How old was Amy Grant in this video?

  • @bdavid1986 This song is from 1985 and she is born in 1960, so I guess she was 25 or almost 25.

  • LOL christ I was in first grade when I heard this, I am a guy but was hummming it because it was the last song I had heard that day, my girl cousin was laughing at me, I told her I was not and to shut up.

  • This is really nice.I like the album

  • I was in rehab in 1988 ~ quite the experience I must say ~ alcohol lowered my lithium level and gave way to paranoia ~ they pumped me full of drugs ~ LOL I made crafts and learned to play ping pong ~ it was a private hospital so the food was fabulous ~ just fabulous. I had two cassettes - this one and one I can't recall. I listened to this song and maybe an......it just came to me - the Special Olympics Christmas with Whitney Houston "Do you hear what I hear" .....

    Peace,

  • Amy hit #29 in Billboard, 7-27-85. God bless ya, sister Amy. Get back to singin' for the church! God bless ya, b, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • This reached #29 Pop, #7 Adult Contemporary in Billboard. Amy looks so YOUNG in this video... she was only 24 at the time. She was beautiful then, and still is beautiful today at the age of 50.

About Amy's being a maverick in the Christian music industry - again I say, good for her. I have heard she is also supportive of gay rights (and she has very many gay and lesbian fans, particularly gay men). I think she has shown the love of Christ much better than a Pat Robertson or Fred Phelps.

  • @Superbook4Eva Fred Phelps is just plain evil. All of Westboro Baptist Church are horrible. Check on Youtube to see what WBC does at the funerals of Vets.

  • i finishe reading a biography of amy grant a few days ago...i'm a fan...her career was calculated no different from michael jackson's or the beatles....she always intended to get her message out to the widest audience possible...if that meant going pop, so be it...she's also very honest about who she is and about being a woman...she not ashamed of her sexuality and doesn't try to hide...bascially, she's just saying it's cool to be you, god still loves you...

  • unguarded was the first christian album i bought an d i wore it out

  • Saw her do this song at Jesus Northwest in '85.

  • I love me some Amy Grant but she dances like Elaine in Seinfeld.

  • VH-1 used to play this song a LOT back then!

  • @StarX81 a true VH-1 Classic, back when both them and M-TV played MUSIC VIDEO's

  • @StarX81 This song came out in 1985. VH1 began in 1989.

  • @wagrailroad VH1 began in 1985. It's 4 years younger than MTV.

  • talk about fashion faux paw

  • 1:52 So, that's where Elaine Benes got her moves.

  • I love this song and I love Amy! Thank goodness WE aren't going to judge her when we ALL stand before our creator, God. Let's just pray for her and encourage her. She's doing a great job reaching the lost with her talent! God bless you Amy....(I love the 80's .... my era)

  • reminds me of the old days at skate country in metairie, la

  • Love Amy Grant she's awesome her split from the first spouse was tough, 2nd is a success. May she have a better life then what she had! Good tune she rawks!

  • I just reviewed this album for my blog. Please go check it out at and leave me lots of comments

  • She was the First Lady of Christian rock until she got into that duet with Peter Cetera, and split from her first husband and married Vince Gill. Don't get me wrong, I like the tune, but those decisions hurt her testimony for Christ, which is a pity.

  • @kja427 Very Judgmental of you dont you think? Everyone knows Amy and her roots are with Christian Music and her love for Christ, even today. The Secular music you speak of was not distasteful or wrong, which is how you make it sound, and which she has worked with some great artists! She still is and will always be the first lady of Christian Rock no matter what, and her testimony still stands as proof to that. So think twice before you judge someone about their personal life and decisions.

  • @kja427 If we were all to look at what we have done and think about how those thing hurt OUR testimony for Crhis, maybe we could forgive otheres when they make mistakes. The whole premise of Christianity is knowing that we are, indeed, sinners and will stand before a Holy God someday. Without Christ to stand with us, and for us, we are doomed to hell. That applies to all of us. Christians are not perfect, far from it. We are however, forgiven, as all can be, if they choose to be.

