I can do 15-20 of these on my knees no problem, but whenever I try to do it standing up I get excruciating pain in my lower back. How many should I be able to do on my knees before trying it standing up/ should I be doing other lower back exercises as well? I know the correct form/technique for using an ab wheel, I just don't get why I still have back pain.
well i think that you have back pain because you train your back masculs and you usually feel mascles pain when you are training, its normal. and about your first question, i can do 300- 500 times on knees. but no metter how i will do on knees, i still cant do from standing like this guy on this vid. its dam hard!! i was training like a year and i still cant get a full body pisition. and yes i think its very important to do other exersise to able to do the ab whill from standing.
I built up by getting to 30 kneeling wheel rollouts in a row and also developing my lower back. Now these ones arent so hard, but I am still training to make the full drop. Getting that last foot down is HARD but I am getting there training 3x a week.
That shit is hard. Just got me one! Haven't tried it to much cause it still hurts after trying it twice. Will be good when i get used to it and the pain goes away ;)

sorry man but a pain in the back isnt normal if you train right. if you feel muscle soreness its ok but any other pain is not right.

If you can perform 50 reps from the knees you should begin training for standing wheel rollouts.
