So this begs the question, is there any fundamental difference between this and the Thureon Defense 9mm carbine? I'm assuming you can slap a 5.56 lower receiver on this. Maybe that's the difference.
I see that Colt sells two different 9mm carbines, the AR6950 and the AR6951. Does anyone know the difference between the two models? I don’t have any confirmed information, but I think the AR6951 might have a removable carry handle. If anyone know the difference, please advise.
I think a lot of people are too quick to discount that 80% fun. When people say "what's the point in this? why own that?" It makes me question how much they enjoy shooting.
Hickok45, I always love your videos. But was your camera man afraid he was going to ware out his zoom, he needs to remember his eyes capture much more than the camera. It would have been nice to actually see where some of those shots were hitting. keep up all your videos. thx again.
I bought one of these, too, last spring- same model from Colt Defense - after wanting one since I first read about them in 1986 or so. I agree - it's a ton of fun even though many would argue that it's a waste of an AR platform. All I have to say is just shoot one. Mine doesn't feed hollowpoints well, either - at least the Federal BP load. Maybe a Remington Golden Saber would feed better because of its shape.
Kel-Tec Sub 2000, they make them to take Glock 17 and Glock 22 mags, as well as their extended counterparts. It's a really fun, reliable and best of all affordable carbine. Check them out, Hickok
Oh, yeah, that does look like fun. Hope to see you shooting this AR a lot more. I guess you could shoot more ammo with the 9mm and cost less then shooting the .223. I really enjoyed this video and may be a 9mm AR is something my girls might enjoy shooting.? Great video!
@EVILPIMP765 A carbine is a shorter lighter rifle easier to handle in close quarter situations and the slide fire stock does not make an AR-15 full auto it is a bump fire stock they make the slide fire for the AK platform too I believe
@EVILPIMP765 A carbine is just the name for a shorter more compact rifle for example the ar-15 a barrel 16" and shorter would be a Carbine and 18" to 20" and longer is a full sized rifle. Semi auto means only one round will fire per pull of the trigger, and full auto is more than one round fired per pull of the trigger. Hope that ansers that.
@Hickok45 if you are looking for an AR style carbine that accepts Glock mags, there is one. It is called the Just Right carbine. Last I knew it was available in 9 and 40
Hickok, I have learned so much from your videos. I swear, I know so much about my gun because of you. Being an amateur, I feel very confident in my ability to carry my gun safely. I'm taking my time and slowly learning (...because .40 ammo is expensive haha!).
Before viewing this,,, I really had my heart set on a M1 .30 Carbine.... It is in a local shop for around $500. Also, Beretta makes the tacticool CX4 Storm in 9mm/.40/.45ACP that accepts their pistol mags. I think the store has one of these AR15 types on the rack for over $1000. Really torn. It seems the .30 has a lot more punch
@ressikanflute You should look at the Kel Tec Sub 2000 ...they make them in 40 and 9 and they accept glock mags (they also make models that take beretta mags), so in 9mm you can use 33 rd mags, and at a reasonable price. I got one and never had an issue. Just a thought to consider and to compare to the CX4 maybe
9mm is good but when your trying to drop someone QUICK who is on drugs and shit you really have to be a good shot to have a quick reaction to aim for the head and hit the head. but plenty of fun
@7150285 the ar-15 was originally designed tot be a base design from the ar-5 survival rifle, but the government requested that they be made for the armed forces, and different versions were made starting with the m-16 and CAR-15, and recently the m4 series. today an ar-15 is pretty much just a semi automatic civilian legal gun with the m-4 and m-16 design
@Hickok45 Great shooting as always! I was surprised to see those Uzi type magazines. I have found AR kits that use glock magazines, and was thinking about investing in one. I don't know if you have seen those, but from one glock fan to another, just a heads up to let you know that a glock carbine may be closer than we think!
Hickok45! That was another great vid! Maybe if you can ever get around to it you should shoot more pistol caliber carbines! The Numric or Auto-ordinance Thompson carbimes would be great to see you smacking steel and zombies with!!!! Best wishes and happy shooting friend!!!
I used to have a STAG Arms AR15 in .556 and she was a beauty. Love these videos to! Make sure to fit in lot's of safety tips for the viewers. Shooting is best enjoyed when being most safe!
as always, great video, I have a storm carbine in 9mm and a lusa, living in town I need the 9mm carbines as they are rated for indoor range usage, total blast to shoot.
@kingd3001 Why would you want a 9mm AR over a traditional 5.56mm AR? The 5.56 is less likely to over penetrate with most ammo, MUCH more powerful and only slightly more expensive, I guess the 9mm would be easier on your ears indoors, but both rounds are going to damage your hearing if you fire it indoors without ear protection!
@XHustonProductionsX Because people that own a 9mm pistol may want a carbine with ammo compatibility. If SHTF ammo may become hard to find, if your handgun and long gun allow you to only carry 1 type of ammo allows you to not need to worry about how much of each. Also being able to have the benefit of a rifle battery of arms without needing to carry 2 types of ammo. It's a lot easier to conceal a 9mm pistol than a 5.56 "pistol".
@phobiarg 5.56 pistol is a joke, and if I am going to carry 9mm it would be a handgun! No point in carrying a bigger heavier weapon for no reason, I would grab the 5.56mm rifle first and if there was time and room, maybe a 9mm pistol... are you on crack? A 9mm AR for SHTF? Thats like grabbing a Barrett M82 or M107 for squirrel hunting LOL
@XHustonProductionsX If 9mm is a joke why do so many special forces and police departments use MP5s? 9mm is a perfectly acceptable caliber choice when shooting a soft target. I agree, 5.56 is a much more potent round. But don't discount a 9mm out of a 16" barrel, it's going to punch a hell of a lot harder than a a 9mm out of a 4" barrel.
I had no idea you could get an AR-15 in 9mm...thanks for turning me on to this. I think it suddenly jumps to the top of my "must have" list. Great video as always!
I was wondering if you are familiar with a Steyr army rifle from 1889?
It is a bolt action rifle with a "tube" magazine. Same kind of magazine that most pump-action shotguns have. I´ve tried finding info on it on the web, but have had little success.
bump fire fail, lol... great vid and interesting gun. but i'm never a fan of conversion guns. it didn't seem like they are engineered for the particular cartridge.
@rickylain in my mind, that's the only reason I own an AR. They are modular and can be engineered to fire whatever you want. I have 2 uppers, neither are .223 and both run flawlessly.
Keltec has an affordable 9mm and .40cal carbine. the Keltec sub 2000. its is a really interesting "camper" or hiking carbine, considering you can fold it in half! its ultra affordable, the thing that really sold me on it was that it can accept sig and glock mags. so any sig or glock owner can take the mag out of their side arm and put it in their keltec sub 2000. now what would be really cool is an ar-15 that could fire the classic .357magnum. I WOULD SO BUY THAT!
@AMCScarface M4 has select fire capabilities, and has a 14.5" barrel. An M16 is not an AR-15. M16 has 3 round burst and a 20" barrel. AR-15 is semi-auto and typically has a 16" barrel and no select fire capabilities.
@metalhead2508 thanks for the answer :D Someone told me, that the "AR-15" is the "M16-Version" for civilian sales... only the military use the "M16"...
The second AR that I built, I decided to go with a 9mm carbine. I used Rock River parts for the upper and it absolutely drives tacks. Video of it on my channel if you care to check it out. Not to mention it is extremely cheap to shoot (especially if you reload). A lot of people knock the 9mm cartridge, but with that carbine, you can drive headshots at 50 yards all day long. By chance do you use the C-Products magazines? I use them & really like them. Great video!
hey hickok have you ever done the battery of arms for the ar in a drill format id sujest u maybe look up c7/m16/m4 drills and practise them a few times i bet you could use maybe some blanks or duds or something on purpose to get it down to reloading in 3-9 seconds closer to 5 with yer experience id say and the rifles tend to require a lil more patience to realy be accurate i find, 2 points of ctrl make them more touchy but extremely effective with practice and maybe a good series
Another fantastic video. My wife cries everytime I'm watching you. She knows that it's just another on the list. It's okay, though, she's a photographer. He camera cost $1500, I think I'm pretty safe.
I've got the Kel Tec sub-2000 in 9mm, and I love it. I've modded the gun to have a regular sling on it (not the carry sling that's sold for the sub-2k), and I am having all kinds of fun with it! (I just avoided the obvious pun there. You're welcome.)
not hating at all but this seems like the dumbest rifle ever. I'm all about thinking outside the box, but this is just such a goofy load for this platform I find it incompetent and useless for anything more than a full size sub machine gun, not to mention totally unoriginal as far as pistol rounds for rifle platforms.
Hickok You are so good at showing how much fun shooting can be, while showing that guns themselves are nothing to fear, only the character of the person holding it...Thank You