  • I'm a 45 year old MAN, and I admit it...I LOVE this song. The lyrics are inspiring, Amy's voice is in top form, the tune is catchy as all hell...this tune always has made me smile.

  • I love the clothing of the 80s.

  • Well guys, just so ya know

    Today is Amy Grant's Birthday

That's right, Mrs. Vince Gill is 50 years old and she has aged gracefully

I grew up listening to Amy Grant when I was little and I watched her songs on CBN (now abc family) and ACTS (now the Hallmark Channel)

Happy Birthday to ya Amy, God Bless and Thanks for Touching our Hearts w/your songs

Your are TRULY The Queen of Christian Pop

and this song was out when The Cosby Show, HUNTER and Miami Vice were still on the air

  • The christian Madonna. I love Amy Grant.

  • She is so cute in this, and is still gorgeous today. I loved so many of her songs and the messages within them. I practically grew up with the music in her 1991 and 1994 albums.

  • @rjky1986 If I remember right, this was my very first self bought cassette!! Love it!!

  • Amy Grant the only artist who mattered to me when I was a teenager, I had a bad teenage life and I was not religious, but listening to Amy's music got me through those dark days. Just great uplifting music.

  • I love Amy Grant, but she dances like Elaine on Seinfield.. LMBO!!!

  • This song reminds me of the 80s laying out by the wave pool at Wet N' Wild soakin up the rays!:)

  • love the outfits, and of course the song too. :)

  • amy proved that a christian girl could be cool...she was actually hot....her songs sounded more mainstream than christian...she even danced and encouraged dancing at her concerts...she wasn't as angelic as people thought

  • This is the song that changed my life. I was just 23 years old when this came out. I am 47 now. I credit this song and Amy Grant for my change then and now. Although, I always believed in God... I wasn't serving Him like I should have been. This song and album made me realize that in order to truly live, I needed to serve God. I made a change then and I'm proud to say, I am a better person for doing so. Peace

  • Amy Grant was the first Christian artist to successfully make it onto to the mainstream Top40 with Find a Way....still a great song

  • Hit #7 AC, #29 pop in Billboard. Cowritten with future pop artist, Michael W. Smith. God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg Future(?) pop artist Michael W Smith. Uh. When this song was released MWS already had 3 albums under his belt, and several hits on the Billboard Christian chart

  • @harleykman I was talkin' about before Smitty had some pop hits of his own on the mainstream chart. God bless!

  • Always liked this song - had the 45 and played it on the radio when I had a late night show. I've never seen the video - it's a hoot!

  • Scarry thing is that this type of cloting is coming back. Skinny pants, bold prints and bright coloers.

  • @AshleyHolmes26 Haha Yup, but the shoulder pads aint back yet. :p To be honest, I've been wearing these kinds of clothes since the 80's. I never really changed, I just adjusted. :p But some of the 80's styles were the worst fashion of all time, I swear. :p

    God Bless ~Amy

  • My gosh, her voice hasnt changed, even after 20 years....Amazing.

  • She's really pretty.

  • I love how people on this thread keep quoting scripture...sure since of a hypo-Christian which means you really don't know what you're talking about, all you can do is quote scripture. Pathetic...

  • I love the lyrics! Thank you for posting this video!

  • 1985. this came out before I was born

  • 1985.

  • Thank you Amy for sharing your faith in the Lord through your music. I love the part at 2:20 where it goes "If our God His Son not sparing came to rescue you, is there any circumstance that He cant see you through?" This song made it on the secular radio back in the 80s. Its harder for a Christian artist to do that now.

  • I REALLY miss the 80's look..I wish it would come back..

  • I prefer the 80's to stay right where it is tyvm

  • She had some good music, that's for sure. Just wish she didn't perpetuate the stereotype that white people can't dance, as this video illustrates.

  • The only Christian artist I ever liked.

  • Comment removed

  • She's the first one I listened to,as well.

