  • wtf so many heratas. Sounds cool though

  • @M3ssageT4k3n Not hertas, Just tap drags. And thanks

  • that was AWESOME!!!

  • Really cool man! I loved the solo parts from 0:57 to 1:10

  • I don't think I've ever seen a buzz stroke notated with a trill before. Nice.

  • The snare drum part is so much fun, although it's a pain to play with traditional grip.

  • at 0:10 is that a stick click then a rim shot?

  • @Djagfan stick click, rim click, then rim knock.

  • @reeldeelpeel cool. this piece is awesome! my high school drumline is considering buying this next year, since the marching season is over for this year.

  • what is the program you used

  • why is it only counting my views?

  • I think having a street beat in 6/8 also with solos wouldn't make a good street beat.. But it would make an awesome solo! great job though! love the piece!

  • Hey man I am a bass 5 in high school and those bass lines dude were pretty amazing: I loved :49 to 1:02 sweet

  • Is there any way I could get this in sheet music because I would really love to learn it I just need to know what to do to get the music for it?????????

  • Sweet basslines in there, and tenor lines too.

  • were the snares diddling on measures 47-52? Didn't sound like it.

  • @tehPHAT5ANTA14 The diddles were put on eighth notes, which basically turns them into sixteenth notes.

  • OMG! that breakdown at 0:46! that felt soo serious and bad ass at the same time! :DD

  • @MXBoy360,

I'm glad you liked that part, and thanks for the comment.

  • Very cool :)

  • @philmccrackenproduct,

    Thank you.

  • AYE! i was feelin that! it could use some editingl like maybe extending the 6/8 part with a smoother transition in and out (mainly smoother into it and maybe like a quick rest at the end of it then come back in) Love 0:34-0:56

  • @meis2steph11, Thanks for the comment! I agree, there are more and more things I want to change about this every month, it's getting pretty old.

  • me and the rest of our line at my high school r gunna ask our instructor to buy this from u cuz this piece sounds sick!

  • what program did you use to compose this?

  • id play quints on this

  • how do you create buzzez like the snares have on the upbeats in measure 19?

  • What the fuzz is a Spock? O_o

  • @wolfboy12321 it is the smallest drum on a tenor or quint

  • 0:34 yea bass 4

  • this is awesome i will deff get my band director to lok at this he will be surprised cause i play tenor saxophone!

  • how do you read the snare part? for example, why are there two different rim shots? and what are the left hand hits with a slash through the note?

  • Your bass writing is phenomenal

  • Those 6/8 break downs are too sick!!! dude you can write!!!

  • The only part I couldn't sightread was the part around 1:32...very tricky. Haha. But very awesome cadence, probably one of the best I've ever heard.

  • lol almost sightread this piece, good job!

  • what program do you use for this?

  • what program do you use for this?

  • this gets boring really fast..... i actually go the this school....

    Hey, thanks a lot!

My newest piece is a marimba/xylophone duet called "5 for Two", I put it up about a week ago ;-)

  • this is really nice.....smooth and the change up's LOCO

  • wanted the 6/8 funk to keep going :)

  • what grade is this?? or level?? as in how hard it is.

  • @cheyennetheguitarist,

I'm not sure, I've never had it "graded". A dedicated high school line could definitely play it.

  • @reeldeelpeel yupp i agree.

  • heyy duude is there any way i could have the score:D

  • @juniorgonzalez714,

Yeah, I'm selling it for $15 through PayPal. Message me with your email if you're interested in purchasing a copy.

  • How do i buy this?

  • @TheCoochiecoo,

Message me or email me (my email is in my 'about me' on my youtube profile) with your email address, and we can make it happen with PayPal if you are still interested.

  • This is freaking amazing. :)

  • @xKaishisxMoonx,

    Thanks!

  • I really loved that part with all the crushes in it, very good composition ;), how do you think of all these? I want to compose good drumline music, but I just can't come up with any good rhythms that mix together well..I know you're not a miracle worker, but I was wondering if your can give me any tips or advice on this? Thanks :).

  • @Emdai7813,

Thanks for your compliments. All I can say is that it takes a lot more time than you probably think. This one took me months, from what I remember. And if you try to make each of the 3 or four sections have different rhythms that still work together, it's very effective.

  • @reeldeelpeel

    Thank you very much!

  • send me the music for this mann.

  • @Ddrummer1103,

Thanks for your comment. I'm selling the full ensemble set for $15, send me a message if you are interesting in making the purchase.

  • where do i send the message too?

