Do younger children settle well in spainish schools straight away, especially having come from England? Wouldn't an International school prepare them better for adjusting to the language and transition from England to Spain? I know it will cost to place them there, but at least they can intergarte with other children of different cultures and adapt to the language. Please advise me what you did for your children and how to get them into a school. What's the requirements.

Hi There. I can tell you, for example, that in the Alicante Area, in public schools you can find children from every corner of the world. In some schools, spanish children are minority... In Javea, Moraira, Benidorm, etc,etc, in every class you can find spanish, british,east european, south american,....children, and they all get along very well. But if you want, you can also pay and take your child to a private school. But it's in your hand to help your child integrate well... ;-)

Hi, its not America, in emergencies they treat everyone, just take your passport. You could register self employed for 240€ a month and get cover for your family.

My brother was seriously ill and didn't even have his E111 and they still saved his life and treated him.

As for the schools, just chuck the kids in, they will be a little lost for the first 3 months or so, then they love it. Usually the following term they repeat, so the first year is just for learning the language. Its great.

There are many museums, militar,naval, historical, religious. You can visit marvellous cities like Cuenca,Caceres,Sevilla,Segovia­. If you like modern way of life you can go to modern cities like Madrid,Valencia,Bilbao,Barcelo­na,Malaga. Those cities have many interesting things to fun. Then you can go to beaches, mediterraneans and of course the best (cantabric beaches) You can visit a lot of culture and art places you cannot smell or dream at least, in nowhere of Europe (except perhaps Italy)

Because I live in Spain, her mother is Spanish, her family is Spanish, she goes to Spanish schools, her friends are Spanish, Her nanny is Spanish.... Her father, me is English. She was 3 and as yet has not learnt to "speak" English as 95% of the things she hears is "SPANISH". So what is strange about that?

Where are you came from? I doubt your country is culturally rich than Spain. I doubt you know other thing in Spain than beaches.If you are english you can go to inside (not litoral) and see roman,phoenician & other historical monuments (for example Merida Roman Museum). You can go to Cuevas like Tito Bustillo or Altamira in Santander and see pictorical works and industry stone of ours human ancesters. If you go to Atapuerca (Burgos) you can see the first europeans populations(1,5 millions ago)

You can go to "Camino de Santiago" and see spectacular romanic churchs and monasteries or magnificent gothic cathedrals in cities like Burgos, Leon. There are many museums along this path. You can go to Andalucia and see Palacio de la Alhambra (Granada) and other andalusian monuments (Cordoba,Sevilla) from Islam invasion age. You can go to Toledo and see the city of 3 cultures (christian,jewish and muslim).