  • What can I say? I love that godamn dancing Christian.

  • @castingtherunes

Well thats amusing, taking the Lords name in vain,in describing one of the most influential Christian artists

  • You assure me of no such thing,in regard to the taking of the Lord's name in vain,in your "praise" of Amy's talents

  • *YAWN*

  • Exodus 20:7 You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.

  • I assure you he really does. When was the last time you read the 10 commandments?

  • 1:12 Gorgeous.

  • What year did this song came out?

  • probably around 1985 or 86 if I remember correctly

  • Yes, 1985.

  • ahhh yes, 1985, such memories! (it was the year I graduated high school) lol

  • I LOVED this song in 1985. Was one of the first Amy Grant songs I'd ever heard at that point. I remember taping it off the radio and listening to it over and over again. It's still such a great song!!

  • i grew up on this even though im jewish.. she gave me faith to find my way....back in 87-90's...

  • Have the vinyl lp its own

  • Brings back a lot of memories from 1985....some good....some bad.

  • Amy LEE GRANT was born NOVEMBER 25, 1960 in Augusta, GA, meaning she turned 16 on the day NFL QB Donovan McNabb was born in Chicago, IL. Of course, Amy GRANT is not basketball player GRANT Henry Hill of Duke University & undistinguished NBA fame--despite her marrying fellow country recording artist Vincent GRANT "Vince" Gill (b. April 12, 1957). Before marrying GILL, she had been married to country singer Gary Chapman (1957), who shares an AUG. 19th birthday with 42nd prez Bill Clinton (1946).

  • OMG She DOES look like Julia-Louis-Dreyfuss LOL!! before she became "Old Christine"

  • Amy Grant is the most awesome Christian singer! I don't have to choose between Disney music or religious music, Amy offers inspirational music that now, in 2009, at age 11 I love Amy Grant's Music!!!!!!

  • Brings back memories. I love Amy Grant. She is one of the best singers in my book. And yes her dancing in this video reminds me of Elaine from Seinfeld. Still love her though.

  • I just watched that episode and YEAH, I can see what you're talking about ROFL! She's a fantastic singer!

  • @bluemyst75 hahahaha

  • @bluemyst75 OMG...that's a good one....Elaine from Seinfeld...lol

  • Love will find a way.

  • I think this is probably my favorite song that she does! I love singing to it when I'm alone. xD

  • wow this is a Amy Grant classic...! My Uncle, used to play this for me in his car, wayyyyy back when.

  • She dances like Elaine Benes.

  • looks like her and Darlene Zschech had the same dance teacher lol

  • How is love this song. It brought me through some awful times when it was on the radio, and is still great today. I just had to be reminded...

  • I use to sing this when I was 16, I made a tape one time with just the karaoke. It's a good song still today.

  • hey 80s fashions rocked! hers were great-everyone loved that leopard jacket

  • And we didn't really dress like they did in music videos - well, maybe the jacket, but not with the gold shirt :) I totally had my "Amy Grant Jacket" and wore it when I sang her songs at school, in talent shows and stuff :) Mine was black with gold paisley. Very special ;-) Just about every guy I knew then was in so much love with Amy and thought her jacket (which she got all judged for - i still don't get that even a little bit) was very cool! Great tune!

  • Love the hair, love the jacket, definitely love the solid gold shirt. I hope she wins....

  • I do. I grew up then, but the clothes they gave her to wear are ill fitting, esp. that red dress.

  • I love this song so much

  • Great song, love Amy, but the clothing stylist should been shot.

  • But you realize this is 80's right?

  • @eldot4 LOL

  • She doesn't sing with a whole lot of emotion. My, this is so old. When I first heard this, I thought it was really cool. In a funny nostalgic kind of way, it still is. She is wearing the weirdest kind of leopard jacket and blouse!

  • She doesn't sing with a whole lot of emotion. Are you serious?

  • I got introduced to Amy Grant's music at YMCA Camp in the summer of 1984.

Amy Grant is/was gorgeous but let's face it, she dances like Elaine Benis on Seinfeld.