  • @TheCoochiecoo,

Sending me an email would be preferred. My email is on my channel 'about me'.

  • can you send me the mucic to this, cause it's freakin awsome

  • that shit is hard

  • @travonmarine,

Not really, there are some tricky timing spots, and it would take time to work. But overall, the piece is relatively easy.

  • the whole cadence was smooth

  • @tswtz2012,

    Thanks, smooth sounds good :)

  • the solos gave me an orgasm..just sayiin

  • @aj508746,

    Thanks. I hoped they would!

  • It's always a blessing to hear high school lines that know how to play true FUNK!! Yeah!

  • @JHELSEL55,

Yep, email me. It's on my profile in the description.

  • hey can u send me this sheet music?

  • @MDD74G,

I'm selling it for $15. Send me a message, or email me, if you are interested in purchasing a copy.

  • beast overall.. i like the bass 1 part and tenor part the best.. good total show off for each section of the battery

  • @TheMissthang24,

    Thanks a bunch :)

  • @347826able,

Ok then, yeah you should look up more modern cadences.

  • @347826able,

Actually, most drum corps street beats are under a minute and don't usually revisit the main melody or rhythm.

I guess I don't understand what you mean by "corpstyle", or maybe you aren't too sure what you mean yourself.

  • @347826able,

I have no clue what you mean.

  • hey you should have an mp3 to this! its awesome!

  • This one sounded great from the get go. I guess the L and Rs are left and right hand respectively? But why are some uppercase and some lowercase?

And when you stagger notes (ie. chords, except drums don't have tones) what does that signify? Is it the number of drummers?

  • And the 6/8 part is my favourite.

One more question, the tremolo signs on some notes, what do they signify?

  • @spdyvkng,

Tremolos in percussion are called diddles or doubles. You basically play 2 notes of half the value and in place of the note diddled, if that makes sense. If it's an 8th note, play 2 16ths, if it's a 16th, play 2 32nds. BUT, the diddle also means to play the 2 notes of the same hand. So if you have a right hand diddled 8th note, you'll play 2 right hand 16ths, Also of equal velocity, unless it is said otherwise. Thats the best way I can explain it.

  • Tnx for your answers. After looking at the notatin I guess that the notes with 'x's for noteheads are sticks against the rim. Does VDL and Sibelius communicate well with each other?

And a question about the accents over notes, I've tried that in Sibelius with the built in synth, and it gives more swing to the thing. But what do they signify?

Cool about the doubles, it takes into account the visual aspect. I'll try to notice that in the response you've posted from the live performance.

  • @spdyvkng,

    Yes, they work well.

You seriously don't understand what an accent is in percussion?

You must have you playback performance set up with rubato or something, set it all to meccanico and straight.

Just to warn, the video recording is VERY different from this.

  • @spdyvkng,

    Thanks

Yes, the letters below are the stickings. An uppercase letter enforces an accent or marcato.

The tenors and bass drums have multiple tones obviously, I have no clue what you mean about staggered notes.

  • i think he may mean that section starting in measure 42-45 idk... i think it sounds cool the whole thing is cool

    :D

  • @Guitarwithwertyloops,

    Can't be too sure.

    Thanks though, I appreciate it!!

  • this sounds awesome especially the snares. great job.

  • @vrod2435, Thanks!

  • I like the beat at 0:27

  • @Racerjen1, Thanks, it's a fun rhythm to play :)

  • How much for this? Im interested in buying it.

  • @Br0k3M3xican, 15 bucks. Look on my channel for my email, and please send me an email about it. Thanks!!

  • I loe that snare solo at 1:06 lol

  • @Br0k3M3xican, thanks!

  • very nice! very well composed. sounds great.

  • @GMSnare, Thanks so much!

  • like the way the bass part is written

    awesome runs.

  • Thanks, I appreciate it! :)

  • Why is that? Because of the snare roll crescendo?

  • no good flow to it

  • You're an idiot, lol.

  • you couldn't march this it is too sporadic it sounds cool though. it just needs to pick a style and stay with it.

  • You're just not up with the times dude. Check out Phantom Regiment's 05-09 street beat, the style changes are all over the place, with quarter-note triplets, and time signature changes everywhere. Almost anything can be tracked to, if that's what you're getting at. You just need to expand yourself, and perhaps go to a few drum corps events this summer and hope to get lucky enough to hear/see a street beat.

So, what's that about not having a good flow...?

  • phantom regiment is fucking amazing.

  • They are a great organization. 2009 was a little disappointing, but at least they were there for Finals.