It is a bolt action rifle with a "tube" magazine. Same kind of magazine that most pump-action shotguns have. I´ve tried finding info on it on the web, but have had little success.

Nice!! I am about to spring for a 7.62x25 upper. Would you do a video of it if I let you borrow it?

bump fire fail, lol... great vid and interesting gun. but i'm never a fan of conversion guns. it didn't seem like they are engineered for the particular cartridge.
rickylain 1 month ago in playlist Military Rifles

I WOULD SO BUY THAT!

that thing would be even more badass if it shot .357 magnum

What's the difference between a M16(AR-15) and a M4 ??
AMCScarface 1 month ago in playlist Rifles & shotguns
@AMCScarface M4 has select fire capabilities, and has a 14.5" barrel. An M16 is not an AR-15. M16 has 3 round burst and a 20" barrel. AR-15 is semi-auto and typically has a 16" barrel and no select fire capabilities.
metalhead2508 1 month ago
@metalhead2508 thanks for the answer :D Someone told me, that the "AR-15" is the "M16-Version" for civilian sales... only the military use the "M16"...

I wish colt made this in .45 ACP.

@slt223 Buy the Hi-point carbine in .45acp. I have the 9mm version. Great gun for the price.

I don't know why somebody can dislike this video. Another nice work from hickok45. Your work is much appreciated.

Hickok, which model is that? It looks like a converted LE9620 to me. Also, are they just as reliable as your standard 5.56 AR?

does anyone know how far away his gong is?
TheMatm12345 1 month ago in playlist Military Rifles

You're welcome.)
sappha58 1 month ago
Oh, and the Kel Tec folds, so it can fit in a container the size of a briefcase. =)
sappha58 1 month ago
I watched the whole video, and it seem that Hickok45 didn't mention about the barrel at all.
Since the rounds are 9mm, wouldn't that mean he need to change the barrel, since a standard AR-15 shoot 5.56mm round?
AlexSDU 1 month ago
not hating at all but this seems like the dumbest rifle ever. I'm all about thinking outside the box, but this is just such a goofy load for this platform I find it incompetent and useless for anything more than a full size sub machine gun, not to mention totally unoriginal as far as pistol rounds for rifle platforms.