  • Good thing she's a singer, not a dancer, huh? :-)

  • LOL. I just rented her Greatest Hits video or something like that from Netflix and on the commentary, she said just about the same thing of herself :) I still don't know why everyone suddenly had to start being dancers as well as singers when vids got so popular!

These are great to watch - I love her "old" stuff. It's all so incredibly timely! Thy Word, El Shaddai... that is just great music!!

  • classic!

  • Amy is so bewtiful in this video..and today she is still bewtiful!!

  • Vintage Amy Grant!!! Love it!!!

  • I used to have a VHS of a bunch of song of hers when I was about 8 and this was my favorite song. Funny it took a Lewis Black performance to bring back these memories lol

  • this song has brought me to tears and made me laugh many times!

  • El Shaddai

  • i remember my mum playin this in the car first thing everytime we drove in the car when i was little

  • im 27 and i remember my mom used to play this song over and over and i was like 5,6 07 years old!!! this is crazy

  • Yeah I was a teenager when this song was out and I loved it.

  • i'm 30, the album Straight Ahead(1984) was listened to my mom from beginning to end everyday when I was a tot, raised in a pentacostal household.

  • I remember hearing this song in the summer of 85. Even today, this song gotten me through a lot of tough times in my life. I can definitely relate to the first verse. When I hear this song, it puts a lot of things into perspective and hepls me deal with the phony people and haters in my life.

  • it brings back memories and present issues also! she hasnt changed in her looks at all either!!!!!

  • Peabrain goes around to every clip becoz you have nothing in that so called brain of yours except air.sad lonely sod1

  • This is the fist Amy Grant song I ever heard. I still love it now as much as I did then!

  • very good...Amy rocked in "her day":-)

    WadeElvisMan

  • Amy Grant fanclub... millions strong!!!

  • Absolutely Amazing Absolutely AMY!! this song reminds me as a perfect to have as a soundtrack, like for a great 80's song or a great Romance or something.

  • I love this song so much I cant believe I found it,thank u so much.

  • Well you would know about being a fruitcake how is it with that airhead?

  • Next time,"rule",try posting something original,not a repeated comment

  • Remember this song from the skating ring...lol the 80's were something else! Saw her play in concert and for what her music is it was really a great show and she played a long long time.

Glad to see she is still active...the Word of God never stops !

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR! ALI.

  • haha, Amy looks identical to a friend of mine in Alabama. I'm not Christian, but I love this song. Well written!

  • Grew up on this cut. Great song, but very corny music video.

  • Agreed but if you want to see something cornier, check out the "Angels" music video. Both songs are amazing though.

  • I agree. The angels song is tight, but the video had me up in stitches. Found a mid-80s video compilation a couple of years ago with her 84-86 music videos. She's still awesome!

  • I remember this song when I was a kid. Its so awesome! Like her other Gospel hits. I love her other songs too( Angels watchn over me!)great songs Amy!

  • Great song! Ive been searched it for years and years and finally I found the way to listen it (youtube)

  • This is the song that made me "fall in love" with Amy back in 1985!!! Thanks for posting!!

  • Real Christians don't throw stones. I hear so many out there quick to judge but if the Master appeared to them in the flesh ,they would be shut down so fast. Yet, the Master is still watching...

  • CCM fans are so fickle. This song is awesome!

  • My God, back in 1985, I just wanted to "explode in flames" with Amy Grant. But now she's ancient and withered from time... just like me. oohhhh, Amy.

  • TOTALLY 80'S

  • I love her!!!

  • I believe this.

  • one of the few honest Christians out there, and of course the rest of the tribe tortured her because she wanted to be happy. why are Christians so damned irritating?

  • Amy Grant has got to be one of the most sincere, down to earth people out there. I remember when this first came out- her first pop single. I first saw the video on VH-1, when it actually showed videos.