  • you think i could get sheet music for this im in drumline its a pretty b.a. kadence

  • My email is on my channel page. Email me if you would like to purchase it.

  • Thanks.

Their "marching" season is over, so I'm basically waiting to help for their winter concert and then percussion ensemble, which comes up early in 2010. They're a good group of kids, I think they just need more exposure, both playing and seeing.

  • More or less, no. This season though, they prepared a watered down version of half of it, with 3 basses. Unfortunataely, we never had the chance to play it, because the administration at LWHS doesn't know what the hell they're doing, and we got cut short time at the game we would have played it. I direct the percussion there now, I graduated 2008.

  • i love the tenor parts =DDD

  • You' typed the the first comment about liking the tenor part. :) Why do you like them though?

  • This is a badass bass part.

  • Thanks. Bass drums are my favorite, I guess you can tell, haha.

  • I saw a few youtube vids of "Ugg-a-Wugg" and I see no similarity in it to my cadence at all.

  • This one is great. I just came across your cadence videos and cant get enough. I am working on some snare stuff trying to teach myself and just having fun with it. These give me something to work from/toward. Thanks man. (You wouldnt know of any similar software for a linux machine would you?)

  • Thanks. It's good to hear you're having fun. No, I don't know anything about Linux computers, sorry.

  • Thanks! :)

  • Haha, how does a kangaroo cadence fit an Indian school?? lol

  • I'm not entirely sure, I know it was necessary for my school, so that helped motivate me.

  • nice bass drum groove

  • Bass drums are my favorite, thank you :)

  • This has some pretty nice bass splits. I especially like the split groove in the beginning. Oh and nice solo section too.

    -5th Bass.

  • Thanks, and yeah B5 is SO much fun :)

  • hey man, get writing. my question to you is is there street beat for the whole band to track to?

Seems like from the 6/8 until measure 19, there would be serious complications for a group be consistent with steps unless the whole time they are subdividing. Great stand still piece in my opinion i like the writing though. =]

  • The beat never changes, the 6/8 is at the same tempo as the 4/4 or 2/4. As long as they stay tracking at 112, all is fine. It would be like in Phantom Regiments 2005- present cadence.

  • I Like This Cadence It's Groovin

  • Thanks!

  • No prob

  • man i love your work. everytime i listen to any of your work it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. i especially love the snare part in measure 5-10. i noticed in alot of cadences in parts like that where the tenors and basses do something cool together, snares almost always do something like quarter notes or something really easy. but the snare part right there isn't straight quarter notes, plus it has a groove to it. 5/5

  • I aim to involve others emotionally in my music! I try to make them shiver, or get goosebumps or butterflies. I try to listen to music like that too, and drum corps music is probably the best for that. Thanks for noticing the split up rhythms in the beginning. :)

  • You have good potential to be a drum corp percussion arranger. but you should work on your transitions a little bit.

  • I agree, thanks for your advice :)

  • Cool, thanks :)

  • I'm really in love with the fourth measure. ;D

  • the crescendo roll and then ping?

  • Yeah. It makes my percussionist senses go all tingly.

Mixed with the other things going on in that measure, it's pretty awesome.

  • haha, probably because of the sizzle-suck (cymbals) starting on 4, with the ping from the snares.

  • I really dig the groove at :49

  • cool :)

  • i like it, the tenor part looks cool (i play the tenors lol)

  • I "played" tenors for my senior year in high school and this was the time I was improving the tenor part for this cadence. It's a fun instrument!

  • I like my beef with cheese[s] =P

  • There's going to be a lot of that in the rhythm feature and closer of my show :)

  • Are those pushed shots for tenors at the end skanks?

  • It's called a "crush". It's basically a single buzzed stroke. And the tenors do them one drums 3&4 along with the rest of the battery.

  • Oh no no lol not the crash at the last measure, the pushed notes:

    v v

    xooox

  • I didn't say crAsh, I said crUsh, with a "U", lol.

Do you mean from 1:35 to 1:53?

  • actually really 1:38 to 1:53.

  • Anyway lol, yes, they're skanks. Much like in Santa Clara Vanguard's "Electric Wheelchair".

  • Yeah sorry for the confusion lol I'm used to seeing skanks notated with the beefy shot "x"

  • The x for skanks used here is somewhat beefier than the regular shot x, but is it not beefy enough for you? lol

  • very very cool thing :)

could you send me the sib score??

  • Thanks, but definitely not. If you want to purchase a printable score from me though, please email me.

  • Has anyone performed this yet? this is an amazing piece, it seems extremely difficult, yet still possible to do