  • WOW! Thanks for uploading this, I actually have never soon this video! I have seen the live performance of it, but not this one :D

I did see her in concert once back in the late 80's..it was awesome. Thanks again for this :D

  • I still have this VHS tape in my house.I am trying to buy a jacket like that one for my niece for a Christmas present; I have been looking now for 3 years.love this video.

  • This is when she did cross over to mainstream but it is the one song I will always remember her for. You cannot listen to it and not feel better. There are few songs today we can say that about that were played on the radio extensively as this one was, not just Christian stations. The video played in nightclubs and the message spread to many people. The video is great.

  • Reminds me of my High School days.

  • gay men love amy grant!!!

  • ....but more straight ones do! ;-)

  • i am normally into industrial music, but i just love amy grant, nothing but positivity we need more of that today

  • reminds me of my christian dayz

  • "If our god, his Son not sparing"...That line has always hit me hard. When a major marital crisis hit me in 1999, I heard this song again while in the hospital and it helped a lot. (and no, it was NOT domestic Violence)Because the Lord did see me through.

  • Nice use of a key line out of "How Great Thou Art"!

  • I had a bit of a crush on Amy when I was younger, thanks in part to this video (which I first saw after 'Baby Baby' was released). But, due to my secular views, I was indifferent to her religious messages. I just thought she was cute, wholesome, and sang catchy songs with a lovely voice.

  • a favorite from my high school years

  • i loved this song from way back but i swear it reminds me of a jem and the holograms song.

  • This song peaked at number 19 on the Billboard chart.

    Not a major hit.

On the Christian charts it went to #1, and was the third most-popular for CCM 1985.

  • Simply the best years of Christian music ever!!

  • yay this is my new favorite birthday song seeing as my daddy sent this to us today on my sister's 15th b-day! happy birthday kumi!

  • AMY Vs. MADONNA? ther's no comparsison. Amy has lived her life; her music to share her faith> Madge has shown us her body parts and her other worldliness. Amy! how refreshing! and SHE DOES SELL OUT her concerts and has a lovely fan base of lovely folks like here. AMY IS THE BEST and more talented any day

  • Yeah, I remember Madonna telling us that she wouldn't want her daughter watching her music videos because they are so sexual. I'd have no problem showing my kids Amy Grant videos.

  • Huh?

  • Beautiful & Surreal.

  • AMy is a cutie pie.. soo adorable, and her

    voice is angelic.

  • In the 80's, while Madonna was out making a fool of herself, Amy Grant played it low key. The media didn't pay her as much attention because she wasn't a whore. Obviously, her voice is so much better than Madonna's. Amy Grant is a gift from God.

  • What have Madonna got to do with this??

  • Thats What I'm Wondering

  • I see what you mean. When the MTV generation was calling on AG to dress up provacably, etc, she remained true to her heart's convections. Madonna was a horrible role model and Amy, well she was a lovely and better alternative. I OWN ALL AG's music--and not a one of Md. Why?: A's music ministers to me

  • Where do you get off calling Madonna a whore? Madonna sings pop music, back in the 80's Amy was crossing over. Madonna is not as good of a vocalist but obviously has more overall talent since I don't see Amy in movies and selling our arena concerts. Don't speak of God and be so judegment in the same sentence. Go back and read the bible so you can learn how to be a respectful person to all people.

  • Let's not get overexcited, first of all about people calling Madonna a whore after she spent YEARS cultivating her bad-girl image, and secondly about Madonna's acting, which has been about 1/3 typecast (Dick Tracy), 1/3 good (Desperately Seeking Susan) and 1/3 remarkably bad (Swept Away).

  • I really like this song by Amy too. Gotta love the 80's beat too.

  • Thank you for posting. I never knew there was a video for this song. May God bless you all.

  • I seriously miss this video! This song was my jam when i was little!!!

  • this was edgy for Amy during that era...86-87.

  • Wow I don't think I have ever heard this one. I am just going to take a random guess here it was made in the 80's right? I don't why I would think that? LOL. I am guessing 1985 or 86 it just feels that way. I like this song it is catchy. Her music is so positive.
